Chapter Three

“It's just a cat Lianne, it's fine, he's not trying to murder me, ” Lianne told herself as she backed away from Killian, wishing she'd thrown him out the first chance she'd gotten.

"Or am I?" She froze, who said that!?

Killian stalked towards her with hungry eyes, running his long claws across the carpet.

"Stay away from me" she spoke shakily, and before she could change her mind she sprinted towards the kitchen, and what met her eyes had her screaming. Aloe's lifeless body lay in a puddle of her own blood– something– no, Killian, had sliced her neck, her beautiful snow-white fur was now soaked with blood. Lianne quickly swung the drawer of the kitchen open, and pulled out a knife before turning in time to see a large man standing right in front of her.

He stood motionless before her, blue-green eyes fixated on her as a wolf might look at a sheep. His dark hair dangled before his face as he tilted his head in a very predatory manner, before lazily offering her a blood-chilling smile.

Lianne had never been more afraid than at that moment, as she took in the man before her, who practically screamed darkness and brutality. Not giving herself time to think, she drew her arm back and thrust it forward, but before she could do anything the man griped the wrist holding the knife and twisted, Lianne tried, she truly tried to hold onto the knife but with a pained whimper, it clattered to the floor.

"I did not kill little Aloe, " the man finally spoke, his voice gruff and clipped—but so notably male— Lianne couldn't help the tears that streamed down her face.

“ I fucking hate you, ” she whispered, venom dripping off each word, as she thrashed against him. The man only tilted his head in a way that triggered a memory “ did you kill Killian too?” she spat as she finally landed a hit on his shin, but instead of grimacing, he grinned.

"Oh sweet Lianne, I am Killian" he said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world— therfor she was so sweetly innocent/dense not to comprehend—  before giving her the same chill-inducing grin she'd seen only a few moments before on Killian, except on a man it looked even more dangerous.

It was Killian!

She started gasping, as she began to hyperventilate, and thrashed harder. Wiggling and squirming till it seemed to the man it would be easier to hold an eel. Suddenly the man tensed and pulled her against his body as he practically constricted her "Now is not the time, the rebels are right outside, " he whispered into her ear, and Lianne screamed.

The man growled in frustration before forcefully pushing something down her mouth while she'd been screaming, and before Lianne could spit it out he clamped her mouth shut with his huge hand, it was either swallow or suffocate...Lianne chose suffocation.

In the next few seconds it became rather clear to Lianne, that being woken by hands shaking her roughly, after being drugged, was extremely unpleasant—definetly a zero star rating—. When she finally forced her eyes open she discovered herself in a green field, that went on for miles with absolutely no sign of life...well until she turned around.

There, standing next to a huge silver  sword embedded into the ground, stood the man, because Lianne refused to call him Killian.

"Look around halfling," he gestured with an arm "there is no point in running...or perhaps you enjoy running?"

Lianne glared at him, but her mind screamed “halfing what now?”

"After all, that's all you seemed to do in that tiny apartment, " he stated calmly... he was mocking her! This shape shifting kidnapper was actually mocking her?! But she would not speak to this beast, no, worse than a beast.

"Does this form not please you? Would the cat satisfy you?" He spoke again, before sighing when Lianne didn't so much as glance his way.

"Fine, then we march towards The Kingdom of Azule, and don't look at me like that! ”

Like what? The murdering, abducting, beast you are? Oh my! Why would I ever do such a thing.

“ I didn't kill Aloe, I saved your life.” He said finally before stomping forward, did he expect her to follow? She nearly laughed, as if she'd be idiotic enough to simple waltz behind him like a stu–

Her thoughts froze as her body jerked forward and stumbled onto her knees utterly shocked, she wasn't tied to him or anything, yet she felt something jerk her forward...or maybe she was possessed.

"Am...am I possessed!??" Lianne shrieked, looking down at body as though she'd grown a second leg.

The man stared at her from where he stood a few yards away, his lips twitched "Yes darling, I've possessed you, and now you'll become part of my horde of wives" he purred.

Lianne nearly gagged, and her face must have said as much for he burst out laughing " You are much too easy to tease, you are not possessed...sadly"

Sadly!?!

