Don't Judge me, you can't handle half of what
I've delt with.
There's a reason I do the things I do, There's a reason
I am who I am.

Sarah Rogers and Joesph Rogers stood outside their castle greeting people as they arrived for the celebration of Princess Margret. The party seemed so uncalled for in many of the people's eyes, but as she laid upon her deathbed her request was for the kingdom not to morn, but to celebrate the life they have waiting for them.
Many princesses from all around had arrived, along with many kings and queens. King Tony and Queen Pepper arrived, as did King Thor and Queen Jane. They arrived in the most elegant carriages of all with smiles on their faces and lots of love.
Steven, however, was nowhere to be seen. He knew that his father was looking for a new bride for him and he knew that he also had his eye specifically on princess Natala. It wasn't that rumors flowed around about how awful the princess is, it was the exact opposite actually. Nothing was heard about the princess for years. So how was he supposed to meet someone, that no one but servants and the king and queen has seen?
But as much as he wanted to hide in his room to mourn his past lover, he gave his word to his mother. And he was planning on keeping it. So he dressed in one of his most formal suits and combed his hair back. He looked like the picture perfect prince.
He walked out and his mother gave him a very appreciative smile. He made it just as Romanovia's marriage around the corner into the castle.
"Announcing the arrival of King Nicholas, Queen Tatiana, and Princess Natalia," a loud man announced. All attention was drawn to the carriage as Natalia's name was said, everyone curious to get a glimpse of the princess.
Stepping out was a man, no older then Joesph himself, the wise older queen, and then a smaller figured woman, she, however, was cover but a simple white cloak over her snow white dress. Steven could not yet see the face of the princess, nor could anyone else.
"Your majesty, what an honor it is to have you come and join us." Smiled Joesph, Nicholas nodded at the king.
"I was honored to have an invitation," He smiled back. "You majesty it's an honor." He said to Sarah just Joseph addressed Tatiana. Sarah turned her attention to the princess covered in the cloak. "Natalia the cloak. Show your respect." her father reminded his daughter. A slight mumble of the words 'sorry' came from her, but it was very low.
"Your Highness, This is my daughter Princess Natalia, the only heir to my crown." he smiled down, Joesph gave the girl a smile. Steven was in shock as he watched her pull down her cloak's hood revealing her blood red hair. She was breathtaking. The guards around couldn't help but give the princess a look, some of the other princesses around shot an annoyed glance at her causing Natalia to hid her enchanting eyes.
"It is good to see you again," Sarah said to Natalia, Steven was still confused on how his mother knew the princess but didn't dwell on it knowing his mother well enough. She would never say a word if it was not his concern.
"It's an honor," Natalia said. "Your castle is so beautiful, so much history in the walls." She said, much more confidence laced her voice. Steven stared at her until his best friend, Lord James coughed pulling Steve out of his trance.
"Welcome to Rogerteria princess," Steven said. Although he was in a trance of the beauty of Natalia he remembered why she was here. His mood immediately flattened and a certain grudge against the princess was formed.
Natalia bowed to Steven, who did a small gesture in return. Natalia looked at her mother as if asking if she could go inside. And that's when Sir Clinton walked into the conversation.
"It's an honor to have been invited to your wonderful home." He said bowing to the king and queen. "My princess would like some privacy to prepare for the party. Would that be okay?" He asked. Steven was confused as to why this man was speaking for Natalia, and the first word that ran through his mind was spoiled.
"Of course, I can have Sir James show you to your room Princess, while your parents and I discuss some business." The king said. Natalia smiled and watched as James ordered some people to start grabbing bags.
Steve watched carelessly as she walked away, nothing made him want to marry this woman, he would rather mourn the death of his true love alone for the rest of his life. He followed them in listening to the conversation that Sir Clinton seemed to be having with himself.
"You know, this is an actually really nice castle. Not as great as the princesses but it's okay." Clint said. Sir James ignored his comment and turned to the princess.
"How was your trip princess?" He asked ever so politely. Natalia looked up, nervousness was in her eyes but her voice was full of so much confidence that you could never tell she was nervous.
"It was like any other trip. It was nice to see the world again." She answered. Steve watched as James kept a small conversation with her, not being able to see how he does it. The girl healds herself as if she was higher then everyone else.
But in reality, Natalia was freaking out. Every step she took she wondered if she did it wrong. She was wondering what the prince like more, and everyone knew Princess Margret, she was confident so Natalia tried her best to do that.
She was once a very confident girl. She once didn't have to fake it. But that was before. Before everything that happened. This arrangement was important to her father, so she would take the step in figure this out. She will pretend if she has too.
