Why I Love Genesis

By the way, before I even start I would like to say thank you all for 500 reads! Honestly, I never thought I'd get over 20! Seriously though, it means so much to me.

Thank you, peace, and love!

If you have read a little bit of my work, you may have gathered I am more or less obsessed with Genesis. In a previous post I talked about why I like the Who. Also, I
mentioned in an even more previous post how they are one of my favorite bands. I actually want to do a thing like this for all of my top bands, so I guess I'll do Genesis next.

1. The Musical Box
This is the song that first really grabbed my attention. When the first few notes sound, I am instantly whisked into the music. I cannot even begin to articulate to you what this song means to me. Seriously, I never get tired of it, and I absolutely love watching live videos of it.
2. Supper's Ready
Okay, I know I could use say that each Genesis song is a reason to love them, at the same time though, this is another one that really intrigued me. I listen to this song how normal people listen to Bohemian Rhapsody, in that, I know every lyric, every part, every line to the dot. It's actually almost pathetic.
3. Tony Banks
I play piano and organ, so for me Tony is such a personal inspiration. I love his style, his skill, and his songwriting. Needless to say, if ever I become a famous keyboardist, I will give a ton of credit to this guy. Seriously, he's so awesome.
4. Peter Gabriel
Again, you would have had to have read very little of my other work to realize I think Peter is just the cat's pyjamas. I find him fascinating. I find his stage presence (from personal experience), to be so impressive. Also, one of rock's best flute players. Back in his Genesis days, he was so cool and he wasn't afraid to do anything, and I think that is amazing.
5. Mike 'n' Steve
It may seem odd for me to lump them both together, but in the early days of Genesis these two played so well off of each other in the string section. In my opinion, they were one of the best sectional duos.
6. Phil
Phil is one of the best drummers out there, he's a great songwriter, and a great singer. In other words, Phil is kind of the total package.
7. Live Video
I don't even know where to begin. They were so tight, they sounded cool, they looked cool, they were cool. Just watch some and get back to me.
8. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
The concept to end all concepts in terms of rock albums. The stage show to end all stage shows. It's just so perfect.....
9. Experimentation
They weren't afraid to experiment. At all. Seriously, at all!

I hope you enjoy my personal rubbish opinions on a great band. Please comment and vote!
