Lunch
Audrey's POV
We walk back to our bedroom with the other kids to see no one is following us. The room is dead and we all sit on our beds staring at each other in fear. I decided to break the silence.
"Guys, we need to get rid of the switch blades. This is messed up and it isn't for healing since we are allowed to cut ourselves for our feelings. These practices are messed up and I don't think our parents would sign us up for this would they?" I asked worried for what we had in store.
"I agree, we can hide all our blades somewhere. I want to throw them in the lake, but this seems like we will be checked on for everything," Abby replied.
"Let's hide them in the mirror in the bathroom, " A girl suggested.
"That is a good idea. It would lure away the suspicions of Mrs. Sanders. Everyone hand me your switch blade and I will put them in the mirror," I suggested. Everyone handed me their switch blade and I shoved them into the spot behind the mirror. We all started to head towards the cafeteria to see Mrs. Sanders glaring at us.
"Since it is the first day we made lunch for you. We will make lunch and dinner but you girls have to clean up after everyone," she said. We walked into the cafeteria to smell a high concentration of essential oils. It made me gag and we saw the food in a buffet style arrangement.
"Before you all eat I need to hand you something," Mrs. Sanders said. She handed everyone a pill and we all shook.
"What is it," I asked
"This is a pill that will speed the process of your normality coming back. If you don't take it, you don't eat," she replied. We all regretfully took the pill and headed towards the food. The food was the one normal thing here. It looked amazing which confused me because I felt something horrible was hidden. I got my food and sat next to Abby at a table.
"How are you doing?" she asked.
"It could be better," I replied and she looked at me with the same fear in her eyes. There was Christian music blaring in the background and I tried not to barf. The instructors stared us all down as we ate making sure we weren't doing anything homosexual. A girl with short blond hair sat next to us.
"Hi, my name is Elizabeth, yours?" she asked.
"My name is Aubrey and this is Abby," I replied.
"Nice to meet you," she said.
"Nice to meet you too," Abby replied.
"So, I'm guessing you got sent here by your parents as well," she guessed.
"Yep, they figured it out and now I'm here," I replied.
"No one would send themselves here willingly," Abby whispered. We nodded in approval. The meal went by quickly so, we picked up everyone's plates and brought them to the backroom.
"Wow my treatment is working already. I didn't have to ask you," Mrs. Sanders said. We ignored her comment and we quickly cleaned all the dishware.
