Chapter 4
As Brendon and Sarah walked up the stairs, Brendon suddenly got nervous when one of the guests left his dad's room where he was having a meeting with King Weekes. He knocked on the door before he heard his father say, "Come in."
Brendon slowly walked inside, hand in hand with Sarah and he saw the immediate scowl on his dads face. "Brendon Boyd Urie we need to speak, right now."
King Weekes held hand in front of King Urie's chest. "Wait. Tell my son to come up here quickly, since you're obviously very close with him now." He scowled at Brendon, who then let go of Sarah.
They were both confused, and Brendon walked out of the room to go get Dallon. 'What did I do wrong?' he thought as he went to get Dallon.
He walked down into the ballroom and looked around for Dallon. As he looked around he noticed the guests giving him weird looks and scooting away from him as he walked by. He looked back at them confused. He asked a few people if they had seen Dallon and they shook their heads and walked away quickly.
Finally he found someone who pointed in the direction of where Dallon had gone. He thanked him quickly and hurried to go to where he was. He walked in the bathroom to hear him talking to the bath boy.
"Dallon I've been looking for you! Why are you in the bathroom?" He asked quickly and shook his head. "I need you to come with me right now! I don't really know why I just know that you need you to come with me." He grabbed Dallon's hand and dragged him back upstairs and to the meeting room where their parents were.
A soon as they walked in, Brendon hadn't let go of Dallon's hands so all that their parents and Sarah saw was Brendon and Dallon holding hands. Brendon and Dallon followed their fathers angry gazes and immediately let go each others hands. They looked at their parents with confused and sad faces, wondering why they might have been in trouble. Sarah stood with them, wondering if she was in trouble, too.
Brendon's father looked over to Sarah and gave her a sweet smile. "Honey, you've done nothing wrong, please go back and enjoy the party." He gave a small nod to her and waved his hand to the double doors. She nodded quickly and looked over at Brendon.
She smiled sympathetically at him and walked to the doors. Brendon grabbed her hand and mouthed something to her. "I guess i'll figure out that date of ours later." He smiled and let her go. She walked out of the room and left the two young men to their fathers.
"Urie, Weekes, one of our guests came up and told me that you two were dancing together. Is this true?" Brendon's father spoke loudly and angrily to the two.
Brendon sighed and nodded. "Yes sir it is true but if you'd allow me to explain why then..."
His father quickly cut him off. "I don't want to hear your excuses son. You will go back down to the party and apologize to every guest individually and..."
Now King Weekes had interrupted. "King Urie I understand that you're angry with them, as am I..." He glared at his son who just looked down in dissapointment. "... But I believe you should hear them out. I always listen to my son and I determine his punishment from their. He knows not to lie to me and I'm sure your son does, too."
Brendon looked to Dallon while they were having their side conversation and shrugged. Dallon shrugged back, looking down and sighing.
"Fine, Urie. Please, explain to me why you two decided to dance together. Then Dallon, you will explain this to your father later."
Brendon looked up hopefully and breathed in. "Yes sir. So I wanted everyone to do a big dance, to commemorate everyone being together for this party, and once everyone else had grabbed a partner, the only people who were left was me, Dallon, Sarah, and one male guest. I was going to dance with Sarah but I didn't want the male guest to be left out. I asked her to go dance with him so he wouldn't be alone. I had said that everyone needed to join and it was only me and Dallon left. The music and dance had already started and I made the snarky comment of dancing together because I had said that no one should be left out. We didn't think anything of it. We hadn't lifted each other up like the rest of the guests, only the hands and the spinning, Sir."
Brendon's father looked at him and nodded. He then looked over at Dallon's father and asked what he should do as punishment. King Weekes looked over at the two boys and back to King Urie. "Well, if it bothers you that much then you could forbid him to see my son ever again, but that seems a little extreme. Why not just have him do what you said earlier and just not let him enjoy the rest of the party." They whispered to each other for a few minutes before deciding what they were gonna do.
"Dallon, you don't need to explain anything to your father later, we both believe you." He sighed. "Brendon, you're going to apologize to everyone in this building individually, and once you're done, you will go to your room, change out of that suit and bring it to me. You will wait in here with me until the party is over and clean everything once you're done. Do you understand me?"
Brendon nodded slowly.
"As for you Dallon, you will be doing the same, but you two will stay at separate ends of the room at all times, do I make myself clear?"
Dallon nodded to his father.
"Now go you two." Both Kings barked at the same time.
The boys nodded and left the room to go and apologize to everyone. They saw Sarah a few feet away, and when she saw them she gasped and ran up to them.
"Are you boys okay? You're not in too much trouble are you?" She looked at Brendon and Dallon pleadingly. Dallon nodded and walked off downstairs to start apologizing. Brendon smiled down at Sarah and grabbed her hand, kissing it.
"Thank you for being worried, Love." He smiled and held her hand walking downstairs, explaining everything.
Sarah nodded and smiled. "Did you get to talk about that date of ours?" She smiled hopefully and followed him to the ballroom.
He shook his head. "No I didn't, but I will try when he is in a better mood." He smiled at her and kissed her forehead this time. She giggled. "Now I've got to get to my punishment, but I will try to see you later." He let go of her hand and smiled.
She smiled back at him. "Okay, i'll see you later, my prince." She sauntered away to go get some food.
-
Brendon made his way to his room after an hour and a half of apologizing and getting people to actually accept his genuine apology. He sighed and opened the door. He gasped when he saw Sarah lying on his bed reading a book. She looked up at him and sat up quickly.