"Don't give me that look doll, I only meant it would make this whole thing much easier," he said with a cool demeanor now back in the perfect place.

"You mean it'd make kidnapping me easier?" She snapped back, fully expecting him to break into a temper. Instead, he replied nonchalantly "Why Yes, it would indeed," then he started walking, and Lianne still on her knees, began to be dragged forward by some invisible force, until she managed to shift and dig her heels in with a growl.

"No!" She snarled and the man turned around with a stony expression "No what?" He barked.

"No, I will not march to your stupid kingdom and be part of your disgusting harem!!" Lianne spat and the man's eyes grew dark.

" I don't have a Harem, and have it your way darling, don't walk." every word was a sharp blade, carrying an edge she didn't like. Then suddenly, the meaning of his words sank in and she started backing away from him. Only to be met with the same force, except now it was holding her in place.

Lianne pushed and pushed back but the force was unshakable, she looked up at the man with confusion "Think of it like a rope, attached to both of us, you cannot be further than ten feet away from me, it'll wear off on its own" he seemed quite pleased with himself " and before you ask, it was the pill, mostly anyways"

"You're an asshole!

He smiled at that " yes, I am an asshole and a little menace, what can I say, the list goes on and on " how dare he throw her own words back in her face.

"I can't believe I considered keeping you," Lianne said more too myself than anyone.

"Well, to be fair, I can't believe I took pity on you and carried you to bed, "

Lianne felt her face begin to flush, he had carried her? Her eyes widened, but hopefully nothing else! Oh bloody hell!

The man looked at Lianne through long dark lashes, dark brows furrowed before understanding seemed to wash over him " but nothing else" he grumbled and Lianne immediately looked away. Had her dream when fricking real?!

And when she looked back up he wore a slight smug smirk, and without a word, he took silent long strides, and before she could even bat an eye he had swung her over his shoulder. His muscular arm gripping her bare thighs as her stomach lay on his broad, bare,  shoulder. And that's when Lianne noticed their attire— or lack of— she was wearing her usual jammies which consisted of shorts, which she now regretted buying so small, and an oversized Tshirt. The man on the other hand, didn't have a shirt on! He was bare-chested and wore dark trousers with a sword strapped at his hip...nothing else, not even shoes.

Does one simply not wear shoes when abducting? Was this a secret kidnappers rule or something!?

"Enjoying the view, " his silky smooth voice cut through the air like a sword, and his grip on her thighs turned painful when she didn't reply "You're hurting me!" Lianne snapped while placing her hands on his back, in attempts to prevent her face from face-planting with his lower back. Lianne dug her nails into his back for support which earned her a strangled growl, causing her to blush, but his grip on her thighs thankfully loosened.

"Not that you care, but my name is Roman, and I am doing this for my Kingdom, nothing personal" his voice was a deep rumble beneath her as he spoke, and despite the fact he had just stolen Lianne, her stomach did an uncomfortable flip.

"Let me down," she protested as she discovered this position extremely uncomfortable, she kept slipping onto his back which caused him to reach higher up her thighs for grip and her treacherous body was reacting, especially when he was practically groping her ass. Lianne dug her nails deeper into his back and Roman hissed before dropping her as though she was on fire.

Lianne landed hard on her bottom and she looked up at him accusingly "I didn't say to toss me Roman" she hissed out his name, Roman's only response to her words was a hot burning gaze, and his eyes seeming to darken when she used his name. Why was he crossed? He gave her his name. Roman kept staring though, and it made her squirm until he wordlessly walked forward. Leaving her to gasp when she saw his back and instantly felt only slightly guilty.

She'd scratched his back up, she quickly schooled her features when he glanced back though because there was no way she was telling him she'd scratched his back and left angry red marks.

She considered standing her ground but then she felt the tug and quickly jogged ahead to reach Roman, he seemed to be trying to avoid her now.

What a strange man.

They walked for hours, Lianne was hungry, tired, sad, mad and everything under the sun but Roman didn't stop till night had fallen, as though he was trying to burn off some tense energy...or anger if his stomping, tense, body was any indication.

