One step forward

Weiss woke up in her room but in someone else's arms. Often, she wakes early alone but this time, the sun was already high up with the clock in her room ticking away the time. Thankfully it was just past six in the morning when she checked her scroll. She turned to investigate who was in bed with her and found Ruby sleeping comfortably next to her.

The heiress felt her head pounding and spinning immediately once she got her bearings. Immediately, she rushed to the bathroom to throw whatever she had last night which was nothing much. Unfortunately, it woke Ruby up who quickly appeared beside her.

"Oh hey...Easy there, princess." The brunette says as she rubs her back gently, half-asleep from the looks of it. "What happened?" Ruby asks.

Weiss shook her head as she threw out more fluids, the sensation of bile disgusting her. She reached for a towel to wipe her mouth before she looked up and flushed the toilet. "I don't feel so good."

"Oy, oy! You're not doing that! It's just the second day of school, princess." Ruby cupped her cheeks and forced Weiss to look at her. "Maybe I do have to bring to you the clinic this time. You have to eat something since you threw out a whole week."

Weiss couldn't agree more but she doesn't think her stomach can take anymore. Why did she throw up? All she remembers that Ruby and she were talking in the parlor and--Oh no.

"You fed on me last night...And I begged for more. Oh, by the gods. I begged for more and..." Weiss covered her face that immediately turned red upon recalling her behavior the night before. "Oh Ruby, what did I do--I'm so sorry."

Ruby chuckled, scooping the heiress in her arms to carry her to the clinic. "Don't be. It was fun~ I overfed from you and for some reason, you threw up. This is my fault." She leaned close to rest her head at Weiss' neck, inhaling her scent. "But I'm full for days thanks to you."

Weiss yawned, holding on to Ruby as not to fall. "No kidding. Maybe I can get a blood transfusion and train before we head to school. To the clinic we go~"She groaned, pointing towards her door. Ruby followed her orders and went down to the basement where a hallway was. It's well lit with doors to rooms that she didn't know lined up at each side of the hall, all with different labels on them.

"Ahhh...Seventh door to your left." She pointed, her voice weak and soft but loud enough for Ruby to hear.

The brunette rushed to the door, a scatter of petals awakening at her trail. She turned to look and noticed it. "Oh wow. I haven't seen those roses in a while."

"You're getting stronger...~" Weiss hummed, giggling. "Oooohhh.." She clutched her head as she feels her head pound.

Ruby entered the room, surprised to see it black and gold. The room is elegant and neat to the eye but it did strike her odd as to why the walls were dark. This is a clinic, right?

The clinic was a big room with curtained beds pushed to one side, medical equipment neatly lined at the other side, a washroom, a sink, and a desk where the young girl sat as she held a camera in hand. Her bunny ears stood in attention once they came in, surprising the poor girl.

"Ah! What--?" She turned to the pair, horrified to see them. "What are you doing here, you--Wait! Is that Miss Schnee?" She asked.

"Velvet..."Weiss moaned, half-unconscious. "Can you get me combat ready?"

Velvet ran to get a bed ready for Weiss to lay in. "Lay her down here, will you? Let me get my things." She requests of Ruby as she scampered to get a few things from a cabinet. "It's odd. No one usually comes here. I just stay here until I have to go to school again but this time. Miss Weiss, what did you do?" The brunette asks.

Ruby nervously laughed as she laid Weiss on a soft white bed. Weiss was weakly shaking her head. "I may have gotten her to stay up too late and now she needs a blood transfusion?"

"I'll see that for myself, Miss--Who are you again?" Velvet asks, returning to them with an array of supplies and things to use. "I forget who Miss Weiss brings home. I meant her team! Not the odd meaning around it."

"Oh, I'm Ruby Rose. I'm the team leader of Team RWBY." She replied, taking a seat nearby to watch at Velvet checked up on Weiss who fell back asleep. "So, how is she?"

"Well, she's in bad shape. How come she's got--That has to be wrong. You knew that she needed a blood transfusion?" The doctor, well Ruby assumed she's the doctor, rushed to take a few bags of Weiss' blood type and quickly infused it, careful as she inserted the needle.

Ruby just watched and looked around. The clinic was big enough to hold around four teams when in crisis. It would be unfortunate to see people here. It's cold, has no windows, and is secluded.

"While we wait, I suggest you go get ready for class. I'll send Weiss her way by the afternoon after she gets a good rest." Velvet advised Ruby. She took a glance at Weiss who was fast asleep once more. Velvet quickly covered the heiress' bed behind a curtain as not to disturb her rest.