"Sarah what are you doing in here?" He walked in his room and shut the door. He walked over to Sarah and sat beside her.
Sarah blushed and looked away. "You said that since you might not see me before the night was over, I figured that I would come see you where I knew you were headed."
Brendon smiled and kissed her forehead again and got up off his bd. "You wont be able to see me for long, I'm changing out of my suit and going up to my dad, remember?" He sighed and walked into his closet to change into pajamas.
Sarah nodded to herself. "Yeah but I just wanted to see you one more time before the night ends. It was such a lovely party after all. And I believe you still owe me a dance." She smiled and turned on the small radio in Brendon's room to some classical music.
Brendon poked his head out of his closet and grinned. "I do remember offering you a dance." He came out of the closet and walked over to Sarah. He grabbed her hand and pulled her to his chest.
She blushed madly and wrapped her arm around his neck. They danced for a short while, talking and dancing until Brendon had to go to his father.
"That was very nice and fun, Prince Urie." She smiled and laid back on his bed.
Brendon smiled and ran his hand through his hair. "I enjoyed that very much, Princess Sarah. I'd even have to say I liked that dance more than the one with Dallon." He chuckled and walked over to her.
"Please go back and enjoy the party. I will let you know when I have our date set up, yes?" He smiled and walked to the door to leave.
Sarah got up and ran towards him. "Wait, Brendon!"
Sarah tripped over the edge of the carpet they had accidentally kicked up while dancing. Brendon had turned around and went to catch her. When he did, they shared an accidental kiss.
Both their eyes widened and Sarah pulled back, embarrassed. Brendon chuckled behind her and gripped her waist softly. He turned her to face him and he caught her chin with his index finger. He pulled her to look at him and she was blushing beet read.
Brendon smiled and pulled her to give him a real kiss. They closed their eyes and enjoyed the moment. Sarah's stomach filled with butterflies and Brendon pulled away, grinning happily. "Now that was a much better kiss." He let her go and giggled at her dumbfounded expression.
"That was... Wow." Sarah smiled and let out a shaky breath.
Brendon smiled and opened the door, grabbing his suit off the desk. "I'd love to do that again, but I have to get back to my father." Brendon winked at her and took off down the hallway to his fathers meeting room, leaving Sarah to ponder if she was really falling in love with Brendon, or still just trying to use him so she can be princess. Maybe it was a little bit of both.
-
Brendon knocked on the door to the meeting room. When he heard his father tell him to come in, he walked inside and placed the suit on the table in front of his dad. Brendon's dad looked up at his son. "What took you so long? Dallon was done withing 45 minutes."
Brendon frowned and sighed. "Well I was apologizing to everyone and actually making sure they were accepting my apologies. Then when I went to go change, Sarah was in my room and I promised her the dance, but then well... you know that part already, and so I gave her what I promised then came straight back here.'
His dad nodded and pointed to a chair across the room and told him to go sit down and wait till the party was over. Brendon walked over to sit down and noticed Dallon's chair across the room in from of him.
Dallon smiled and mouthed a conversation between each other. Brendon told Dallon what happened between himself and Sarah. Dallon told Brendon that he almost got attacked by the old lady who came up to tell their fathers about the dance. Brendon laughed quietly and they talked until the party was over.
Once everyone has left and Brendon bid everyone adieu, the young men got to cleaning the castle from top to bottom, or at least where the guests were allowed to go. Brendon told the janitors that they were laid off tonight and they all happily went to bed. Brendon and Dallon were talking and laughing the whole time they were cleaning, even though they had to be so far apart.
When finished, they went up to the meeting room and let their fathers know that they were finished. They nodded and filled them in on the information they were talking about.
"Boys, we are having another meeting next week at the Weekes castle. Brendon, you will be coming with me, not to listen in, but your continued punishment will to clean their castle and mend their garden. Same thing goes for you Dallon."
Both boys nodded. Their fathers nodded back. "Okay Dallon, it's time for us to leave." King Weekes stood up and walked to the door with Dallon. "King Urie, it was nice to have this meeting. I look forward to our second one." He walked out with his son and went home.
Brendon stood in the room with his father. "Dad, can I talk to you?" He walked up to his father and sat by him.
His father nodded slowly, facing his son. "Yes, Brendon."
Brendon sighed and looked at his father. "I wanted to apologize to you separately and for everything. I know I caused a disturbance because of my dance with Dallon and I'm sorry if I disappointed you." He slowly looked down while he was talking.
He tensed up when he felt his dad hug him. "Son, I'm not disappointed in you, I was just angry because you know you're meant to dance with a princess and have a queen, but if you didn't mean anything by it then I forgive you son."
Brendon smiled and thanked his father. He left the room and went to his room to finally sleep for the night. He noticed a note on his bed that was signed from Sarah. "Thank you for the magical night."
He smiled and put the note on his desk and went to bed.
-
On the way home for Dallon, he apologized to his father as well, and spent the rest of the time laughing an joking with his dad. "You know son, I wasn't really that angry at you." He sighed. "I just had to be more of a dictator in front of Urie because you know how he is." He elbowed his sons head and ruffled his hair. "I love you, Dallon." King Weekes and his son smiled at each other and when they made it home, they went their separate ways, Dallon to bed and his father to do more work.
Dallon thought about that dance. It was the first time he has had fun like that in a while. He was suddenly happy to make jokes with Prince Urie when he came over for that next meeting.
