Plans fall apart

It was the dawn of a new day. The kingdom of Vale woke up to the rising of the sun. Everything was as it was the day before. The same routine that the kingdom has had for its peaceful times.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the coming hours at Beacon Academy. In the dark corners of Forever Fall, the Grimm are riled up and being summoned through unholy ways. At the tops of the mountains, Nevermore grew restless. The seemingly bright and quiet demeanor of the autumn tinted woods can't hide enough of the disturbance that woke with the daybreak.

Cinder Fall admired the army of creatures that have been called from the darkness of the world. They were enough gifts to be brought to the closeby academy. Behind her stood Emerald and Mercury, both anticipating orders from their master.

"Are you sure this is the right idea?" Emerald inquired. She wasn't doubting their forces were their abilities to take over Beacon but the time they have been allocated to get the gears moving in their plan was too fast.

"Why wouldn't it be? Glynda can be trusted. Her desire to keep students in Beacon safe as well as her blinded want for revenge for Summer Rose is enough to keep her loyal." She mentioned.

Glynda has always pursued revenge for the death of Summer Rose. It was an unjust killing for an innocent Fae blooded huntress. Glynda never knew who killed her and Cinder was her only lead. Or so Cinder keeps thinking. That need for Glynda for information showed great use to her. To be able to keep a pawn next to Ozpin was a trick she kept up her sleeve.

"How about Ozpin? Are we sure that he won't be coming?" Mercury asked.

Cinder turned to both of them. "Someone told me he will be visiting the school headmasters to discuss our coming. The man left his domain open. How would he be able to come in time?" She marched off the cliff and into an airship and called for her flock of Nevermore to follow. The rest of the Grim did too as they took off in the aircraft, heading to the school.

Beacon was quiet and peaceful. The small number of senior students wandered around the grounds, the staff working in their areas as the morning moved on. Glynda waited anxiously in her office of any news. If she guessed right, Cinder will be moving in soon.

She had hoped that the group won't be coming until noon to give the staff some time to warm up and train like they always do in the morning but the time of hoping was soon gone.

She saw the notification of an unverified landing on the pads. Glynda simply had to rush to the training room to warn the teachers. She promised an explanation later on but their issue was already at hand.

Cinder marched on the grounds and reveled in the bright grounds of the school. Prim, clean, and peaceful. Then the Nevermores flew in and up above the courtyard.

"Hmm...A shame." She strode into the grounds with Emerald and Mercury as the Grimm overtook the yard, the students present calling for their weapon lockers to quickly fight. None of them had time to pay the three of them any mind as they fended for their lives.

The staff went out quickly as soon as they heard the swarm but there weren't enough of them. Glynda couldn't join them and instead hoped, as she stayed in the headmaster's office, that the reinforcements would come as she asked of them.

Yesterday afternoon, she placed an urgent call through with Ozpin to report. She told them everything she knew of Cinder's plan to steal whatever was in Beacon's vault. Qrow Branwen shouted at her irrationality and decisions but Taiyang Xiao Long managed to keep him calm. It seems like the brothers were at home and Ozpin was visiting them.

"Cinder took that child away from everyone. She was a mother. My friend. Even with Raven, she was a confidant. To be taken like that was not fair. You told me the truth of her death and what became of her child because of it. I wanted to avenge her." Glynda told Ozpin, knowing that the two men who loved and cherished Summer were listening.

Glynda knew they deserved a chance to get back at Cinder. "If Beacon falls, it will be because of me. All I ask is you fight and go back to the academy and try to protect it. Call the closest teams, hunters, and huntresses if you could. She'll take the grounds tomorrow." She revealed. It was what they discussed. With this leeway, they can keep the damages to a minimum.

"You do understand that after this, my trust on you won't be the same?" Ozpin asked her on the line.

Glynda took a deep breath. "Yes."

Ozpin knew that Glynda was doing this on her own accord. He was ready to make the sacrifice of letting her go but she had a choice to leave Cinder to take over or have it foiled. If the headmistress chose to call him, it just means she was expecting him to at least intervene enough to stop the plan.

