Mario slid down the stair railing with a laugh as Chuy followed him, to meet his father at the bottom.
"Mario, I have great news, my son." General Posada smiled.
"Um, really?" Mario smiled nervously, just wanting to get to (Name).
"Joaquina has asked for your hand in marriage!"
"What?!"
Mario looked over to Joaquina, who was smiling excitedly.
"Papá, I..."
"Please propose, Mario! Who else could protect us from Chakal?" General Posada pleaded as he pulled out a wanted poster of Chakal.
Mario pursed his lips in hesitation, he gasped when his father pulled him closer to Joaquina, who looked at him with begging eyes.
There was a silence between the two for a moment, until Pepa brought in a dizzy looking (Name).
Mario smiled at the (hair color) girl while Joaquina's eyes widened and everyone else in the room gasped.
"Uh oh!" Pepa yelped before scurrying away.
"Heh, heh. What did I miss?" (Name) laughed as she wrapped an arm around Joaquina.
"Wait a sec-did you propose to her?" Joaquina questioned Mario.
"What? No!" (Name) and Mario both exclaimed.
"Wait, were you going to?" (Name) asked Mario.
Joaquina smiled in relief. "Well, I already asked his father if I could. So, go fight a bull or something. That is if you can finish it."
(Name) felt offended at that, she shoved Joaquina away harshly.
"You two are acting ridiculous!" Mario scolded.
(Name) looked at Mario in confusion. "Wait, me too?"
Joaquina landed in the Four Soldiers' arms.
"Ooh, you're so strong, Joaquina!" One of the Soldiers complimented as they held the captain's buff arm.
"Thanks, I work out a lot." Joaquina smiled pridefully before she strolled over to (Name).
"I love you, you know that! But how are you going to protect Mario if you can't even finish a bull?" Joaquina inquired with a hand behind (Name)'s back.
(Name) gasped, the Mariachi Sisters exclaimed in shock, and Mario clenched his jaw.
"Good one, Joaquina!" One of the Soldiers praised.
"Oh, yeah? Well, you will never be as great as a hero as your father!" (Name) bit back, pointing a finger at Joaquina.
Joaquina and Mario gasped while the Mariachi Sisters cheered for their friend.
"Now that's just uncalled for!" A Solider yelled.
"You better get your finger out of my face!" Joaquina growled as she shoved (Name)'s hand away and shoved a finger at her.
"You don't point at me!" (Name) retorted, pointing a finger.
(Name) and Joaquina began to slap each other's hands like children.
"I'm the best pointer you've ever seen!"
"That's so stupid! So childish!"
"Joaquina!" A Soldier tossed a sword to Joaquina.
Joaquina caught the sword with ease and pointed it at (Name) threateningly. "Hah! Come at me, sis!"
"(Name)!" Pepa threw something to (Name).
(Name) caught it flawlessly and aimed it at Joaquina. A confused look came on her face when she realized it was her guitar. She sent a small glare to Pepa, who simply shrugged.
"What? You wanted a banjo?"
Joaquina and the Soldiers laughed at (Name).
"What are you going to do? Flamenco me to death?" Joaquina snickered. "La Musica! I'm so scared!"
(Name) smirked and strummed a note on her guitar. "No, I'm gonna teach you some manners."
Joaquina and (Name) charged to each other and clashed their weapons together, only for another sword to clash it in the middle.
Mario smirked flicked his sword up, sending the guitar and sword flying.
"Did I mention I also studied fencing?" Mario smirked as he caught his sword while (Name) caught her guitar.
"Fine." Joaquina gave in. "We'll settle this."
"Any time. Any place." (Name) smirked while Mario held her back by the waist.
"Really, girls?" Mario rolled his eyes as he held onto (Name)'s waist.
Joaquina stormed away outside, making one of the Soldiers flip out.
"No! Don't go, Joaquina!" The Soldier yelled, going on his knees. "What if the Banditos come?"
(Name) snorted. "Oh, come on! It's not like they're just going to-"
As if on cue, a loud bang was heard outside. A little boy threw open the door. "THE BANDITOS ARE COMING!!" He screamed.
Everyone in the room began to freak out and run around.
"AND JOAQUINA IS GONE!!!"
The Nuns:
🎶 "All is lost!" 🎶
~⚔️~
The Banditos laughed as they ran across the bridge to San Ángel. They broke open the gate, holding their torches and weapons.
"Tremble in fear before the night of Chakal's army!" The smallest bandito, Chato proclaimed.
More Banditos ran into town, ready to already chaos.
"Women and children! Go to the church!" General Posada instructed the screaming townspeople.
"Men! We are going to drive Chakal's bandits off! Who is with me?"
The Four Soldiers screamed like little girls and ran off, making General Posada sigh.
