Chapter 15: Enya the Hag's Trap
Enya POV
FINALLY! Justice had been served! The bodies of the traitors Hol Horse and Gladius lying in front of me was proof enough of that. I honestly couldn't held the grin that stretched from ear to ear across my face!
My joy was short-lived however, as I heard a voice from Joestar calling out. "Is something wrong Polnareff?" Kakyoin's voice followed "I thought I heard a strange noise." The voice that made my skin crawl responded to both. "I'm going to take a look downstairs. I'll be in the lobby, call me if you need anything.
I looked around the door and sure enough, there he was. Curse that Polnareff! I'd rip his insides out. For now though, I couldn't let him find the bodies of Hol Horse or Gladius. If he saw them, he'd call the others and that would only make things needlessly difficult.
I silently had the zombies hide both bodies under a nearby sofa before giving them the order to hide as well. I couldn't afford him seeing them yet either. That wretched Polnareff's voice spoke once more, only adding to my rage.
"Oh Madame, are you here? I thought I heard some kind of crash. I'm coming in Madame!" So, it was now or never, the bodies of Hol Horse and Gladius were hidden, as were my zombies. I intentionally stumbled over in order to play the part I'd done so well to push forward up to now.
All the while masking my true intentions as the one I despised most reared his face around the door...
Timeskip...
Gladius POV
"Ugh..." It took a moment for me to comprehend that I'd regained consciousness. What had happened? How did I end up like this, I looked up to see that I was now underneath a sofa, packed like a sardine next to... HOL HORSE?!
As soon as I saw the cowboy, my eyes widened as memories of what had happened flooded back to me! Enya, the zombies, her Stand Justice! To think such a Stand existed. And to think I'd been scared of Star Platinum, Justice outright terrified me!
Looking down, I noticed that I now had a gaping hole in my left shoulder as well as my right thigh. Hol Horse had an identical hole in his arm. That was how Justice had defeated us, it allowed Enya to control us like puppets on a string.
Hol Horse noticed I'd awoken and began pointing out from under the sofa. For a moment I was confused, I was still coming to bearings after taking a mallet swing to the head. I narrowed my eyes, about to ask, what he meant however he just continued pointing and it was now I understood what he was indicating towards.
A voice which definitely wasn't Enya. Though I soon recognized it as that of Polnareff! I remembered that Enya primarily blamed Polnareff for J.Geil's death, so I knew it wouldn't be long until Enya made her move.
Hol Horse began to crawl forward, emerging from under the sofa, I followed his lead close behind. For a moment, I was confused when I saw what seemed to be Polnareff giving Enya a massage. However a grunt from Hol Horse, caught the attention of both!
For a moment Polnareff just asked "What're those guy's doing there?" However it didn't take him long to recognize us as he exclaimed "Those faces! No way! Hol Horse and Gladius!" As he was distracted with us, Enya brandished the same pair of scissors as earlier.
I raised my arm and warned in a raspy voice "P-Polnareff! Turn around!" Hol Horse added "Behind you!" He turned around just in time to catch both Enya's arms in shock as she exclaimed. "I'm the mother of J.Geil whom you mercilessly murdered!"
She relentlessly stabbed at him with the scissors, forcing Polnareff to summon his Stand to defend himself. He tried calling out to the rest of his group, however Enya grinned, stating "It's too late! Your trusty friends will never hear your cries my dear. Because, I've summoned my own allies."
And it was now that the zombies made their appearance, blocking the only exit in a tight huddle, all of which now glared at Polnareff. Even the ones I thought I'd killed were back, sporting new holes where the blades and knives had struck them.
Polnareff asked the horde "Who the hell are you guys?!" That was when he noticed one zombie who he claimed was dead when they arrived, the zombie in question shed his attire to reveal several holes. The shock he showed here was nothing compared to him noticing the zombified ZZ.
"W-wait, it's you! The Wheel of Fortune user! What're you doing here?!" Just like before, ZZ simply let out a snarl as fog poured from the holes now littering his body. I rasped out "H-he arrived with me." Causing Polnareff to look towards us.