Ruby has classes and she's the team leader. If the doctor says Weiss has to stay to recover, the heiress has to stay. That means she has to make up for Weiss in class. Get her notes, bring her up to date, stuff like that. It's the least she can do and it was better than sitting to wait for her to wake up.

"I'll be going ahead then," Ruby says, standing and walking out of the clinic.

"Oh, Miss Rose! Please do take care~ I'll see you in Beacon." Velvet says inside as Ruby walked out.

The girl got ready and left for class. Ruby informed the teachers that her teammate might be sick, asking their consideration. Yang and Blake didn't ask her why until they were out for lunch. Velvet informed Ruby when they met in the dining hall that Weiss was still unconscious and that she might not be able to join them, for class--for the rest of the day.

Ruby felt horrible considering she's the one who placed Weiss in the clinic in the first place. She mentioned to both Yang and Blake that she might have overfed from her. She had to leave out a few steamy details of the night but it was the gist of it and both the blonde and the Faunus got it.

"It might take a while for Weiss to wake up from her beauty sleep so when the day's over, keep an eye on her, alright?" Yang advised.

"Well, what else could I do?" Ruby sighed in defeat.

Blake smiled a little by the corner of her lip. "Well, you can always try kissing her to wake up." She suggested, sipping tea as she stared at Ruby.

Ruby slowly turned her head to Blake who was clearly up for the idea. "And why would I do that, Blake Belladonna?" She asked an eye twitching.

Blake giggled, leaning at Yang who was grinning. "That doesn't sound bad! I mean she is a princess."

"Of course you know she's a princess and I don't. I need to continue reading those archive scrolls at home." Ruby sighed in frustration. "No really, how do you know she's a princess?"

"I watched her music video." Yang took out her scroll and searched through it to show her sister something. "I doubt it's special effects. I read up what's the deal with Schnees and your kind recently. I was there when you were taken, Rubes. Research."

Ruby took her sister's scroll when she showed it to her, a video loaded up. "Mirror Mirror" Was the title of the song playing and the scenes played out were making gears in Ruby's head grind and work.

She watched the whole video and handed the blonde's scroll once more while Blake was snuggling with her. "See? Try the kiss thingy! Aside from a slap and awkwardness, what else can go wrong?" Blake suggested once more, grinning.

"Blake, I will personally turn you to a cat again to be my familiar. Do you want that, you cheeky little--" Ruby glared at the Faunus.

Yang laughed. "Hold it you two. Blake, love, no more teasing, and Ruby, enough with the threats. You know how Kitty hates the cat form."

"Yes, I hate it." She repeats, pouting. "Your mom may have told me to look after you but I can easily leave."

Ruby took a deep breath and gave up trying to make sense to any of the girls. After friendly conversations at lunch about who's hot, gay, or not in Beacon, they went back to class and as soon as the day was done, the brunette quickly went home.

As soon as the car stopped, Ruby raced to the clinic down in the basement but the moment she reached the floor, the whole hall was cold, her breath forming little puffs of fog. She shivered and with horrible dread, more than ever before. She raced to the clinic and broke down the frozen door only to see the whole room coated with a sheet of ice and frost from the floor to the ceiling, every single thing covered and frozen.

"Weiss?" Ruby entered frantically and ran to the heiress' side, wrecking the curtain just to see Weiss awake, crying, and curled up to a ball. "Hey, princess.." She gently called.

She recalled her dream a few nights back, her body lifeless, the floor froze, dark and dead silent. This was getting closer to that. Ruby broke a cold sweat and tried to find a way in her mind to stop that from happening.

Weiss looked up and turned to Ruby, her eyes swollen from crying. "I-I had a bad dream. I had a very horrible dream, Ruby."

Ruby sat in front of the girl by her bed, cupping the girl's cheek, her skin cold like snow. "It's just a dream, Weiss. You know dreams can't harm you, right?"

The heiress nodded, leaning into Ruby's soft and gentle hand. "No, they can't..."

"Do you want to tell me what happened in the dream, love?" Ruby asked sweetly, her silver eyes keeping hold of her icy blues. "What happened?"

Weiss bit her lip for a moment before she took Ruby's hand and holding it on her own. "In the dream...I..." It was unsettling and hard to get the words out but she has to tell Ruby.

"I died in your arms. Over and over again."
