Chapter 39

The car wound its way up the steep, narrow road to the top station, the snow-laden trees casting long shadows under the setting sun. Angshi's fingers gripping the steering as her sharp eyes scanned the surroundings. Madhu in passenger front seat and Kajal in back were in their silence which  punctuated only by the faint hum of the engine.

None of them had spoken much during the drive. Each woman was lost in her own thoughts, the memories of their last visit to this place flooding back like an uninvited tide. This mountain had been a witness to their laughter, their bonds, and now, their pain.

As the car pulled into the parking lot, the three of them stepped out, their boots crunching against the road. The chill in the air seemed sharper here, cutting through their coats and straight to their hearts.

“ Bilkul pehle jaisa hi hai,"(It’s just like before) Kajal murmured, her gaze sweeping over the familiar surroundings.

Angshi nodded, her lips pressed into a thin line. “Sivaye ek baat ke ki ish baar hum yaadein nahi unn yaadon ke bachane ke liye jawaab dhundne aaye hai."( Except this time, we’re not here to make memories. We’re here to find answers to save those memories.)

Madhu simply looked the whole place not even uttering a word. Trying her best to control her panick breakdown.

Rawal brothers arrived after them. Boot sounds again echoed as they stood behind them like they were their pillars. The girl totally ignoring their existence entered the hotel lobby.

The moment they entered the memories splashed them like a wave of ocean. Their mind automatically became numb even on mere thinking of that they lost their loves, why that they also dont know.

Angshuman peeked from their behind,"ye raha key apke room ka. Aap log fresh ho jaye fir dinner kar lenge."(This is the key of your room. You all must fresh up and come for dinner.)

Angshi took the key by not even glancing at him. They all went straight. Seeing their these condition the brothers also felt a lil pity so they also didnt said anything.

After freshing up everyone came to the dinning hall. Seated at a corner table, the girls picked at their dinner. The clinking of cutlery and the murmurs of other guests filled the room, but their table was steeped in silence. The brothers were just glancing at them from the other table.

Angshi stared at her plate, her appetite lost to the storm of thoughts in her mind. She could almost hear Taehyung’s voice, the memory so vivid it sent a pang through her chest.

Madhu stirred her drink absentmindedly, her thoughts consumed by Jungkook. His laughter, his carefree spirit yet super caring for only her—they felt so close, yet painfully out of reach.

Kajal gazed out the window at the snow falling softly outside, her thoughts on Jin. His warm presence and gentle words were a stark contrast to the cold emptiness she felt now.

“Hum dhund lenge unhe." (We’ll find them,) Angshi said finally, her voice firm despite the lump in her throat. Madhu just nodded, her voice was not coming out her mouth. Kajal glanced at them both, her jaw set, “Ha hum zarur layenge."(We will.) and both set their hands on Madhu’s shoulder as they how gard was it for her.

Later that night, the three women retired to their shared room. It was modest but cozy, with a small heater and a single window overlooking the snowy expanse outside. The moonlight bathed the room in a pale glow, and the soft hum of the heater was the only sound.

Each of them lay in their beds, staring at the ceiling. Sleep was an impossible luxury.

“Mujhe bas Taehyung ki hi yaad sata rahi hai."(I keep thinking about Taehyung,) Angshi admitted, breaking the silence. “Pata nhi kis haal me hoga....thik hoga ki nahi." (What he must be going through... if he’s even okay.) Her voice cracked slightly at the end, but she quickly swallowed the lump in her throat.

Madhu turned her head toward the window, her voice barely above a whisper, not letting see her panicked situation, “Jungkook shayad humesha ki hi tarah sabka hausla barha raha hoga...par pata nhi khud kaisa hoga." (Jungkook’s probably trying to keep the others' spirits up... like he always does. But  dont how he himself would be)

Kajal tightened her grip on the blanket. “Jin hota abhi toh hume chinta karne mana kar raha hota hai na? Lekin kaisa na kare?"(Jin... he’d tell us not to worry, wouldn’t he? But how can we not?)

Their words hung  in the air, heavy with worry and determination. They had come here with a purpose, and they wouldn’t rest until it was fulfilled.

In a dimly lit cabin on the same mountain, the Rawal brothers gathered around a table. The fire in the hearth crackled, casting flickering shadows across their faces.

“Toh akhikar wo log yaha aa hi gaye."(So finally they’re here,) Angshuman said, his voice low and filled with venom. He leaned back in his chair, his dark eyes narrowing."Ab hum apna kaam kar payenge "(Now we can do our work.)

Vikram smirked, swirling the glass of whiskey in his hand. “Manna padega ye log jitna sicha tha usse zyada bahadur hai. Ya bewakoof." (I’ll admit, they’re braver than I expected. Or maybe just foolish.) His thoughts, however, were less dismissive. He couldn’t shake the image of Madhu’s fiery gaze which where filled with pain at same time.

Utkarsh tapped his fingers against the table, his expression cold and calculating. “Unke lagta hai wo un aadmiyon ko dhund payengi. Lekin wo log galat hai. Ye paharein humari jagah hai. Wo kabhi yaaha se jo chahte hai wo lekar nahi jaa sakti."(They think they can find those men. But they’re wrong. This mountain belongs to us. They’ll never leave with what they came for.)

Angshuman clenched his fists, his mind drifting to Angshi. Her determination intrigued and infuriated him in equal measure. “Wo log yaha kyu aaye is baat par royenge wapas unke liye. Lekin sathi me khushkismat bhi hongi uske liye jo hum unke kismat me likhne wale hai." (We’ll make sure they regret coming back here for them. But will also be lucky to get what we would be going to write in their destiny,) he said darkly.

As the night deepened, two opposing forces lay awake, their minds racing with plans and emotions.

The girls vowed to find Taehyung, Jungkook, and Jin, no matter the cost.

The Rawal brothers, consumed by fury and desire, vowed to keep the truth buried—and to keep the girls under their control.

The mountain stood silent, a witness to the storm brewing on its snowy peaks.
