||Chapter •18• ||
"In order to be warriors. You must work together even through the toughest battles."
______________________________________
McGill led the small group of students to a small clear area, not very far from their camping site. The moment they step foot into the area: gigantic trees towered over the small bushes green bushes that stuck out their small leaves. The large, dark green leaves overlapped on each other obstructing the sun's rays from providing light. Inside was an unfriendly cold air that caused shivers down one's spine. On the open area only a few clay bowls were neatly packed in an orderly manner and grey large rocks that were flat at the top laid still on the ground. To the left was an orange flame that had formed from the burning wood and a small grey smoke flowing into the sky.
McGill sauntered to one of the green small enchanted bushes and grabbed the small leaves that stood out. He threw them in the bowl. He grabbed a rock and began crushing the leaves till a green soft, thick liquid formed. He sauntered to the bushes and parted the leaves. Hidden behind was a small bed of flowers with various ,different, kind of petals. He grabbed the one with dark green petals and threw it in the clay bowl. He began crushing the leaves till the leaf was no more and only a soft liquid had formed.
The liquid inside the bowl had turned into a darker shade of green. He threw a few enchanted black seeds and crushed them till they turned into powder-adding it into the mixture. He took the clay bowl and placed it on a square wire mash that was placed on the burning wood. The mixture began to bubble up as he stirred it with a wooden stick. In a few moments the mixture turned into a darker shade than before and the liquid had become thin. He carefully removed the clay bowl from the fire and poured the mixture into a glass bottle.
"Healing Portion, but cannot be used to revive any living creature. Those are very rare to find and are forbidden in this Kingdom. " He said as he lifted the bottle in the air to get a clearer view of it.
The students all seemed to be flabbergasted and amazed. McGill then instructed them to make one themselves. Following his steps.
Each student sat in front of a clay bowl and began to make a healing portion. All carefully following McGill's instructions and at times one of the trainers carefully aided the students. Soon enough hundreds of portions all placed in glass bottles were placed in front of each individual. McGill and his trainers quickly examined the portions before approving them.
McGill once again stood in front of the students. This time he was making a different portion from the first one. The students' eyes were all focused on him as they watched his hands grind leaves of a certain enchanted plant. A few students scrunched their noses as a stinging, strong, scent entered their nostrils. Their eyes all stared at McGill who was now shredding red leaves, red as a crimson, with his hands added them to the clay bowl. Those who stood close to him shielded their noses from the powder dust that arose from the small stones he was crushing with a larger rock.
Blurp! Blurp!
The sound of the mixture sounded as it bubbled on the fire. The mixture soon turned into a very dark shade of red and was much thinner than the previous mixture. He grabbed the bowl and poured the mixture into a clear glass bottle and closed the top with a wooden cap. The students stared at it in amazement. The red mixture was a dull colour which twinkled like stars in the sky.
"Predactor Repulsor. This portion chases away extremely disastrous, destructive creatures. Very useful at night." He spoke.
"If this portion worked on people. Hadrian would be the first to disperse." A small boy with messy hair whispered and the others chuckled. Hadrian nudged the boy which made him to groan in pain.
"For your next part of the training is training your inner energy. That is if you are a fire mage too and for those who aren't. You will be practicing your combat skills." McGill spoke.
"Fire mages on the right side and non-mages on the left side." He spoke. Jared [Chapter 15] stepped forward.
"I'm Jared. I will be your trainer." He spoke with a voice much louder and deeper than McGill's voice. The students straightened their posture and their arms hung on their sides as they now listened attentively to their new instructor. He seemed much taller and stronger than McGill. The students seemed to be much more terrified than McGill.
The other trainers quickly collected the portions and put them in a brown sack. Preparing for the new training session.
The students quickly spaced out far from each other as instructed by Jared. He straightened his back and fully bent his knees. He bent his arms and pushed them back till only his fists shown, placing his fists a bit higher from his waist. He stayed in that manner for a few moment inhaling slowly and exhaling steadily. He stood straight and began swaying his fists outwards slowly exhaling. He inhaled when he placed his arms inwards with his fists clenched placed near his rib cage . His legs moved back and forth at an unhurriedly pace as they moved along with his fists. He repeated the steps a few more times before instructing the students to follow.
"This procedure is focusing on your inner energy. If you focus your energy on the part of your body you want to the energy to flow to. You will see the outcome." He spoke as he demonstrated, showing them an orange flame that came from his right clenched fist when he exhaled.
The students' were once again in amazement as their eyes watched his and every movement he made.
Jared then instructed them to follow the same procedure. McGill would often adjust their posture and guide them.
As for those who weren't among these mages. Were practicing their combat skills. Hadrian was among them. He would glare at the students with an icy glare and at times he would strike his opponent with more force than needed for their training.
As the day changed from a very light tone of blue to a pink-purple sky. The instructors halted them to rest for the rest of the day except for Hadrian, Leon and Hadrian's friend who stood in front of McGill with their lips sealed.
"In order to be warriors learn to work togethereven in the toughest battles. As for tonight and the rest of the days. You will be hunting, cleaning the camp site and of course serving them. Your punishment for the week. Until I see change." He spoke with a serious tone on him. The three youths nodded their heads before departing and preparing to serve meals for the night.
