"THERAPY"
Abby's POV.
When lunch was finished we were ushered to the main church building by councilors who looked like soldiers. The room was very dark with a slight hint of candlelight. Blankets draped over the windows and the room was eerily quiet with the whispers of the other prisoners I mean kids. Once we were all in the room there was a wasp of air as the councilors slammed the doors to the church. In the darkness we could see Pastor Jacob slapping a ruler on his hand. The sound of him slapping his hand echoed through the room and we nervously sat in the pew. Sweat dripped on my face from the fear of what was coming for us. I knew that I had to escape, but this felt like I was playing prisoner and the pastor was the guard. Audrey looked to me in terror and I felt helpless. I wanted to save her, but I didn't even know how to save myself. Pastor Jacob's beady eyes stared in my direction and he smiled creepily.
"Welcome all broken ones. You are here to seek the light of heterosexuality," Jacob paused. His face twisted and I felt frozen in fear as if he was trying to read my thoughts.
"However, I know none of you truly have any intention to change. You wouldn't have a chance to seek salvation without your parents. I know I will have to force it out of all of you. If you don't learn quickly we will punish you until you all are obedient. None of you know what your parents signed. All of your parents gave us parental control over you for a year. Even if you run away you will be returned here," Jacob scowled. Just like that my hope was crushed. I had nowhere to go, but I knew these places used intimidation.
"Yes you unfaithful brats. Your parents are trying to save you under our care. Pain is the best teacher and if you can't take it you deserve to die," Mrs. Sanders added. I looked over to Audrey to notice the tears in her eyes. Even though I haven't known her long, I knew that I would have to protect her. She is my first true friend and she needed to see that we aren't hopeless. A councilor handed out fliers to each of us individually. I opened it to see it was a playboy magazine which confused me. Then a hand flew at my face and slapped me which made my head fly back. I held my cheek in pain and I mouthed to Aubrey to not open the magazine.
"These images represent the pain your same sexual tendencies will bring you. These slaps are nothing like the flames in hell you all will be doomed to if you aren't taught to obey the lords word," Jacob claimed. It took everything out of me to not punch him in the face.
"If we see you with these we are free to punish you however the councilor feels is just. Just to let you know all of your councilors made the journey you made from ill to cured, so change is possible," he informed.
"Well we are going to sit in solace for an hour. If we catch you doing anything you will be punished," Jacob claimed. I put the magazine under my seat and I glared at Pastor Jacob with fury. Audrey was visibly shaken by these events and she tried her best to dry her tears. I decided that the one way to escape was to document the events that were pushed upon us. Tears of anger flooded my face because I knew that I will have to fight for a long time.
