Bullseye | Clint Barton

WARNINGS/NOTES:

Pairing: Clint Barton x Reader

<><><><><><><><>

Because of Clint, one of your best friends, you've become very interested in archery. You've always wanted to try shooting a bullseye, but in reality, you found out that you weren't really that great in archery as you had thought you would be.

Asking Clint for help was always a tempting decision, but you knew how he would react. He would make fun of you, making you feel embarrassed and sometimes, useless.

Because of that, you had never asked Clint to assist you with archery in fear of his teases.

Naturally, you would find a way to practice without Clint knowing. Whether if it's because of the help of your friends, you would always succeed.

One day, you happened to practice more than you usually would. Usually, you would just fire five to ten shots towards the target in the gym. But today was different. Somehow, determination took over you as you shot nearly five times as many arrows and counting.

After way too many shots leaving one arrow unused, you began to give up. This last arrow will be like the others: A miss.

You slung the arrow on the bow and prepared to shoot. Just then, you felt someone's hand adjust your position with your shoulder.

"Straighten your back, feet apart and aim," He guided, whispering in your ear.

You did as he said and took a deep breath before shooting the arrow. Just as you had hoped, it hit the centre.

"Bullseye!" You and the man exclaimed. You turned around to see Clint.

"Great job, Y/N!" Clint praised with a soft pat on your back.

"H-how did you know?" You asked.

"I've always known. I've seen you practice every day," Clint said.

"Then what about the times when you went out while I practised?" You questioned.

"I know you didn't want me to know, Y/N," He said, slightly sad but understanding. "But I know why and I understand. But I'm not that immature 24/7 right?"

You sneaked a smile. "What if you are?"

"Then I'll tell you this: I won't be. Because I love you, Y/N."

You froze. "Y-you what?"

Clint realised what he just did and stepped back.

"Sorry, it just slipped out somehow," Clint scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment, cheeks burning.

"Clint, it's fine," You reassured, coming closer to him, smiling. "I-I love you too."

"Are you saying that to comfort me?" Clint asked.

"No, I mean it."

Clint smiled, eyes lit with content.

Both of you hugged.

"Well, this is awkward," A voice said. The both of you instantly broke apart and turned towards the direction of the voice. Natasha was preparing herself for practice.

"Nat! It's nothing I swear-"

"Don't worry, Y/N. Firstly, I heard the whole thing. Secondly, I'm not jealous."

You and Clint blushed like a tomato.

"Don't stare at me while I practice, lovebirds. I might scar your relationship."

"How?" You queried.

"Oh, you don't wanna know," Clint said as he held your hand and led you out of the gym.

The next day, you and Clint practised together. He taught you more about stance and aim.

"It's always important to keep a good stance. That way, you could aim better and the chances of hitting the centre are way higher. If you just slump in your position and shoot the arrow, it would just bounce off the wall. Sometimes, it won't even reach the wall.

"Aim with your pilot eye. More strength to pull back the arrow, please. That's it. Now go."

You released the arrow and hit the bullseye. You and Clint fist bumped.

Maybe asking Clint to teach you archery was a great decision after all.

Finally, a Clint imagine. I feel bad for Jeremy Renner as he didn't get to reprise his roles in the two of the biggest blockbusters this year. At least we would see him in the next movie! 😁😁😁 I can barely wait for Avengers 4! (Or Captain Marvel, I hope they give us fans a good post-credit).
