Freedom Revoked

Audrey's Pov.

The air was crisp blowing out hairs from my ponytail onto my face. I had lugged all my luggage into the car breathing heavily with my parents staring at me with sadness and disapproval on their faces. The rise of the sun was solemn with grief and anger. At the bottom of my bag I had placed all the money that I have saved from small jobs to be able to escape. It would probably last a week and I figured I could find a job within that week if it was absolutely necessary. I decided to play my parents little game unless it harmed me. I will just be quiet and I will follow the steps in order to device the people and my parents. As we were going out farther into the country I had lost hope for being able to escape. The dirt roads were endless and we were surrounded by farms.

"Aubrey sit up straight we are almost there," my dad commanded. Slowly I sat up with a fake smile plastered on my face. The camp looked like any ordinary summer camp with a lake but there were three cabins. One was all pink, the middle one was white, and the other one was all blue. I trembled out of our vehicle and stared down this camp from hell. My mother put her arm on my back pushing me forward. The white building had a large cross in crested on it's doors with another set of doors indicating the mess hall. We walked into what looked to be a church to see a minister.

"Hello Pastor Jacob I am here to drop my daughter off for your conversion therapy," my dad said with no emotion on his face.

"Welcome, you must be Audrey," Pastor Jacob claimed.

"Yes, I am. I am here to be healed," I lied.

"You will be staying in the pink cabin. Mrs. Sanders will give you the tour of the campus. I know with our institute you will be healed in no time," The pastor boasted while he informed.

"Do we get to follow her on the tour," my mother asked looking uncomfortable.

"No, unfortunately this is as far as you are allowed to come in the campus. You will see your daughter every weekend for family therapy sessions," Pastor Jacob informed. My parents walked towards the exit and as soon as they left the pastor got closer to me.

"So where do I meet Mrs. Sanders?" I asked.

"She is in the pink building. The natural color for girls you fag," he commented.

"I said that I am here to change. Is it necessary for you to call me that?" I asked.

"I can call you whatever I want. Your parents are gone and I could beat you black and blue if I wanted to. But, I believe the spirit of change in you kid. Angering people with your mental illness is the quickest way to healing," he spat. Quickly I walked towards the pink building to meet the leader of my doom.