Enya explained "One can only have one Stand. But Justice for fog Stand can transform the dead into my personal army! It can control hundreds of corpses, even THOUSANDS!" When I learned about Stands, I hadn't thought one this scary could exist!
Hol Horse rasped "This whole god-forsaken town's got it in for you. And if you get a wound, she'll turn you into a puppet." I raised my shoulder causing Polnareff to notice the hole as I explained "That's how she defeated me. Don't underestimate her zombies."
Enya threatened "They're right you know. I need only give you a little scratch. It doesn't take much. Then my Stand Justice will take care of the rest!" Polnareff took off running, avoiding the zombie's attacks.
Hol Horse tried calling out "Polnareff! Don't leave us here! Please!" Polnareff snapped back "Oh shut up! Did you forget what you did to Avdol, Hol Horse?! And you, Gladius, you've been hounding us none-stop since Singapore! Why should I save either of you?! You're both on your own!"
I snarled and spat "Get back here, you bastard!" Of course, I knew it wouldn't do much good. Polnareff disappeared towards one of the doors as Enya and her zombies pursued close behind, declaring "My vengeance comes now!"
I was surprised at how fast the old coot was! Polnareff barely managed to lock himself in the back room, likely barricading it from the other side. Enya snapped "He ran into the back room! Break the door down at once!" As she did this, she swung her cane and struck Hol Horse across the face with it!
It didn't take long for the zombies to break through the door though and soon enough, they, along with Enya, disappeared through it, leaving me and Hol Horse both collapsed on the floor. I felt anger rush over me as I snapped "Damn it! How could this have happened!"
Hol Horse turned to me and snapped "Speak for yourself! How could you allow yourself to get hit by one of them zombies!" I raised an eyebrow in annoyance, retorting "Oh? And you did any better?!"
By this point, we'd devolved into a full-on argument. Hol Horse snapped "I'm not the one who figured out J.Geil's Hanged Man after one encounter am I?!" I used the arm that didn't have a gaping hole in to hit him over the head again.
"That's because Hanged Man made its ability obvious to me! It hopped from the mirror to a window before my very eyes. How do you suppose I study literal fog?! How do we hit that?! Fog can't be damaged by conventional weapons!"
Hol Horse asked "What do you suppose we do then?! Even if we escape here, this town is still full of those zombies!" I answered "What we need to do is hope one of Polnareff's friends comes down here looking for him. And then-."
I was cut off by a loud banging coming from the corridor, followed by howling laughter that could only have come from the zombies. Me and Hol Horse slowly made our way over to the door, literally having to crawl due to our injuries.
I bet we looked a sorry sight, Hol Horse had blood trickling from his mouth. Whereas I had blood going down the side of my head from the mallet injury that had knocked me out. Honestly, I was lucky to be alive.
By the time we reached the door, we peered around to see Polnareff now suspended in the air by his tongue. Fog flowing from a round as Justice hovered above him! It seems one of the zombies had got him.
I could hear Enya speaking coldly "My son, J.Geil, died in unimaginable agony due to your cowardice. This isn't even close to the torture you put him through!" She paused for a moment before saying "Now then, how about we have you clean the bathroom?"
At this, I gagged a bit, muttering "Nasty..." I looked away, however it was at this point footsteps could be heard from the lobby. This caught Enya's attention as well. She looked to Polnareff and I could hear her spit. "I'll continue our fun later Polnareff."
She briskly walked back down the corridor, shoving her way past us, adding to her earlier threat "And you two will be dealt with shortly after." She went through the door and slammed it behind us.
The zombies paid us no mind, they left Polnareff and proceeded to also walk towards the door. Instead of going through it though, they waited on the other end. I was left wondering in that moment. Polnareff had already fallen victim to Enya's trap.
Who would be the next victim...
Author's Note: And that's it for this chapter. The next one will be the end of the Justice arc. I hope you enjoyed and as always, thank you for reading.
