CHAPTER TWO

"I'm Aomine Daiki, your new stepbrother."

I blinked my eyes twice. Daiki? So he is Daiki?

Holy shit!

The guy's father sure didn't unpack his adjectives when he told me about his son. He only said he's kind, he didn't mention that he's hot--and apparently loves to walk around the house with nothing but his boxers on.

Unconsciously, my eyes flicked to his body which was still in front of me, pinning me against the appliance behind me. His smooth, tanned skin was making every bit of him so manly, and well, hot.

"What are you looking at?" he asked in a cocky voice.

I shook my head then looked away, "Nothing. Please move away."

"Heh," he smirked. "Like what you see?"

I gaped at him, blushing. "W-What?"

"You were checking me out," he stated surely.

"No, I didn't." I firmly denied, trying to save what little dignity I had left.

Once again, he smirked. "You can continue checking me out if you want. After all, you're my sister now, right?"

Sarcasm marked his deep voice, especially when he uttered the word sister.

What is the guy's problem?

Annoyed, I reached out to press the pitcher of cold water against his naked chest. He jolted and immediately backed away, shivering.

"What the fuck!" He sneered, glaring at me.

"Oh I'm sorry," I retorted sarcastically. "You're just too hot I thought you might need something cold." I ignored his sharp stare and went to get a glass, pouring down some water to it then quickly drinking a few gulps. Then I looked at him again, just in time to see him ran his fingers through his short blue hair while still glaring at me. I raised a brow, "What?"

"You'll pay for that," he growled.

I scoffed, "You know, you have to be thankful I didn't pour cold water on your hot body."

His jaw tensed and he looked even more scarier than earlier, "You little--"

"Daiki? Miyako?" came his father's voice by the entrance of the kitchen.

We both turned to him, he was carrying some grocery bags as he made his way closer. My mother followed, entering the kitchen with Kaito. Oh damn, we didn't even realize they were already back.

"Hi Daiki," Mom greeted with a smile. "I see you've met my daughter."

Daiki only scoffed, which made his father pull a fierce frown. The guy didn't talk and instead, he grabbed my glass and gulped the remaining water in it--much to my utter surprise. Giving me one last glance, he slammed the glass on the table then walked away nonchalantly.

Okay. He was rude!

"Daiki, don't walk around the house in nude!" Daichi cried out, but he got no reply from his son. He turned to my mother worriedly, "I'm sorry about that, honey. Are you okay?"

Mom nodded her head, earning a peck on the cheek from the man. "Don't worry, it's okay."

I rolled my eyes then turned to open the fridge, returning the pitcher inside. I didn't waste another second and exited the kitchen, heading straight upstairs to the bedroom they gave me and slamming the door close.

Their lovey-dovey would still gross me out to no end.

Gaah.

I darted my gaze to the wall separating me from my new stepbrother's room. Slowly, I walked over and carefully pressed my ear against it. I couldn't hear much but it sounded like he was playing video games. Sighing, I took a step away then cupped my forehead.

"Aomine Daiki, huh?" I groaned.

How were they expecting me to live with a guy like him?

That's impossible!

After an hour of thinking about my misery inside my room, Mom called me for dinner. I didn't want to join them, but I was undeniably hungry so I had no choice. I had just gotten out of my room when the door beside it also opened and Daiki came out--at least this time, he was looking decent in his jeans and plain white shirt.

Our gazes met, but he completely ignored my presence by walking past me without a word. I huffed then quietly followed, maintaining a good one-meter distance between us.

Surprisingly, supper was peaceful. The only noise we could hear was Kaito's baby talks. I noticed Daiki glancing at my baby brother once in awhile and the latter would giggle whenever he did so.

Kaito must've been thinking the guy was a chocolate molded like a man.

Oh gosh, please. I could die laughing.

"Daiki, Miyako.." Daichi started, getting our attention. "Misa and I have decided to get married next week."

