Warm Hearts

Ruby was having fun teaching Weiss about the basics of Creation Magic. All while they were training and attending their classes.

For a whole week, they all had been so busy that the vampire didn't find time to feed on Weiss. Their routine of eating human food, studying, training, and sleeping was what they stuck to.

Weiss tried to remind Ruby to feed from time to time but Ruby didn't want to because both of them needed the energy. Besides, Weiss still has to sleep a lot more for Ruby to feed on her without any dangers after it. The heiress felt warm and fuzzy when she starts thinking about Ruby taking care of her that way. It was sweet and adorable but she worries about the brunette, after all, she has needs.

There was a situation where Ruby's hands were shaking from an afternoon of sparing and battle simulations. Yang and Blake insisted they rest but both of them didn't want to take chances of being careful.

Creation Magic is one of the most powerful types of magic and it can be very straining. During their practices for summoning, Weiss was careful. Ruby kept warning her not to deplete her aura while doing practicing. Unfortunately, whenever she tried to control her magic, it gets worse. Walls get frozen. Mirrors shatter from the cold. The plaster head busts sometimes fall apart from the below-freezing temperature. She always ends up on her knees tired. Ruby doesn't seem to mind the cold, nor does Weiss. It was sort of normal but she feels bad for all the staff that can feel the cold from the basement.

They were all exhausted by the end of the second week. Weiss stayed asleep on her bed until noon, and even if Ruby was on the door, she shunned her away, tired. Her sister sent her some messages but she couldn't keep open her eyes for long from exhaustion.

It was the weekend. She did all her homework and finished studying for the next lessons. She wasn't doing anything destructive with her magic. Only right for her that she gets some peace.

But no! Ruby entered by the balcony window and sneaked in her room. Weiss can hear her mumbling, a little agitated from the sound of it. Weiss covered her head with a soft fluffy pillow to mask the noise and have five more minutes of quiet. But it was impossible. Ruby decided to join her in bed, spooning her and staying like that for quite a while without saying as much as a peep. She realized only later that Ruby fell asleep and now she was stuck in the position. No amount of grumbling or pushing away could pry the vampire away from her.

Still, Weiss needs more rest. Ruby does too. Soon, they both were asleep. They stayed that way until the sun started to set with the air getting a little cold, the sky a little dark. Ruby playing with her hair, sniffing it like a curious bunny was the only reason why she woke up.

"Are you hungry?" Weiss asked even with her throat dry from the whole day of sleep. It startled Ruby from her daze. The vampire smiled at the concern that the white-haired girl has shown first thing from waking up.

"Drink...You must be hungry..." Weiss whispered, her hand cupping Ruby's cheek as she tried to wake herself up.

Ruby melted. Weiss insisted her the same thing last week and days in their magic practices and training. Weiss would pout the whole time they were discussing magic. She would ask if Ruby needs feeding which she dismisses to carry on with the lesson. This would make Weiss upset but she'll ask again before they went to bed.

"Later. You need to eat." Ruby replied, leaning into her hand. Weiss gave a small smile. They're looking out for each other and nothing else assures her more that Ruby showing or saying it.

"The training...did you have them as a child?" Weiss mumbled, pulling the pillow out of her face and turning to look at Ruby with half-asleep eyes. "You teach like you've had them as a child."

"I did. Mom started my practice early so no one can tease me or catch me to lose control." Ruby answered with a soft voice as she was looking at Weiss' blue orbs. They were more vibrant than that day in the clinic. A sign that she's getting better. "I hated training and practice. It always annoyed me. Then Yang came along and she was the younger sister that made me realize how important control is."

It impressed Weiss that Ruby can relate it to her own life with ease. Only she'd rather watch Whitley freeze and break his spine than gain control. She can do this one for Winter. Yeah. She'd be proud.

"But imposing and teaching one how to control doesn't sometimes end up being effective. You and I have two different magical spans and it's hard to make each of it relate." The vampire said, frowning. "Sorry if I had been hard on you."

Weiss buried her face at Ruby's chest, smelling her pine and rose scent. "I know that, dummy. Yet you try so hard anyway. Thank you." She smiled, her cheeks flustered red.

Ruby's heart can't help but skip a beat and soften up towards Weiss. They've been together for more than a month now. It took quite a while for the girl to warm up to her but is quick to grow affectionate to her. Ruby was right to treat the princess nice. Good things come to those who wait indeed.

"No sweat, Weiss. How about we eat something for now then we figure out what we're gonna do for the rest of the day, is that alright for you?" The vampire asked.

"I want to see how you do witchcraft. All proper rituals!" Weiss bolted up from her bed, looking at Ruby with gleaming enthusiastic eyes. She pulled the sheets off her legs and pulled Ruby to sit. "Will you show me that?"

"Whoa. Why my craft?" Ruby asked, wondering why The heiress would pick that out of all the activities they can do around the house.

