Life has a funny way of showing you what you need to learn, to confront those feelings you pushed down. Everything was coming up at once and I didn't know how to take it...[Selene]

Walid stepped in front of Selene pushing her behind his muscular body. Nadine was serious as she pointed the loaded gun at them.

"Why, Nadine?" Selene asked with tears in her eyes, she had never known how much Nadine wanted her dead.

The older women scoffed, "You weren't supposed to be here!"

Selene could see that Nadine was at rock bottom. She looked evil. Selene watched as Mrs. C came forward with her hands up.

"She's right." Mrs. C gave them a pointed look and Selene knew to play along.

"If you hadn't asked your fucking niece to be apart of the group, my daughter would be the star! I wanted this for her and you took that from me." Nadine's shouts made her flinch.

The club bystanders ran off to the nearest exit the minute she pulled a gun. Club security tried to get closer without setting her off.

"Your daughter?"

Nadine nodded feeling the tears pour down her sunken face, "Alma was beautiful. Her voice was pure gold. She was the leader of the group before you swooped in."

Walid's jaw ticked when he saw her finger sitting on the guns trigger, "Put the gun down."

"Shut up! God damnit! You weren't supposed to be her bodyguard. Everybody always cares about her too much."

Selene could sense her manic behavior a mile away. Her heart seemed to falter the more Nadine talked about her daughter.

"I had a plan and you Walid! You ruined it. It was easy getting to you especially the way you downed those pills night after night. A true junkie."

Walid scoffed, "That's enough. Put it down now."

"I had my cousin become a stagehand and watch you. Mhm, so easily manipulated. I see he couldn't finish the job though."

"I said enough!"

Selene could hear the police sirens but they were too late.

Nadine laughed, "It's enough when I say it's enough! Now it's time to finish the job."

Selene screamed when Walid pushed her to the ground. It was like slow motion. She waited for pain to erupt but it never arrived.

The crowd scattered as Nadine made a run for it. The police cars cut her off outside making Selene focus on herself.

"Are you hit?" Walid frantically asked capturing her face in his hands.

She shook her head no but her face drained of color when she noticed a spreading red stain in his left shoulder.

"Shit! Somebody help me." Selene caught Walid's body just before he hit the floor.

He was sweating as she applied pressure on his wound. She could feel him shaking with fear, "Walid..."

Star covered her mouth as Alex called 911 for the thousandths time. Their heart broke seeing their friend in such distress.

Oakley's face dropped watching their interaction, "You love him don't you?"

Selene blinked through her rage, "Are you really asking me this shit right now?!"

Walid's bloody hand rested on top of hers. He grunted in pain, "Cee, I'm sorry."

Cee had this mug on his face, his attitude evident as he watched his friend bleed out, "Fuck you man."

"Oakley!" Star tried to reach out for her but he shrugged them off.

Selene watched as Walid tried to keep his eyes open. She lightly tapped his face as EMS rushed through.

"Hey, it's gonna be okay. You know that right?" She asked hearing her voice crack.

Walid nodded, "I'm tougher than a bullet, right?"

Selene nodded trying to calm her swirling emotions. Her tears fell as the paramedics took over. He was truly her protector. He jumped in front of the bullet to save her.
