What's it Worth, the Price of Life?
Breakfast eaten hours past noon
I could travel the world if
I used stress as fuel
And even if it all was a myth
I'd never give up life
Just for the sake of silence
Flutters of wind
Music pounding down spines,
Metallic glitter brushed across eyelids
Counting down backward from nine
Diving into lukewarm swimming pools
On overcast afternoons,
Laughter, sadness and striking emotion
Strolling beneath blank skies and full moons
So what's it worth, the price of life?
Sadness, screams and decay
I'd give up everything
Heart, soul and body
If just to live for another day
Take me to the edge of night
Chase me with shadows, and grief
I may forget the look of light
I may sob,
and fall
and weep,
But I will never––ever––forget
The look of sleepless dreams
And numbing dead
Without knowing what it feels like
To live.

A/N:
Hello :)
Originally, this poem was going to be another depressing vent. But then it turned into something else. And I kind of like it.
Lots of introspection lately. Both painful and enlightening––all tiring, but I've been told it'll be worth it in the end.
Take care of yourself. Dream nice things.
Always,
- Mad
