Chapter 35
The flicker of the candlelight in the Rawal mansion's grand hall reflected off the glasses of whiskey held by the three brothers. Each man sat in his own corner of the expansive room, lost in his thoughts, the silence only broken by the occasional clink of ice against glass.
Angshuman leaned back in his leather armchair, his sharp features shadowed by the dim lighting. His mind replayed the image of Angshi’s tear-streaked face, her trembling hands holding the earthen pot, her whispered words to her grandfather. There was something in her vulnerability that struck a chord within him, awakening a possessiveness he hadn’t felt before.
"Usko andaza hi nahi hai ki usse kitni zarurat hai kisi ke saath ki." (She doesn’t realize how much she needs someone to stand beside her.) He thought, swirling the amber liquid in his glass. "Koi jo usse sambhale, uska rakhwala bane." (Someone who can guide her, protect her.) "Main nahi chhodunga kisi aur ko yeh karne ke liye." (And I’ll be damned if I let anyone else take that role.)
He reached for his phone, dialing a familiar number. "Angshi se mulaqat ke liye intazam karo. Mujhe fark nahi padta kaise—bas yeh ensure karo ki woh aaye." (Make the arrangements for a meeting with Angshi. I don’t care what it takes—just ensure she comes.) . His voice was calm but laced with an undercurrent of determination.
Across the room, Vikram sat on the edge of a sleek sofa, his drink untouched on the table before him. His elbows rested on his knees as he stared at the floor, lost in the memory of Madhu’s defiant gaze. Her words echoed in his mind: "Himmat chunaav nahi hai. Yeh zarurat hai." (Strength isn’t a choice. It’s a necessity.) She had spoken with such conviction, such fire, that it had left him restless."Woh duniya ka bojh apne kandhon par liye chal rahi hai, lekin uske bojh ko halka karne wala koi nahi hai." (She carries the weight of the world on her shoulders, but no one’s there to lighten the load.) He mused. "Woh sochti hai ki usse sabke liye majboot banna padega, lekin uske liye kaun majboot banega? Main banunga." (She thinks she has to be strong for everyone else, but who’s strong for her? I will be.) Vikram straightened, his expression hardening.
"Sahi logon se contact karo. Main chahta hoon Madhu humse mile—neutral terms par. Yeh kaam karwao." (Contact the right people. I want Madhu to meet with us—on neutral ground. Make it happen.)
On the far side of the room, Utkarsh lounged on a chaise, one leg draped over the armrest, his boyish charm momentarily replaced by a brooding intensity. Kajal’s sharp words played over and over in his mind. "Dekhte rehna milna nahi kehlata." (Staring like that isn’t called a greeting.) She had snapped at him, her annoyance clear, but he couldn’t help the smirk that tugged at his lips. "Woh jazbaati hai, andaza lagana thora mushkil hai, aur ekdum ziddi hai." (She’s fiery, unpredictable, and stubborn as hell.) He thought, a strange thrill coursing through him. "Lekin uski aankhon mein wo baat hai… woh mera hoga, supar mera haq hoga." (But that spark in her eyes… it’s going to be mine to tame.) He tossed back the rest of his drink, the burn fueling his growing obsession. Picking up his phone, he spoke into it with a casual confidence that masked the intensity of his feelings.
"Kajal kal kahan hogi, pata karo. Main usse milne ka mauka chahta hoon." (Find out where Kajal will be tomorrow. I want a reason to cross paths with her.)
The brothers exchanged knowing glances, their thoughts aligned even without words. They were no strangers to getting what they wanted, and this was no exception. The women had stirred something in them—an obsession that neither reason nor morality could quell.
Angshuman broke the silence, his voice measured but resolute.
"Yeh auratein… inhone humare andar kuch jagaya hai. Kuch aisa jo hum nazarandaz nahi kar sakte." (These women… they’ve awakened something in us. Something we can’t ignore.)
Vikram nodded, his eyes dark with determination,"Yeh sirf unka sawal nahi hai. Yeh unke personality ka sawal hai—ek aag, ek taqat, aur ek chunauti jo humne pehle kabhi nahi dekha." (It’s not just about them. It’s about what they represent—fire, strength, and a challenge we’ve never faced before.)
Utkarsh grinned, his usual playfulness tinged with something more dangerous. "Aur humne kab kisi chunauti se peeche hatna sikha hai?" (And when have we ever backed down from a challenge?)
The brothers raised their glasses, a silent toast to the beginning of their pursuit. The Rawal mansion seemed to hum with anticipation, the air thick with the promise of a game that had just begun. And in the flickering light of the room, it was clear—they wouldn’t stop until Angshi, Madhu, and Kajal were theirs.
