Interview- evanescentdaydream

evanescentdaydream is the author of 7 published books on Wattpad. The book The Sunshine Yellow Dress placed 1st in The Blooming Awards. Below is the interview with the author.

How often do you write?

I write practically every day. Whenever I have time, writing is the first thing I think of doing. It's not always for Wattpad, sometimes it's just a leisure activity.

What's the hardest part of writing in general?

I think the hardest part of writing is when you really want to write something, but just cannot think about anything to write about, aka writers block. Or when you actually had a very good idea, but didn't write it down and forgot about it. These two things really get on my nerves, not just for Wattpad updates, but also when I'm writing for the fun of it.

What do you think makes an author a great one?

I think the most important thing that makes a good author is passion. Passion to continue doing what they are doing not because of people who are reading it, but because THEY actually want to. I've noticed that many brilliant authors slowly start losing their talent when they write for everyone, but themselves.

Is there something you want your readers to learn from your story?

It really differs on which book it is. But let's take the book I entered for the awards, The Sunshine Yellow Dress, as an example. The message I want to bring across for that book revolves around friendship with a person of the opposite gender. Most of the time, it turns into a romantic relationship, and I can't say if that's necessarily a good thing.

Truth be told, sometimes it's better to remain as friends. But the thing is, some people are so eager for the relationship that they forget the price they have to pay. And once that's done, things usually never go back to the way it was before, which is truly the saddest part of all.

The book depicts everything that there is to it, from crush/infatuation stage to the stage where everything comes crashing down, and everything in between, its all in there. And of course, some plot twists never hurt, right?

Who's a person that inspires you?

A person that really inspires me is Aurelia, better known as @silvercastles, on Wattpad. Some of you may have heard of her before or stumbled upon her books. She is fairly well-known on Wattpad, but yet one of the most humble people I know. She is truly a role model to me, and the type of author I would like to one day become. Something I admire about her is her ability to write whatever she feels like, and to feel secure about it, regardless of what other people may think of it.

Did you ever think your book would win an award like this one?

I never actually thought that such an insignificant book of mine, could get the recognition it has in the awards. I mean, first place! I was so happy when I found out. Albeit, the book is not extremely popular, but that is not what I'm aiming for. My goal is not so much for people to know who I am or my book, but more for them to understand the meaning behind all of my works, and to share that with others. That is what I enter the awards for. Not to get myself or my book recognised, because is that really all that matters? What matters is that we can create a community of people on Wattpad through our books that are able to communicate with one another and share their personal stories. One big Wattpad family!

Besides writing what are some of your hobbies?

Other than writing, I of course, like most or even all of the authors on Wattpad, adore reading. I'll spare all of you the cliché elaboration, because my fellow bookworms should be able to empathise. It's just that feeling of entering another dimension every time you flip open a new book that can just never be replaced.

I also very much enjoy dance, specifically ballet and contemporary. Whether I'm actually dancing or watching it, is both enough to make my day.

I also enjoy some types of visual art. Sketching is something I recently fell in love with, as well as calligraphy, which has been trending on social media for awhile now. Art electronically also interests me. Photoshop is something I've recently picked up and enjoy very much. I've also been obsessed with making graphics for quite a long time, not just for my books, but for anything, really. It's quite addictive once you get the hang of it.