Lianne was so exhausted she kept walking even when Roman had stopped, until he gripped her by the waist and settled her on a log before slithering off into the woods only to return a few minutes later with some wood and within seconds there was a fire which did little to warm her.

"I will be back, stay close to the fire" Roman said before running off, Lianne didn't care the least bit, let him get killed or something, but much to her dismay... he returned, but at least he carried a large dead rabbit.

It was already gutted and skinned and he only needed to cook it "Lianne" he started hesitantly " I need to explain some things to you before we reach the palace tomorrow night--"

Lianne knew she needed to listen but she was so tired she could barely keep her eyes open, she kept nodding off but the shivers running through her body made it impossible despite the fire being right in front of her.

"I'm so cold" Lianne moaned and she brought her knees as close to her chest as possible till she resembled a small, tight ball and she vaguely heard some movement before a hard surface was behind her quite suddenly and large arms wrapped around her " The fire should have warmed you by now," Roman said thoughtfully from behind her and she hated how close he was, but she was freezing! So she reluctantly leaned back onto his warm chest and nearly sighed at his heat.

" I am most definitely not warm," Lianne told Roman and his only response was to wrap his arms tighter around her and she shivered from something else entirely causing him to stiffen in response, but didn't let go. Roman needed his wings now, to warm her so in the midst of the silence was heard the cracking of bones along with the sounds of flesh tearing open. Roman to groaned in pain before finally a pair of dark wings sprouted from his muscular back. Lianne gasped as the wings came around her, acting like a blanket and Roman practically purred, from what exactly was completely unknown to her.

"Roman...what are you? What is this place?" She suddenly asked, " and don't you know Kingdoms don't exist?"

"I was wondering when you'd ask the tough questions" Roman whispered from right behind her, his face alarmingly close to her neck.

"I am a High ranking Shifter, I need only know what a creature looks like before I can shift into one myself, of course, they always have a uniqueness that indicates I am the shifter," Roman explained and Lianne found herself enthralled with his feathery wings which twitched before her, she lightly ran a finger along the bone structure and Roman's entire body shuddered.

He gave a strangled growl "Lianne continue doing that and I won't be held responsible for what follows" Lianne gasped, what had she done? Did it hurt him?

She turned back to look at him and his blue-green eyes became drenched with something dark before he abruptly shook his head as though trying to rid himself of a fog.
Lianne quickly looked ahead "Tell me everything...please Roman," she said softly yet firmly, choosing to ignore his previous comment.

"I was sent by the King to keep you safe and retrieve you upon your 20th year, this world is not your own. How do I explain" he seemed to be frustrated by it all " The sword at my hip acts as a portal between wor-- OH! " he abruptly stopped midsentence as a light bulb seemed to go off.

" While I stayed in your world I read a book, anyway, my sword is like the wardrobe that led to Narnia, and in many ways, my world is like Narnia. Creatures who do not exist within your borders are very much well and thriving in my world."

Narnia! Mythical creatures? Shifters, portals, my goodness! How was Lianne even involved in this?

"Why am I here," She said surprisingly calm, unlike how she felt inside.

"The Kingdom of Azule was once ruled by a merciless king, who took joy in killing and only valued the unjust and although brutality is a constant in the world of Aquiline the King took it too far" Roman paused for  dramatical effect she supposed before continuing

" That king was overthrown by the current king and all his heirs were killed...except for one illegitimate child who until recently was thought nonexistent"

Lianne found it a very intriguing story " And why did it take them so long to find the heir, doesn't he pose a threat or something of that sort to the kingdom"

When Roman spoke he sounded amused "Indeed, the reason it took the General so long to find the child was because a strong glamour was placed onto the child at birth by the mothers request to the old king, a glamour which eliminates the scent and any magical abilities to be repressed till the 20th year of life"

" That's incredibly smart," Lianne said, "but where is he now and what's this got to do with me?" She would later see how naive she was being, but at the moment she was blissfully unaware.

"Not he Lianne but she, and she happens to be snuggled comfortably in my arms" Roman's voice was incredibly soft and the heavy silence that followed was thick enough to slice.
