Chapter 1- Wishing fountain

In the cool autumn breeze, a brave couple march through weaving paths throughout the forest trees. The young woman leads her lover with an enchanted compass. Engraved with dark magic to guide them and golden blood infused in the thin carvings.

Holding the young man's hands, she forces him forward determined to find the mythical well. She looked familiar in face but a stranger in appearance, scooping lower in the sky to get a closer look. Books slammed against each other, shaking the fragile foundation the forest was grounded on. It was bleeding like blood in a vein but it wasn't blood texture.

       Red ash

"Miss Hart, please open the door!" Knocking furiously on the study room doors, my dean peeks through the small cracks. Turning her head in any direction to get a glance at me.

Feeling a bit groggy in the head, voices yelled for me, familiar voices I try to evade in my nightmares. Blinking slowly, the knocking stops in a hush, the voices dynamics descend into silence. The pungent smell of roses defuse in the air, hitting the empty corners of the room.

       She was here.

Closing every book of history on my table shut, I rush to grab all my belongings and stuff them in my bag. Leaving the books lying on the table, I grab a hold of my personal possessions hearing the screams erupt outside the library doors, shrieks of tears shakes the book shelves.

"I can't be too late" I whispered, forgetting my spells and heeds of warning panning in my head. I needed to get out before she places her tears on me but before I could leave I was pushed towards the commotion.

I wished I hadn't. She was gone, her lifeless body laid on the ground, bloody words witten in another language glowed gold. She was the prince to pay.

"You!" There she was, on the ground hovering over her sister's lifeless body, tears falling down her face like waterfalls. Blackened veins bulging through her light brown skin, and her long luscious hair was fickle thin.

"They promised me she would be safe! You said she could protect her!" Her voice lost all her youth as her loud screams became hoarse, each scream of anguish. This was the part I was afraid of, I couldn't do anything but watch her suffer. Turning my body away from the vile scene, thorn filled vines surrounded her legs, pricking her legs blood soaked in the thorn tips.

"You should've never trusted their words," taking a single breath I slowly walked away from the scene. My heart bled each step I took but I knew I had to. Her hoarse screams for me to come back dispute into red ash.

I wished I told her sooner but welcome to the Magical Institution.

My life in this hell of a school is like a fairytale with a sad ending, every day I find myself being volunteered into people's lives. Their wants and needs, dreams and goals and even with family members.

Today was an example of what happens if they don't listen to my advice.

Stepping into class, everyone stared at me, all heard the stories passed around the campus. Some were involved and cursed me out with their eyes while others looked at me with anticipation.

       Was it sad? Yes

Was I wrong to not stop her? Never

Seating myself next to Zackery, the only student with common sense, I could feel the attention was on me. I was the girl who used to be part of the queen's team and now I am the one who was supposed to save someone.

I wished I had never met her.

Feeling the ongoing pressure, my heart beat fast in the spotlight, asking for anything to get the light off of me. Bomes shaking within my skin, the doors opens wide dimming the spotlight,  my English professor waved her hand and the supplies magicaly came alove. Erasing her board in one swipe, the chalk write one word big enough for people in the back to see. The word was blame.

"Today I think you all need help, I don't care if you all have connections because I am resigning today. You let a girl go to a dark magic user and think Miss Hart could protect her. One girl?!" Slamming on her desk, royal guards step through the doors with their glimmering swords.

"You are puppets to royals that don't care for you, you think I want to be part of this. I am glad I didn't teach you much because there wasn't any to teach." Anger seeped through her tongue, feeding on the students lack of knowledge. She happily walked out the classroom with her bags.

Ticks filled the silent lecture room, no one spoke, no one looked at each other, they all just sat in silence. Eyes wander to the windows, the moon shone bright behind the clouds and the sky was a perfect color.

"Come on, let's go" as if he read my mind, Zack held my hand and walked me out from my seat row. Each step was like a clock but yet time felt slow.

Wiping away my hot tears, the well gleamed with light in the last light of the full moon. The path was now closed and the two were stuck together and lost in the forest. The bushes turned into sharp tips, ensuring they won't leave with their remaining souls.

Stopping in his steps, Zack turns around to face the princess, distaste shone in his hazel eyes. "Oh and princess Imogen I do enjoy the fact you gave her the drink." Smirking at her shocked face, everyone forgot all their troubles and looked after the princess in the back.

The one thing she hated was attention from people lower than her, no matter if you knew her she wanted the attention of the high nobles. She better get used to it if she wants her mother's task to be done.

Admiring her face, I pushed Zack out of the lecture room with a smile on my face. Unable to stop laughing at her, I ignore the awaiting future ahead of me. It was only the first chapter of my life and I already don't want to turn the page.

If I could, I would read the beginning over and over, just the stars in the sky.
