Chapter 4: The Joestar Party Arrives

Gladius POV

As soon as the hotel room door closed behind me, I let out an annoyed sigh. Why was I having to work with these sorts of people? I knew the answer, but it didn't mean I was pleased about it. Completing this task for DIO could perhaps provide one answer that had lingered in my mind, the cryptic entry in my ancestor's diary. The money was an added bonus.

After composing myself, I left the room behind, making sure to lock it behind me, pocketing the key. It didn't take me long to come up with my plan should the Joestar group show up. First off, I needed a change in attire.

Returning to the reception area, I saw the woman who booked me the room earlier still there. She wouldn't fit my purpose, instead. I had to find a more suitable candidate to take their uniform.

And find them I did, after only a minute or two, I stumbled upon a male employee sweeping the floors. I didn't waste any time, I swiftly rushed forward before the employee could notice me and struck him on the back of the neck, knocking him out in an instant.

Of course I didn't kill him. I HATED senseless murder. In fact, I hated assassination jobs as well, if it wasn't for the mysterious nature of this job and my client, I'd have turned it down in a heartbeat.

With the employee out cold, I dragged them to the nearest toilets, making sure to avoid anyone along the way. Once inside, I didn't completely change my outfit, I just put the hotel attire over my traditional outfit and left the man in the toilet. Muttering quietly to myself "Thank you for your help."

The first stage of my plan was successful. Now from here it was a gamble. Would the Joestar group arrive here as per Devo's prediction? He seemed pretty confident about it. However only time would tell.

Regardless, I made my way back to the front desk and it seemed I was blessed as I saw the receptionist from earlier packing up her stuff and walking out of the door. I quickly assumed the spot in her stead and begun my wait.

Time to see if the mouse would finally come into the cat's paws...

Timeskip...

One hour, two hours, maybe even three. It took time, patience and possibly luck considering only one member of the hotel's staff came to take over the desk and upon seeing me there, just left. Obviously thinking I'd taken the shift.

And yet, in the end, it all paid off. As the door to the hotel opened, a series of figures entered and my heart nearly stopped for a moment as I recognized four of the six immediately. As the entourage stepped forward, the old man whom I believed to be Joseph Joestar, spoke.

Image of Joseph Joestar:

"Ehh... we'd like to book rooms?" I nodded, glad the disguise was working as I answered "Of course. Let me have a look at what we have available." I'm so glad that in my time waiting, I'd grown familiar with the software here so I was able to check no problem, I'd also erased my booking from earlier as well, leaving 912 available once more.

Turning back to the group, I responded "Sorry, we tend to be booked out this time of year. But we do have some available." Letting them have a look at the openings, I asked "Are these any good?"

This time, the one to speak was the man in Egyptian attire, Muhammad Avdol if I'm not mistaken. He studied the rooms and said "Yeah, that should be fine." I warned "The rooms are located on different floors, just so you know." Joestar replied "Well, I guess we're stuck."

Image of Muhammad Avdol:

I got out the necessary documents and passed them over the desk saying "Very good. If you'd fill these in for me please." Joestar did exactly that. As he did he said "Uh, for the rooms... Avdol and I will share a room."

The next to speak was the boy I believed to be Noriaki Kakyoin, with a smile, he said "It'd make sense for Jotaro and I to share a room. Since we're both students." The one known as Jotaro just closed his eyes and grunted in response.

Images of Noriaki Kakyoin and Jotaro Kujo:

I made a mental note of all this. I had the four I knew about all accounted for already. However there was another with the group I didn't recognize, a man about my age with white hair. I remembered what Devo had said about two hired Stand users that turned against DIO. Hierophant and Chariot, perhaps he was one of them.

I got his name as Joestar said "That leaves the last room to Polnareff and..." It was at this point I noticed the child with them. A young girl who couldn't be much older than eleven. She let out a retching noise, sticking her tongue out and exclaiming "You're kidding! Like I'd room with that guy!"

Images of Jean Pierre Polnareff and the girl:

The man called Polnareff called out "What?!" Only for the girl to make a childish face at him. I tried hard not to facepalm at this. Joestar commented "Well, she may be a child, but lets give the young lady her own room. We'll take four rooms please." I nodded and said "Right."

I handed the keys over, among them was the key to 912, Devo's little trap. Right away, Polnareff grabbed hold of that key and said "Fine, I can relax more in my own room anyway! I'll sleep like a baby tonight!" The corner of my mouth twitched as I tried not to smirk. Oh yeah, you'll be resting easily for sure.

With that he strutted off, calling after the others "Let's go! We've been through all kinds of Hell, ever since we left Hong Kong. We should hurry up and take a shower. In a place where it's actually safe."

The rest followed silently after him. And it was now that I allowed the façade to drop. My smile was replaced with a cold malicious stare as I eyed the group ascending the staircase.

(Cue the eerie lettering floating past while Gladius stares).

I wasted no time picking up the phone and ringing up to room 912. Soon the voice of Devo could be heard snapping "What?!" I explained "You'll be having company shortly. The one known as 'Polnareff' is on his way to you. Don't have too much fun now."

Devo chuckled darkly before saying "I'll look forward to it." I hung up instantly, placing the desk's phone down and taking a moment to compose myself. The trap had been laid, I just needed to wait for the right moment to execute it...

Timeskip...

I remained at the desk for about half an hour, planning the best method of attack. I knew I couldn't take them all on at once, I'd have to wait for one of them to become separated from the group. Polnareff had done just that, but he was Devo's prey by now.

As if answering my thoughts though, a voice spoke up. "Hi, excuse me?" Looking up I was surprised for a moment when I saw KAKYOIN stood at the desk, a calm smile across his face. I responded "Yes, is there something you need?"

Kakyoin asked "Yeah, um. Do you know if this place has a pool, if so, could you point me to it?" I responded "Of course." Pointing down a corridor off shooting from the main reception, I explained "The pool is just down that way, you'll know it when you see it, you can't miss the door. That leads onto the outdoor pool area."

Kakyoin smiled again "Great, thank you." I nodded "No problem." As he walked away, I couldn't fight the smirk that appeared across my face. Everything was playing right into my hands.

Noriaki Kakyoin would be my first target!

Author's Note: And that's it for this chapter, the next one will be Gladius vs Kakyoin, my second Stand battle and the first one against a Crusader. I really hope you enjoy and as always, thank you for reading.