"Ay, this is not good..."
"LISTEN UP, YOU COWARDS!" Chato shouted, pulling out a scroll. "These are Chakal's demands! 'Hand over your chickens, monies, 'bacon, jars, mustache wax.'"
The Banditos snatched away the chickens, shook a man to get his money out of his pockets, snatched away pigs, smashed jars, and removed a guy's mustache.
"This looks like 'jelly' but I think it's 'jewelry.'" Chato put his reading glasses on as he kept reading the list. "Yeah, jewelry."
A Bandito looked at his jar of jelly in confusion.
"Anyways, if you give all this to us...then maybe we won't burn your town down." The Banditos snickered as they approached (Name), Mario, and General Posada.
Mario growled, he placed his sword in front of (Name) to try to protect her, only for her to stand in front of him.
"You want the town? You're going to have to grow through me!" (Name) proclaimed as she pulled out her swords from her sheathes.
One of the Banditos began to approach (Name), Mario at her side with his sword, both of them ready to fight.
"Hey, ugly!" A female voice yelled. The Banditos, (Name), Mario, and General Posada looked up to see Joaquina on top of a building, riding her horse.
"Why don't you fight a real woman? With really beautiful hair!" She flicked her long brown hair back and began to ride off the building.
"JOAQUINA!" The captain shouted as she jumped off her horse, doing a flip in the air, landing right in front of the Banditos.
"Thank goodness! You're here!" General Posada sighed in relief.
Joaquina laughed, she then turned to (Name). "Here, hold this. And this. And this." She began to take off her sombrero, cape, and belt, and hand it over to (Name).
"And if that's too heavy, maybe you can just hand it to Mario." Joaquina shrugged, sending a wink to Mario.
Mario rolled his eyes with a smile, while (Name) scowled at the captain.
"My name is Joaquina, daughter of Captain Mondragon! Tonight, the town of San Ángel is under my protection!"
The Banditos laughed at Joaquina, but her smirk didn't leave her face.
"Prepare to be beaten!"
The Banditos gasped, before Chato ordered; "Get her!"
A Bandito swung their spike fist towards Joaquina, only for her to grab it and swing him away. "Joaquina!"
"Joaquina!" The children cheered.
The Bandito crashed into the rest of the Banditos, knocking them all over.
The Nuns:
🎶 "Who wants some more?" 🎶
"GET HER!!!" Chato shouted. All of the Banditos began to surround Joaquina.
Joaquina smirked and turned to Mario, sending him a wink. "Hey, cutie."
Mario giggled. "You goofball."
(Name) grumbled in annoyance.
All of the Banditos pounced on Joaquina, punching and hitting her. But Joaquina didn't feel any pain at all.
"Ow. Alright, that's just not hurting at all." Joaquina smirked in a monotone voice.
Chato then noticed the Medal Of Everlasting Life under Joaquina's sash. "The beautiful hero! She has the Medal Of Everlasting Life!"
"JOAQUINA!"
Joaquina then sprung up and pushed all of the Banditos off her, sending them flying. She landed on her knees with a fist on the ground, she smirked at the Banditos. She covered the medal back up.
Chato narrowed his eyes at the captain and made the 'in watching you' signal with his fingers. "RETREAT!" He yelled, all of the Banditos ran away.
"And don't ever come back!" Joaquina yelled.
"Yeah! You better run away!" Mario added, he turned to Joaquina with a smile. "That was incredible!"
"Yeah, you really are a hero." (Name) admitted.
"Perhaps now...we possibly could continue our conversation, Señor Posada?" Joaquina requested, holding her arm out to Mario.
"Uh..." Mario looked around at all of the townsfolk staring at him, making him uncomfortable. He then glanced at (Name), he looked at him sadly.
"Mario, please. Do it for the town. Without Joaquina, we are at the mercy of Chakal." General Posada whispered, pushing his son more towards Joaquina.
Mario looked at all of the townsfolk, who looked at him pleasing eyes. All of them looked so shaken up from the Banditos attack. If Joaquina hadn't been there, Mario couldn't imagine what would have happened.
He then sighed and linked his arm with Joaquina's. "So...why don't you tell me about some of your medals?"
Joaquina lit up. "Well, I got this one delivering a baby with one hand while arm wrestling a bear with the other. That's nothing really." She explained as she pointed to one medal as the two walked off.
(Name) smiled sadly at the two, before sighing.
~💀~
"Duh! Of course he's going to go with Joaquina! Did you see her hair?" Sanjay stated as he looked at the wooden figures of (Name), Joaquina, and Mario.
"Are you crazy? Mario is doing this to protect the town!" Jane countered.
"Putting his duty before his heart." Luka smiled, placing his fist over his chest.
"Yes," Mary Beth nodded. "Life can be really tough for the living."