"I showed you my magic. I want to know yours. Nature-based magic must be beautiful and powerful." The heiress wondered, smiling like a child ready to go to an amusement park for all sorts of rides. "May I see it? Just simple spells! Small ones! Healing spells maybe or protection spells around the house?" She asked.

Ruby didn't know how and why Weiss knows this much about witchcraft. Maybe a little too many pins on Pinterest but she was glad to see that she shows interest in it. The best thing is, she doesn't have to worry about feeding if she wants to do witchcraft.

"Well then, let's get ready for the day. I'll meet you in the dining hall in ten minutes, alright? I'll ask them to prepare your food. Also, won't the maids and butlers find out what we'll be doing?" Ruby asked as she stretched out from the bed.

Weiss thought about that but she had the perfect excuse. The room in the basement that they're using for training and magic practice at the end of the hall. It is a wide space to practice. Although not soundproof, no one would question them. They'll think she's practicing her semblance with Ruby, like any other day. No one would find out unless they were watching and she locks the doors to the room so no one would see.

"No, I assure you that no one would find out. Besides, it falls under training so we're not doing anything bad." She mentioned as she slipped out of bed to open her curtains. "And We can do it in the garden if it doesn't rain."

The skies have become gloomy outside, getting darker as the day was turning night. "Come on, about time we did something today."

Ruby nodded as she slipped out of the bed and heading out the door. "See you downstairs." The vampire headed to her room to prepare for whatever they were to do for the day. Weiss took a shower and changed in comfortable clothing of her choice. Black leggings, an off-shoulder oversized shirt, and a loose braid to make her look decent.

She then went downstairs to the dining hall where warm food is prepared for both of them. Ruby came in later in new clothes and an old book in hand. They ate dinner in peace without the staff questioning why they only had gotten up.

They later left the table, grateful for such a great meal before they headed down on to the room they often train in. Weiss was smiling and excited but in Ruby's eyes, she looked so beautiful in simple clothing.

She hasn't seen Weiss use clothes as laid back as this one. This weekend was the only time she chose to break her routine pf training, studying, and working hard. It isn't always like this but it was a nice change of pace that Ruby could get used to. Besides, seeing Weiss less stressed made her look prettier.

They entered the training room and locked the door behind them as usual. This time, they didn't start talking about training or working on their sloppy moves. Instead, Weiss removed her shoes and sat in the middle of the mat floor with a smile. Ruby recovered a small crate from a closet, taking out a few things from it. Scented candles, herbs, dried flowers, and a tub of salt.

"Calm down, let me just prepare. Would you prefer we do this outside though?" Ruby asked, taking her things in a small bag. It did make sense to Weiss that they perform nature magic outside than here. The white-haired girl nodded and proceeded to help carry a few of Ruby's things.

"Ruby, how old were you when you started?" Weiss asked as they walked out of the basement and out to the great hall.

"Ever since I can remember? As I said, I started young." She replied as they proceeded to the garden located at the back of the house. "Ever since I was born. My mom used to tell me stories about how messy dinner could get if I didn't like the food."

Weiss couldn't imagine the mess and chaos a baby witch like her would do. More so with a toddler and a half-dragon baby girl for a sibling. "Wow, that must be wild. You and Yang must be a handful to raise." She teased, picturing at the idea.

Ruby laughed as they headed past the garden and to the small grove of trees on the property. "Oh yeah, dad would panic with Yang setting herself on fire, and Mom would laugh." She recalled many times that has happened and it does get funnier when she gold older thinking about it

"By the way, how do you know Blake?" Weiss asked as she followed Ruby in the dark, thick grove. Ruby paused the walk to light the candles, mumbling something to make them all float to light their path.

"Before she was up and walking like any Faunus, she was a black cat that my mother adopted when I was four. Ever since then, she stuck around mom and me. Until mom made a spell to make her have her human form and poof! Blake! Yang grew up with her so it's no surprise they got together." Ruby explained in the easiest way possible. Fascinated by both the story and the candles, Weiss followed. She held Ruby's hand until they reached the clearing.

"Must be fun times with your family," Weiss replied with a nonchalant smile.

"It always is. " Ruby smiled as she watched the candles form a circle on the ground. "You're pretty much my family too."

"If family means feeding and long walks in the night? I'm in." Weiss said. "Speaking of..."

"Yes, yes. I'll feed on you~ Don't get your icicles in a knot, princess." Ruby pulled Weiss in the circle, the old book she had from dinner now in her arm. "Come on, let me eat you."

"Wow, that went sexual in two seconds." Weiss teased, a sly grin on her lips.

"Don't act like you don't like it." Ruby chuckled, kissing her cheek softly.

"I do, I do. Don't worry." The heiress confessed.

Looks like Ruby was going to have fun tonight..~