"I advise you not to fight. Cinder seems to trust you." Ozpin told her, audibly sipping his drink on the other line. "I will call for a team to assist and no one else." He gave Qrow and Tai the sign to call their girls. If there were any better opportunities to use their magic without holding back, it would be now.

Glynda understood why. More students meant more liabilities on her shoulders. "I hope that you're going to call them quickly. I can't--"

"Glynda, you did quite a number to their plans already. I wasn't expecting the attack to be so soon." Ozpin pointed out. He knew there was going to be an attack sooner or later but for Glynda to make the group rush their plans that were to span for weeks more, it was impressive.

"I'll take full responsibility for this." Glynda simply said before she ended the call.

Qrow and Tai were speaking to the girls in the middle of their mission and it seems like they were just about done with them.

"Oz owes us for this." Ruby made it clear in the call before they all dropped the call, no doubt already calling for quick extraction and heading back.

The headmistress looked out the window of the office, uneasy and worried that this plan might bite them back just as hard as she implemented it. It was simple.

She rushes Cinder's plan, making it seem that their goal is close in hand only to be foiled and destroyed at the very last minute.

For years, she has studied how Cinder acts and just how willing was she to do anything for her goal. Selfish and vile but just as calculating. The woman was not to be underestimated.

She watched as the staff helped clear the Grimm that infested the school grounds. Damage has been done. She'll be having a bad time fixing those later.

The small number of students and the handful of staff did their best to fight and defend the school but it meant letting Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury walk through the gates with a few members of the White Fang with them. Glynda hid stayed in the office and waited patiently for the outcome of the fight.

Down at the grounds, Cinder's entry in the school was nothing to worry about. No one has enough time to stop Grimm and fight them all at once so they headed straight inside, deeper in the school.

Unknown to them, two airships were rushing in on the grounds. When they were close enough, anyone who was watching saw a red figure zipping and heading down to the ground with high speed. Behind it were three more figures free falling and headed to the courtyard, one in blazing flames, another with a trail of shadows, one more with glyphs and a flurry of snow.

All four figures landed in the school courtyard. All members of Team RWBY with weapons ready, quickly the jumped in, joining the battle that persisted around them.

Ruby did not hold back. With every sense she had, time slowed down as she quickly cleared through groups of the monsters, saving countless unprepared students. The girl was too fast to see that some students didn't know what had happened.

Yang's flames burned through many creatures that came for her. Students who saw her coming let her take the kill, her blonde hair enveloped in golden flames. She had a wicked grin as she fought, delighted to hear the sound of bones cracking, armor breaking, flesh melting. No matter how big, the girl took down with ease through sheer force and heat.

Blake was having a grand time playing with the Grimm. She slices through them, her blade cutting them like mud but their remains were swallowed by the ground as she finished them. The more she cleared, the stronger she got. Her golden eyes darting through the courtyard as she tracked the monsters that tried to get through. She was at perimeter watch, keeping the monsters in one area.

Weiss barely touched the ground when she took to the skies once more. She was in charge of clearing flying beasts that circled unsuspecting students. Her blade's chambers rotated constantly as she used her dust, loading and reloading them quickly as they were used. With her skill using her blade, she quickly diminished the number of flying pests in the area. For the Nevermores, she didn't bother much and froze their wings, broke them, and sliced through their bodies before moving on to the next.

"Any sign of Cinder?" Someone asked them, through their coms.

Ruby's eyes lit up as she finished up her Ursai. "Qrow? Is that you?"

"Watch your six, kid." Qrow jumped in the fight, taking down a boarbatusk that was about to reach Ruby.

Qrow gave Ruby a pat on her head as he scanned the grounds, listening and sniffing out the scent of someone foreign. He looked up in the main building and saw a glimpse of glimmering red eyes like embers of a flame.

"Found her. Oz! She's heading for the vault!" Qrow reported.

Ozpin sped through the fights around him and headed to the vaults, catching up quickly to Cinder's group. Mercury and Emerald fought to hold him off, both of them pushing him back.

"Qrow. I need help." He requested.

"On it." Qrow quickly ran and turned to a crow and flying through the fights to get to the building.