"Well, this is your room for the evening. Sir Wilson will come to a fetch you when the celebration is to begin." James said. Natalis gave him a smile and the two walked away. Natalia looked at Clint who was smiling.
"What?" She asked.
"I missed the confidence in your voice." He said. Natalia looked down and smiled.
"Me too."
Steven
"She seems nice Steven, I don't understand what you are complaining about. And her beauty is beyond compare." James said to his friend as they walked to the grand hall.
"She is spoiled. I don't care if she is the most gorgeous female in the world, she is spoiled. I will not marry a spoiled princess." He said stubbornly.
"Steven, how do you even know she is spoiled? You have barely spoken to her." James pointed out.
"The way she speaks to you James, she is talking down to you," Steven said. James shook his head no. He thought that she was very respectful toward him even more than most princess that have come around the castle seeking Steves' hand.
"Sometimes you are an idiot Steven. She's a nice girl. Maybe if you gave her a chance you would see that she is fit perfectly for a queen." James said. Steven was unsure what to think. Everyone seems to like the princess but him. He watched James walk away from him at the signal of the king.
Steve stood their alone waiting for the party to begin when a blonde haired lady came up to him. Lady Sharon of Rogerteria. She was Princess Margretes niece and she had always had a liking toward the prince. But then again, who didn't.
"Your Highness." She smiled walking toward him. Steve had become closer to the prince in the last few weeks and Steve had taken a certain liking toward her.
"Lady Sharon, I am glad to see your duties didn't keep you away from the party." He boasted.
"Me as well. You look very handsome tonight." She smiled.
"And you look breathtaking in that dress tonight," Steve responded.
"why thank you, your highness." She blushed. James watched his friend from afar and was appalled. That was his 'true loves' niece yet it looked as if Steven was hiding feeling for Lady Sharon. He has to admit lady Sharon was beautiful but her personality wasn't fit for being a princess nor a queen. That's why she wasn't. And James knew that if Steve fell for lady Sharon it will only end in terror for both kingdoms.
"I saw that Princess Natalia has made her first public appearance in years," Sharon said flatly. Steve chuckled. "How is she?"
"It's a complicated matter, however, I am not allowed to speak about with anyone besides Sir Barnes or Sir Wilson," Steve said.
"You would even hide it from me?" She asked giving him a small smile. Steve looked at her, it was almost amazing how much of Margret she had buried inside of her.
"Unfortunately, however, if we were in a more....private spot. I could tell you about everything." He said in a more quiet voice. Sharon's face was flushed red as he spoke so gently to her. She nodded head.
"Yes, that would be more ideal wouldn't it." She spoke just as softly as he did to her. Steve nodded his head. "You highness, if you would excuse me I need some air, I shall seek out the garden." She said and walked away from him, making sure to sway her hips as she walked away. Steven watched with a smile. And too long afterward made his way after the young lady, with only Sir James as a witness.
The truth was, Steven carried for princess Margret not as the love of his life but as a best friend. She was his best friend, the two found each other believing it was love, but after a while, they realized that the only love they shared was that of friendship. That is why he morns. He mourns the death of a friend, not the death of a lover.
In fact, Steven almost called off the marriage but Princess Margrete reminded him it was for their kingdoms. And when the wedding planning began to play out he met Lady Sharon, a young woman who held herself with such grace and honor. A lady who's smile lit up Stevens room. But no one knew of the affection he held for Lady Sharon. Not Princess Margrete, not his parents, not sir Samuel, not even his best friend.
So imagine his best friends surprise when he sees the two very friendly chat. It was James's job to know where the prince was at all times so he followed his best friend out of the grand hall and down the castle. He made sure to keep his distance as he followed.
Steven often looked back to make sure no one followed, and when he got to the end of the castle he quickly moved so he entered the garden unseen. James looked out the window to view the scene and was greeted by the view of the prince lips glued to Lady Sharon's.
James sucked in a breath as he watched his friend. He was appalled by the actions of his best friend. He was a prince, not some commoner who could have a love affair. This wouldn't only affect him but the future of his kingdom.
Now James carried the burden of knowing his best friends secrete. He was stuck with having to lie to everyone. He had to lie to the king and queen. A forbidden action to anyone. And all for what? So his lying best friend can release himself?
What was he suppose to do? He made a promise to the kingdom, but he made a promise to his best friend as well. What on Earth was he to do? With a heavy heart and the new knowledge that he now held about his best friend, he walked away.
This was the start of a lie of the century.
