Hash Bash and Irish Polka

Interesting factoid about where I live. Did you know in Ann Arbor, Michigan that every first Saturday in April (every year) there is a little thing called "Hash Bash"?

What is Hash Bash?

Good question. I'll tell you what, it has nothing to do with hash browns or hashtags.

No, it's the one day out of the whole year that the police in Ann Arbor completely ignore the "marijuana is illegal" rule and the entire city has free range to smoke all the weed they want and not get caught. (I swear this is a thing) So, me and my family went up into Ann Arbor to go to a nice dinner on the one day of the year when everyone is high and the whole city skinks of pot.

The best part is though, it wasn't just me and my parents. No, my aunt and uncle who where visiting from Ohio came with us.

Let me tell you, the cook was probably high. The waiter was definitely high. The other customers were high. Actually, at one point this young guy with these terrible dreadlocks and a drug rug came over and started blasting some reggae music.

I was starting to feel high just by watching everyone around me being high!

So that was yesterday.

After church today, my parents and I went to dinner at our favorite Irish restaurant called "The Claduagh" (I definitely spelled that wrong but I'm too lazy to look up the right spelling.)

Anyways, as we were eating dinner, we heard polka music, of all things, playing over the system. It seemed odd, definitely amusing, but still ignorable. But then, another polka song played, and another one.

However, just as I thought things couldn't get weirder, the children's song "Three Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" came on. (At least that's what I think it was) Someone cranked up the volume. My mom was absolutely infuriated, and I was crying from laughing so much.

Finally, they went back to playing the traditional Irish music.

So yeah, two days in a row I had these weird ass restaurant experiences.

How was your weekend?
