Chapter Twelve: Operation Save Lu!

Chapter Twelve: Operation Save Lu!

((Guys please read the Author's note))

**************************

After Willow had kidnapped Alexia on her pegasus, the Day went off quite normally. Well as normal as a camp of half-god and half-mortals can be.

Drake went to the arena to hack stuffed sacks made to look like humans. While Gwen told them she had somewhere to go to and skipped towards the direction of the beach.

Why was she headed to the beach? Fred had no clue.

When they departed, Fred decided to go train with the monsters in the forest, strangely, there we're very few of them and was hard to find. But he managed to find a few Stymphalian Birds, before he was called and went to train the younger campers from the Demeter cabin, Roman-Style.

Right now, Fred was recalling this as he ate with his siblings at the Ares table. He admit, the children of Ares were good warriors, but they were....reckless and lacked discipline.

He remembered Lupa the wolf that trained him before he went to camp. Teaching him that he should try to control his fatal flaw, which was being reckless. He tended to lunge into the battle without thinking twice, and he later learned self-control...well, sort of.

Since he had a short-temper, it was hard for him to not control himself. Another reason why Drake was his friend. That guy ticked him off so much Fred would've killed him already if he didn't control himself.

In a way, Drake was helping him control his recklessness and bloodlust. By pissing him off, he helped Fred learn ways to control himself.

How? By imagining he was slamming his head onto the wall, that's how.

"Hey Fred", Sera, his Greek sibling said, "Have you found out who was it that stuffed shaving cream into the pillows?", she asked, scowling.

Fred sighed, "No. But I'm sure it was one,of the Mercury kids"

"Hermes", she corrected,

"Whatever"

Fred didn't really know Sera that much, but as far as he knew, Sera wasn't really that bad. Behind her tough attitude she was actually a kind hearted girl who was ashamed of her soft side, thinking it made her weak.

He remembered how she had helped Alexia in her first day when they we're at the infirmary. She helped her By giving her nectar to heal her leg. And of course, she got hit by a chair in the process, courtesy of Alexia of course.

Who thought Sera was some kind of zombie and decided to go all 'John Cena' on poor Sera, who now brandished a wound on her cheek from where Alexia hit her with a chair.

Though Sera didn't seem to mind.

Speaking of Alexia, Fred hadn't seen her since what happened with Willow. Where was she?

A few minutes later, dinner had ended and the campers had went to their campfire activities. Normally, Fred would go with the them, but he was tired from training the younger campers, which was part of the reason the Romans and Greeks exchanged campers from time to time.  For training, capture the flag and sometimes parties.

Silently, Fred departed unnoticed from the group headed towards the beach, to where he could think his plan through.

But when he got there, he noticed a lone figure of a girl sitting cross-legged in the sand, her long red hair tied up in a pony tail. Unlike before, her hands weren't dirty with oil and her hair wasn't smudged with grime from working at the forges.

She was wearing boots and held something in her hands, her green eyes staring at the sea, calmy.

"Gwen?", Fred asked, surprised to see her alone at the beach.

The daughter of Hephaestus turned and blinked. "Oh, Fred, it's you", she said, smiling.

"Can I join you?", he asked, tentatively.

She nodded and he sat down beside her. "So what are you doing here? And what's with the violin?", he asked, pointing at the violin on her lap.

"It's nothing", she said, shyly before turning her attention to the beach.

"It's beautiful isn't it?", he said, making her look up at him.  "The stars"

Sh nodded and sighed, "I'm going to miss the beach"

He raised an eyebrow, "Really? I don't see you here very often"

She didn't answer him, so he knew she was hiding something, so he decided he didn't want to force her, it wasn't his business anyway.

"If you don't mind me asking", Gwen said, softly. "Why are you here?"

Fred sighed, "I came here to think"

"About what?"

Fred mentally argues with himself for a while, until he decided to tell her about Lu. How he felt like it was his fault she was gone and how he wanted to get her back to pay her back for an old debt --but he didn't give her much details about that one.

"It wasn't your fault, you know", the redhead said, after he finished. "But I won't stop you. In fact, I'll help you get her back"

Fred didn't know why, but a wave of relief and happiness crashed down on him. "You'd do that?"

Gwen shrugged, "Sure, why not"

He couldn't help but be elated. "Yes! It's settled then, we have to save her no matter what!"

Gwen smiled and stood up, making sure that the violin on her lap was placed gently on the sand. "Alright! Let's do this!"

"Operation save Lu!"

Suddenly, the sound of singing stopped and Fred realized the sing-along was over. Quickly, he bid Gwen goodbye and he rushed to the bright red cabin with the barbbed-wire covered roof, hoping that no one noticed his absence, while Gwen sat back down on the sand, before staring at the sea.

He couldn't help but smile, tomorrow was going to be one heck of a day.