The sudden news made my eyes widen, the chunk of food I was about to put inside my mouth stayed frozen in the air. But I didn't say a word and only stared at them, waiting for further explanation.

"Next week?!" Daiki snarled, slamming his fist against the table, frightening my innocent baby brother. All heads snapped at him, surprised of his hostile reaction. "It's not even a month yet ever since you broke up with my mother!"

"Daiki," his father spoke in a restrained voice. "Mind your attitude."

"As if you care!" He abruptly stood up from his seat, wavering the table and everything above it, then left without another word.

I exhaled a sharp breath and continued eating, ignoring what just happened. I wasn't really that surprised. Well, it's not like it was the first time. News like that doesn't really shock me anymore.

"I'm sorry about Daiki. It's hard for him to cope up with these changes." Daichi said softly, sincerely.

My mother merely gave him a kind smile then shook her head, "I understand. It's not easy to adjust, especially that we're here and he's got to get used to our presence."

At that point, the man turned to me with a soft gaze. "I'm glad you're mature enough to handle this, Miyako."

"Not, really. I'm just used to it," I replied almost immediately.

He frowned, even my Mom did. "Used to what?"

"Adjusting." I drank half of the water in my glass then stood up, "Thanks for the meal."

I walked away, not giving them the chance to speak again. I trotted up the stairs then to my room, closing the door with an exasperated sigh.

Mom's going to get married. Again.

Wow.

And by the looks of it, my new stepbrother didn't like it. Maybe that's why he was so hostile and rude and kind of scary. He was against my mother and his father's relationship. And he was probably against us living in their house as well.

Ugh. Just what the heck..

The sudden ringing of my phone startled me, I fished it out of my pocket then immediately answered the call after checking the caller ID.

It was Aoi Natsume.

I composed myself, "Hello?"

"Hello, 'Nee-san. I was trying to call you earlier but you weren't answering," he said and he sounded so worried.

I sat on my bed, bringing both feet up on the soft mattress. "Sorry, I was busy. We just moved in today."

"And are you okay?"

"I'm fine, I guess. Except I have a rude stepbrother," I muttered with a grunt, remembering his almost-naked-body all of a sudden.

"What? Did he hurt you?"

"No, he didn't. It's just that.." I struggled with the right words to say, or the right adjective to describe the hot guy next room.

Oh wait, that's it.

Hot.

But there's no way in hell I would say that. Especially to Natsume.

"It's just that I'm what?"

I sucked into my breath when I heard that familiar deep voice. I turned to my door, instantly pulling myself up upon seeing that it was open and he was there, leaning against the doorframe.

Bloody Cheesecakes!

Did he hear me describing him as rude?

I'm dead.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, rather annoyed than surprised.

"Who's there, 'Nee-san? Your new stepbrother?" Natsume yet again asked worriedly.

"I have to go, I'll call you later." I didn't wait for his reply and cut the call. Then I turned to glare at Aomine Daiki, "Don't you know how to knock?"

"I don't have to knock," he shrugged his shoulders with a smirk. "It's my house."

I raised my chin defiantly, "Are you familiar with good manners?"

He scoffed, "Are you?"

"What are you implying?" I asked with a frown, confused.

"Surely you have some good manners since you were raised by a woman who flings herself to a married man with a family."

The venom and sarcasm in his voice had me at a loss for words for a moment. What was he saying?

"Hey," I started, standing up. "What are you trying to say?"

And again, he scoffed, giving me a stare that's utterly insulting. "Your dear little mother is a homewrecker. And now you're all here, ruining my life."

I opened my mouth to speak in defense but words weren't able to be vocalized. His words stung like no other!

I didn't know but it was painful, it made me want to cry.

And because I was wordless, he straightened his back and added, "But I won't let that happen, I'll make sure we will all be miserable. Your mother, my Dad, and our little family."

And then just like that, he was gone..

I breathed out a shaky sigh, feeling my knees wobble in confusion and fear--I could even feel my heart throbbing.

Shit! Is he serious?