Weiss heard him coming and directed him upwards to the top of the main building. "Keep Glynda protected, Qrow. " She ordered, sure that he'll follow her orders. The man couldn't do anything. She was right. Glynda had to be kept an eye on.

Even with the short amount of time they had, the Grimm had thinned out and the school staff was managing the fight. With this, they will be fine. Yang and Blake soon headed inside the building to follow Ozpin.

Just in time, the two an enemy for herself. Mercury took Blake. Yang fought Emerald. Gunshots rang out the empty halls, blades clashed on metal. Emerald and Mercury fought with the girls and noticed how the two even had time to exchange looks and grins.

Cinder's words echoed in their minds. She reminded them from their first encounter that they were not meant to be underestimated. They were not human. She made that very clear from that start.

There was a lingering fear in their eyes as they fought the two of them. Ozpin had gone through a and followed Cinder to the vault, trying to stop her the best he can but the fight with the four of them was hard to ignore.

Eme3rald was using up her bullets and couldn't load them fast enough. She has used her illusions but Yang shattered through them, her eyes burning red. The green-haired girl could feel the heat coming from the blonde, searing her clothes and skin. It was unnatural and odd. Emerald was terrified to stay this close to her as it felt like she was going to get burned by unseen flames.

Blake and Mercury looked like they were fighting fair and square but the way Blake disappeared and appeared around him through her shadows made out of various dust and the absence of light placed fear in Mercury's mind. Blake kept a smile on her lips as she used her blades to attack him, catching him off guard almost all the time. He tried to part with the girl, using his legs to catch the elusive girl but just like a cat, she was quick on her feet and sly.

Ruby and Weiss followed inside to catch up with their teammates, walking through the halls as they stretched. Weiss' eyes glowed slightly but were difficult to catch with light shining through the countless windows in the halls. Ruby knew that Weiss was just getting started.

"Stop playing with your food." The heiress told her teammates that were fighting ahead of them. Ruby was surprised by how she noticed it too.

Yang heard her and turned her head to both of them just as Emerald tried to grab her. "Oh? wanna play with them?"

"Weren't you mentioning how you were itching to burn someone?" Ruby asked her sister, spinning her scythe around her body, playing with it.

"Blake, the poor guy's losing it." Weiss taunted. Mercury started moving quicker but Blake kept her distance and appeared a few feet behind the man. Blake's smile turned menacing.

"Hungry." It was clear who was going to leave the fight alive. Blake grabbed him by his feet and dragged him quickly in the darkest corner of the hall, the man frightened. Weiss left the girl to do as she pleased but Mercury was never seen again even after Blake came out of the darkness.

Yang turned to Emerald whose eyes widened. She saw blood from Blake's lips, her boots coated with glittering red liquid as well.

"NO! GIVE HIM BACK!" The green-haired girl turned to the rest of them and attacked Weiss who seemed weaker.

"I told you, Yang. Stop playing with your food." Weiss barely raised her hand. Emerald ran to her with such speed that she didn't notice a large icicle the formed on the ground pierce through her.

"How..." Emerald looked up at the heiress with horror in her eyes. Even at the end of her life, she had a newfound fear for the girl.

Yang turned to the heiress and grabbed Emerald by her waist and carried her off the icicle, like a sack of potatoes. Blood spilled through the girl's corpse. "Sorry about that, princess."

Ruby chuckled. From when she found Weiss back when she murdered Adam, she found out a few things. Weiss had a personality different from her own. It was confusing but that personality was cold, unforgiving, and hard to read. The brunette gave her the nickname "Ice Queen" because of this. Weiss learned how to adjust to this. Even for a little, it was starting to get bearable to finish off her enemies in any method she liked. Grimm or otherwise.

"Weiss, let's go." Ruby urged, pointing to the direction where Ozpin was headed. "We have our prey to catch."

"I suppose so." Both Ruby and Weiss left Blake and Yang for the moment.

Yang made a pyre of flames and tossed the body of Emerald in it, watching it burn to dust. Her eyes looked up at Blake before glancing back at her sister.

"Weiss is getting scary." She remarked. Blake can't help but nod in agreement.
