| Chapter 1: Red Dawn |
The sun shines upon the world as a new dawn awakens a small village at the edge of the woods. Inside a tiny wooden cottage, a young white hedgehog awakens from her slumber.
"Another beautiful day..." she yawned as she rubs the sleep away from her green gem eyes.
The young woman walks to the window of her bedroom to watch the morning sun rise, with a smile upon her face. This young hedgehog was named Clara the Hedgehog.
"Oh! That's right!" Clara said with sudden realization.
The young girl changes from her light blue night gown...
...into a long-sleeved vest with a dark brown skirt and a pair of black flats.
She then runs into the small kitchen and gets to work.
Over an hour passed and the faint scent of cooked food reached the rooms of two males awaking them from their blissful dreams. Both are the same as Clara, they are hedgehogs, however their colors are different. The younger male has blue quills and green eyes while the older hedgehog has a scar over his left eye and is a darker shade of blue and has green eyes as well.
"Good morning, Father." Sonic greeted, stretching his arms.
"Good morning, Son." Jules greeted back, rubbing his eyes.
The two talks amongst each other as they walk into the kitchen, too much to their surprise they found an entire spread of food on the table. Clara scared them by sneaking up behind the men and let out a loud shout. The young girl laughs at the two men scared by her actions.
"Clara, my child your about to send me to an early grave!" Jules panted, touching to where his heart is.
"I'm sorry, Father. I couldn't help myself." Clara giggled.
"Clara, what's this feast laid before us?" Sonic asked.
"Well dear brother, since you're going to be gone for a year, I thought a good breakfast would be good enough time for us to spend us with each other before you guys leave." Clara said with a dazzling smile.
"Aww! Clara! You shouldn't have! Now I don't want to leave!" Sonic cried and hugged Clara.
"S-Stop! You know how I feel if you cry, you make me cry..." Clara whined, trying not to cry.
"I-I can't...!" Sonic sobbed, as the two began to cry like toddlers.
Jules chuckled at how funny these kids are. Oh, how he wishes his wife was here to see this.
"Alright, alright, you two. Calm down. Let's enjoy our feast while we still can." Jules ushers his children to the table.
Clara and Sonic eventually pulled away and took their seat along with Jules as they began to eat their meal. Their conversation was heartwarming and non-stop. Nothing can be better than spending time with your family. Sadly, this will be the last time Clara's going to have, not knowing what fate has come for her as an unknown comes by.

Clara waved her father and her brother goodbye, the two rode in their old family carriage. Jules waved back at her from the driver's seat as Sonic stuck his head out of the window. Once they're far away, Clara sighed, feeling sadness creeping into her heart watching them leave. The young lady knows that her father will be back in a few weeks. Yet, it will still be a year before she'll see her beloved older brother again. Clara misses them very dearly and prays to God that they will have a safe trip. She then walks back inside the house to grab her satchel and book she had just finished reading. Clara grabs her bonnet before stepping out of her home and begins to walk down the path to the village of Green Hill.
"Good morning, Clara!" Vanilla greeted with a smile as she opened her bake shop.
"Good morning, Mrs. Vanilla." Clara greeted back happily.
Mrs. Vanilla was such a gentle soul to everyone in the village, Clara looks to her like a second mother after the death of her own.
"Where are you off to, dear?" the baker woman asked as she lays out loafs of bread on the outside stands.
"The bookshop! I just finished the most wonderful story, about a headless horseman, tension between reality and imagination, between the natural and the supernatural." Clara rambled, while the older rabbit just smile at the young hedgehog.
"Oh-ho! That's nice. Cream! Are the breads good?" Mrs. Vanilla called into the bakery.
Then a small rabbit child steps out of the door with a basket of different kinds of bread.
"Yes Mother, they are! No molds, no nothing." the child said with a smile.
She then notices Clara standing next to her mother and beams.
"Good morning, Ms. Clara!" the child gives the basket to her mother before running to the white colored hedgehog and giving her a hug.
"Hello, Cream! Did you sleep well, did you have any more nightmares?" Clara asked the little girl, but she just nodded her head.
"Oh, yes! Thanks to your help and prayer, I got a good amount of sleep without any nightmares."
"That's wonderful. Remember, God is always there for you and listening to you. All you must do is keep believing in his love and continue to pray." Clara said, giving the child a smile.
"I will!" Cream exclaimed to the young woman.
Just as Clara was about to go, she turns to the little rabbit once more.
"Don't forget about the upcoming class tomorrow." Clara informed the child before walking off.
"I promise, have a good day, Ms. Clara! And God bless you!" Cream shouted as Clara giggled at the girl's enthusiasm as she waves to her.
It didn't take to long for Clara to reach to the local book shop. She walks inside as the hanging bell rings. From behind the desk, the clerk perked and looked up to reveal a Mobian owl, 'Harvey Who'.
"Ah, Clara." The elder owl greeted warmly before fixing his round glasses.
The owl was well over 70 years old, he had been working in this establishment since her parents were children.
"Good morning. I've come to return the book I borrowed." Clara said, handing him the book titled "Sleepy Hollow".
"Finished already?" Harvey chuckled as Clara climbed up the ladder to look at the books from the top shelf.
"Oh, I couldn't put it down. Have you got anything new?" Clara asked as she skimmed through the rows of books.
"Not since yesterday." Harvey laughed, placing the book into the shelf.
Clara smiled and looked at the books before finding the one that suited her.
"That's alright. I'll borrow this one."
She hands him the book titled "Little Women" that completely surprised the old owl.
"That one? But you've read it twice!" Harvey stated.
"Well, it's my favorite! Four March girls' journeys from childhood to adulthood, centers on the conflict between two emphases in a young woman's life-that which she places on herself, and that which she places on her family. Especially, the drama love story!" Clara explained with a passionate smile on her face.
"If you like it all that much. It's yours!" Harvey said, giving her the book.
Now that completely surprised her, for never in her entire life has Harvey ever allowed a person to keep a book from shop.
"But sir!" she tried to decline.
"I insist." Harvey said as he opened the door for the young mademoiselle.
"Well, thank you. Thank you very much!" Clara thanked before walking out of the bookshop as Harvey bid her a goodbye.
Clara looks at town clock that was in the center of the village to see the time. She gasps as she quickly rushes to the market. If she didn't hurry, then she won't be able to have anything for dinner tonight. Placing her book in her bag and began to run, not paying attention to what's in front of her. Clara looked up a little too late as she bumped into someone, causing her to yelp.
"Sorry! I'm so sorry! I must go!" Clara apologizes before rushing past him, not bothering to look at whom she bumped into.
It was the mysterious dark hooded stranger; it was very strange for it was in the middle of summer. Underneath the hood, they watched where the young woman rushed off. They smirked to themselves, revealing a sharp canine tooth.
"I've found you..."
