~ The Blind Princess ~

Once upon a time there were a kingdom which was thriving, wealthy ans often peaceful. But a terrible witch lived in its forest, her name was The Evil Witch Griselda Of The Giant Forest. Griselda was an ancient fairy, but she was banished from her people because she stole the wings of her neighbour, who became the laughing stock of the fairies; Griselda wanted to fly as high as possible.

In this kingdom, at the time of kings, there was a princess who had just turned sixteen. She was blind, this handicap unfortunately earned her the nickname The Blind Princess. The Blind Princess' name was Amelia of Vasselia, she was adventurous, impatient and she dreamt of seeing the world.

She was the daughter of the King Hans of Vasselia, who was always busy and very serious, and the Queen Frederika of Vasselia, a strict and shrewd person. Amelia of Vasselia had two siblings, a little brother and a little sister. Prince Andrew was chivalrous, he loved hunting and he loved his family. Princess Charlotte looked like an angel but she hated her sister and she often made fun of her.

Amelia knew she was the shame of her family. She was afraid that her parents would disinherit her because of his disability. Every day, she did a good deed, hoping for a miracle.

One day, whilst Amelia was looking for a person in distress, her sister was painting a beautiful landscape on the fortifications. Andrew was going hunting with their father and her mother was putting on her Sunday best for the ball of tonight. It was organised every year for the premier Friday of spring.

During her journey, she heard a peasant who was looking for something, so she walked toward him and asked if he was in trouble, to which he answered that he lost his horse and he didn't find it. The nice princess then offered to help search for him even though she was blind, but she had a great ears. She entered the Giant Forest, following in the direction of a noise until she finally found the horse near a weird house. It was weird because it was thatched and had a lot of ivy on the walls. An old lady came out of this odd abode and saw Amelia with the horse before calling her name. With the horse by her side, Amelia approched the woman.

The old lady introduced herself as Griselda, the nicest fairy of the world. This name, Griselda, gave Amelia a sense of deja vu. Griselda invited her to have tea; she accepted. Amelia explained to her that she was blind. Griselda, like the nice fairy that she claimed, offered the gift of sight to Amelia in exchange of a favour. She accepted the mission and Griselda gave her a ring that made her dearest dream come true. It was a golden jewellery, ornamented by a dark ruby. Amelia could see the old woman straight ahead of her. The small cottage was narrow, the kitchen and the living-room were in the same room and two doors surely leading to the bathroom and the chamber weren't be wide. She loved seeing, it was even more wonderful than in her dreams.

The request was to find the Fairies' Town. Amelia agreed. She was over the moon. She mounted the horse and she explored the forest. She loved to look at the trees and the flowers. The landscape shone bright like a diamond to her eyes, brightly coloured plants shimmered on the grassy ground and the sun illuminated the trees which hid it, shaded the sunbeams like a lost star.

Amelia arrived in the town, it was peaceful, the houses were large residences made of oak wood, the fairies walked on streets paved with marble and white quartz. But when Amelia discovered the Fairies' Town, Griselda came out right above the village and she destroyed it. She ravaged the village with a laser; her magical power.

Fortunately, Prince Andrew, who was hunting on his horse, heard the din and rushed over to it through the town.
Prince Andrew arrived on his wonderful horse. Griselda jumped with surprise and she stopped using her magical power. She looked at him and she recognized the young man. He stood up on his charger and drew his sword.
Then, the evil witch summoned monstrous creatures. Andrew waved his long weapon and eliminated the demons.
Uncessuceful from her from her previous attempt to defeat the prince, she made a grimoire appear in front of her, whose pages turned by themselves. She recited a devilish, magic formula and suddenly fountains of fire gushed from the floor and the sky. The majestic Prince eluded the attack of his adversary and he threw his broadsword into Griselda's heart. She left the heavens  reaching the land. The evil witch of the giant Forest disintegrated herself and dissapeared into a deep sleep also known as death.
Triumphant, the prince smiled. Andrew was thanked by the fairies with a crown of golden flowers.

The mysterious ring turned to ashes, Amelia's eyes went back to normal and she was never to be able to see the world again for eternity. Amelia retained that she will never give her trust to strangers again and she had to accept herself.

Thanks to the heroic rescue of the prince, the ball could take place with the fairies. Amelia had fun. She met a beautiful prince who she married and they lived happily ever after.
