A Reflection
Do ever not listen to one of your favorite artists for a while, and then listen to something of theirs and think, "Why haven't I listened to these guys in forever? They're awesome!"
There I was last night, listening to some music on my iPod. For some reason I was flipping through the songs on Genesis's album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.
I came across a song on the album called "In the Cage." Now, I'll have you know that this is one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands in my favorite album of theirs. I was really heavily getting into this band several months ago. (Believe me, if you look at my earlier posts here you can see that my obsession was well documented.) For some reason, though, I haven't really been listening to them that much recently. It's not that I like them any less, it's just I haven't listened to them.
Anyways, I start playing the song. Within a couple seconds, I was completely wrapped up in it. It felt like hearing the song for the first time all over again. Honestly, I was smiling like an idiot for a solid eight minutes. I was really beginning to question the fact I hadn't listened to Genesis in forever.
In conclusion, it's kind of sad to think that a band that meant so much to you at one point in time can slowly fade out if importance to you, but fortunately, they can just as easily become important to you again. Also, I probably will start talking about Genesis again in my book.
On a completely unrelated note, Happy Birthday George Harrison!
