-Alpha Ethan Rivers-

Standing outside on the balcony that’s attached to Alpha Ethan’s guest room, he stares at the stars, and closes his eyes. He's currently not home, and can’t wait to get back home. Alpha Ethan is at Pack Rivers, war was just announced and they had a few funerals in a short time period, along with Wolfsbane being used on one of them.

That’s not the strangest thing that has happened since Ethan got there. He got a second mate, Alpha Ethan knew the second he came on to the property of the pack house. Ethan didn’t react well, honestly he didn’t believe it, even though he felt the sparks, but it felt different. What Allie and Ethan had, it can’t be replaced, but him having a second mate, during this time of war. It’s got to be related somehow, Alpha Ethan thinks to himself.

The Alpha has been there for six months straight, they’ve been planning war and figuring out who was making the small packs disappear. They also found out about vampires and a war that happened a thousand years ago. They believe the vampires were involved with the past events in Ethan’s life. He misses his home, he hasn't been to their graves for six months. When Alpha Ethan leaves there tomorrow morning, he won't be leaving alone, his second mate is coming with him.

His second mate's name is Anna Rivers, the younger sister of Alpha Mason of Pack Rivers. Everyone is calling it a miracle, but Ethan calls it a curse, she’s not Allie. Alpha Jack swears this is Luna the Moon Goddess’s doing, and it's a second chance. Alpha Jack also claims it’s because Alpha Ethan plays an important role in the war to come, he calls bullshit. Ethan thinks sometimes, the Moon Goddess just wants him to suffer. He thought she only gave him a mate to continue the Alpha line, since he lost Allie, Ethan needed a new mate to do so.

Someone knocked on his door, “Come in!” he shouted. Alpha Ethan turns around and it’s an omega standing in the doorway. He ran his fingers through his black hair, and closed his crystal blue eyes. “What is it?” The Alpha dares to ask.

“Luna Anna sent me to remind you of the both of you leaving in the morning,” the omega informs him. Alpha Ethan nods and dismisses them, and they close the door behind them.

It’s true the Alpha marked his second mate, and with intercourse, but there isn’t much there, if they weren’t mates made by Luna their Goddess they wouldn’t be together. There’s no passion between them, and they lack chemistry. Alpha Jack said to be patient with himself, and to let himself be happy; How can he? What Ethan has with Anna it's not the same like it was with Allie. What they had together was natural, it was just like a fairytale, until it wasn't.

Six years ago...

"Ethan,"

"Ethan, wake up,"

"Mmmm," Ethan responded, not wanting to get up.

"ETHAN!" His mother yelled at him.

"I'm up," He managed to say. A few minutes pass, and he hasn't gotten up yet. Ethan then feels the covers getting pulled off of him. "Get the hell up, Ethan," mom demands of him.

He finally got out of bed after she said that. Ethan gets dressed and gets ready for his senior year. It's a big year for him, he's a quarterback, and it's a big year for big parties and getting laid. Ethan will also turn eighteen in a few months. He could find his mate this year.

His best friend Callum is waiting outside. "Dude, what took so long," he said.

"Sorry, man, I didn't mean to keep you waiting," Ethan replied. Callum just rolls his eyes and starts to drive them to school. On their way to school, he saw a pretty cute girl walking to school. They pull into the park, and the girl is walking through the parking lot; she looks oddly familiar. The two make eye contact as the blonde hair girl walks through the lot.

The halls are crowded with people going to their lockers before class. Ethan went to his locker, and the girl who came over to his house a lot came over. She was just some meaningless fling for the summer. She kisses Ethan on the cheek and tells him she will see Ethan in gym class. He was hardly paying attention. The girl who looked familiar was a few lockers down from him; he can't place a name on her face.

Ethan's summer fling came over to his locker earlier and sat on his lap, whispering in his ear what she wants to do later. Gym class is boring right now because the year just started, so the class just sits on the bleachers. Ethan blush at what she says. Before he responds the bell rings and gym class is over.

The next class was Bio, and he had that with Callum. They walk in. Ethan sees everyone standing up, but they try to sit next to each other in the back. It didn't work, sadly.
Callum gets told to stand with the others, and Ethan gets seated next to that same girl he saw earlier, in the front row. He feels like he knows this girl, Ethan feels a headache coming trying to remember her. She doesn't seem to be too pleased about him being her partner. Ethan was staring at her and she said something. He didn't hear her. He couldn't help but to look at her trying to remember. "What?" She asked.

"Oh, sorry, didn't mean to stare; you just look really familiar to me; what's your name," Ethan told her.

"Are you serious?" She asked, all pissed off.

"Yes?" He said, unsure. She rolled her eyes and said something else but didn't hear her. Ethan wasn't paying attention to what their teacher was saying either. He can't remember this girl's name.

After bio Ethan still thinks about his bio partner "Ethan are you with us?" His teacher snapped him out of his thoughts.
"Yes I'm sorry,"

"Can you answer the question Mr. Alpha?" His teacher mocks Ethan.

"Can you repeat it please?" He asked.
"Sure, can you come up to the board and solve for X?" Mrs Harkwick asks a second time. Ethan sighs and gets up to solve the problem, but he doesn't know the answer. So he put down random things on the board to be funny.

"Ethan what's that?" Mrs Hardwick questioned.

"The answer," he told her, smirking. The class laughs at his drawing which is some stuck figures doing not class appropriate things.
Mrs. Hardwick gives him a detention for not paying attention and inappropriate behavior after school. So after his last class, which is next, he has to stay an extra hour.

The last class goes fast, but detention goes slow, the blonde haired girl has gotten back into his head.

After school, Ethan was still stumped, and he didn't think Callum knew her either. It will bother him as to why he thinks he knows her.

-Allie Harlington-        

School was interesting for her today. Allie didn't know what was going on with him; he just kept staring at her. Ethan also didn't remember who she was or that he was picking on her. Allie isn't too sure which. He was just looking at her every chance he could get, and she's not sure why.

Ethan has been ignoring Allie ever since she moved out of the Pack House. That was years ago, almost ten years ago, her father died when she was eight. Ethan and Allie were best friends, they did everything together, but today was the first day he even acted like she existed. It hurt her when he asked who she was. Like those years of being friends meant nothing. At least Ethan's cousin Tori says hi to Allie every once in a while, but in the end, they drifted anyway. They all did.

Allie goes home and takes care of her mother; ever since her father died, she hasn't been the same. A werewolf dies shortly after their mate dies. It's like they lose a part of themself. Her mom has Allie, so her mom has been trying, but she's always in pain. She sometimes forgets that her father is dead. Those are the bad days. Those are the days Allie wishes she had Ethan there for her to lean on or her father. Allie couldn't grieve for him; she had become the parent.

Allie cooks dinner, and she makes sure her mom eats hers, then Allie eats hers. Then she has to bathe her. After Allie helps her mom in the bath and bathes her, she's having a bad day today; usually, Allie won't bathe her.

After Allie bathed her, she did her homework, and luckily it was the first day of school, so there wasn't much. After she finishes her homework, Allie gets ready for the next day, she showers, and puts her clothes out for the morning. That's when Allie felt safe to cry. She cries and cries until she's all dried out. These are the days Allie wishes she had Ethan to lean on. She fell asleep missing her dad and Ethan. Allie misses her old life, before her father died.

No one told them how he died, just that he died fighting. Alpha Jacob didn't tell them who he even was fighting. Allie's not sure she will get answers to what happened that day, and why Ethan doesn't talk to her.
