Chapter 14: Justice Prevails

Gladius POV

Even as I shut the door to the outside, the interior of the inn had a thin layer of fog emanating through the air. I couldn't fight the chill that went up my spine, unease building slowly the longer I spent in this creepy place.

Looking around, the inn itself was actually quite well off, better than the place where I'd encountered Hanged Man back in India. It was completely silent though, not a person in sight, aside from two directly in front of me.

I recognized both figures right away and I'll admit, they were among the last people I thought I'd meet in a place like this. Nevertheless, I stepped forward, speaking to one of them in a stern, cold manner. "Hol Horse."

The gunslinger's head snapped in my direction and straight away I saw a look of fear flash through his eyes as sweat appeared on his face. I guess he hadn't forgot that he stood me up in Calcutta.

Had we worked together, we could have possibly eliminated Kakyoin and Polnareff. However his act of cowardice had cost us that chance. While I wasn't livid at this, I was angered by the inconvenience he'd caused.

He stammered out "G-Gladius, fancy seeing you here... Uh... Sorry about last time. I-." I cut him off. "Enough! I'm not going to kill you, so save your grovelling." I continued to approach the pair, the other person addressed me.

"Gladius, you're here as well. Good." That would be the voice of ENYA! The very same hag who hired me in the first place on DIO's behalf! She was the last person I expected to see. I gave a bow, greeting the elder.

"Enya, I'll admit, I wasn't expecting to see you here." For a moment, Enya gave no reaction, she just looked between the two of us in complete silence. That's when tears began streaking down her cheeks, she let out a shrill scream before running into an adjacent room.

Me and Hol Horse shared a glance, he twirled his finger next to his temple, indicating he thought she was crazy. I just let out a faint "Hmm..." Nodding in agreement. Regardless of our thoughts on Enya, we followed after her.

Hol Horse called out "What's the matter Enya?! Why are you crying?" We found her hunched over a chair in the next room, crying her eyes out. She whimpered through her tears "I'm just happy Hol Horse, Gladius! It means so much that you're here! Thank you for coming to see this lonely old woman! It's so wonderful to see you both!"

This caught me off guard, this didn't seem like the Enya I met in Egypt weeks ago. She looked directly at Hol Horse as she asked "Hol Horse, you and my son were friends, were you not?" I could tell Hol Horse was as confused as me as he stammered out a reply.

"Friends? Oh, well I... Yes, we were thick as thieves." Enya asked "So, you were close?" To which Hol Horse answered "Close? Yeah, he was a dear friend and an excellent partner." I chose now to ask "What's going on here madam Enya? With all due respect, I didn't expect to see you here. And you seem a bit, off."

I hadn't forgotten the revelation that J.Geil was her son. So it makes sense that she'd be upset by his passing. However, I expected psychotic RAGE, not tears! Enya didn't answer my question though, instead she asked me herself.

"And what of you Gladius? You met my son J.Geil did you not? What did you think of him?" What could I say? That I despised J.Geil? That I would have killed him myself had Polnareff not done it? Instead, I told what little compliment I could give the fiend.

"I only met him briefly. But I know he was a skilled warrior." That was all, the only praise I'd give the likes of him. Though it seemed enough for Enya, looking away from us and hiding her face, she asked "Will you two avenge my son? Is that why you're here?"

Next to me, Hol Horse blurted out "Yes! That's exactly it! I'm gonna make those bastards pay for killing my best friend!" Meanwhile, I responded "If the Joestars are here, then your son's death won't be for nothing." I wouldn't avenge J.Geil, he got what he deserved.

Enya was silent for a moment before I noticed a glint. In a swift movement, she spun to face us with a look of pure deranged fury, screaming "THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WANT TO HEAR!" In her hand was a pair of scissors that she swung downward and stabbed into Hol Horse's arm!

I watched with wide eyes as the cowboy howled in pain. Enya began yelling "BECAUSE NOW I CAN KILL YOU TWO AS WELL!" Hol Horse collapsed onto the ground, I took a single step closer, asking "Are you alright?!" Only to be cut off by Enya.

"How dare you both! Hol Horse, you abandoned my son and left him for dead! Gladius, when my son sought your aid, you turned your back on him! I swore I'd kill you both the moment I saw either of you again! 'Best friend'? 'Skilled warrior'? How dare you!"

Hol Horse pleaded "W-wait! You got it all wrong, by the time I got there, J.Geil was already a goner!" With a shrill shriek, she lunged at Hol Horse, however he dived out of the way. Enya glared at us both spitting "You're both as unforgivable as that bastard Polnareff! I'll have you both die at the hands of my Stand, JUSTICE!"

As soon as these words were spoken, she began moving her hands in bizarre slow motions, uttering. "I'm sure you've heard rumours, but I doubt you've ever seen it! I'll show you both right now, Hol Horse, Gladius!"

As these words were spoken, fog began to build up around us and it was here I began to question. The fog surrounding this town, was it linked to her Stand? My head snapped to Hol Horse as I heard him exclaiming "What the hell is happening to the blood in my arm?! It's like it's evaporating!"

I was surprised as the wound took on a large circular hole in Hol Horse's arm! Enya went on to explain "That's right! My Stand Justice is made of fog! Any wound my Stand happens to graze becomes a gaping hole, and then..."

As she trailed off, my eyes widened even further as I noticed something appear in the fog above Hol Horse. Before my own eyes, a huge skull wearing a crown emerged, accompanied by a pair of matching right hands. So, this was Justice's physical form!

Enya cackled maniacally as she explained "My Stand's fog has entered your arm like a string! And now you're my puppet! You will die by your own hand, HOL HORSE!" As she yelled this, Hol Horse's arms shoved itself down his throat.

In a moment of quick thinking I spat "Not likely!" Summoning Ace of Swords, I threw a knife directly at Justice's head! However, much to my horror, the blade simply passed right through it! Enya only laughed harder at this.

"FOOLISH BOY! Summon all the weapons you want, but I ask you this. Could you cut the fog with a a weapon? Nope! And it's the same here! You can't TOUCH ME!" My diversion though allowed Hol Horse to wrestle his arm free.

"You shouldn't get so damn cocky! EMPEROR!" As soon as his Stand manifested in his hand, he yelled "DIE! You crazy old hag!" He took aim at Enya however with a twitch of Justice's finger, the gun turned so it was facing BACK AT HIM!

Hol Horse didn't have time to react as the gun fired, causing him to be blasted backwards, landing on the ground motionless. I was left stunned, slowly taking a step back before Enya turned to me, giving me a malicious grin.

"Don't think I've forgotten about you Gladius. I know you are more cunning than Hol Horse and it may be difficult to inflict a wound on you. So I brought along some friends to aid me in my goal."

As soon as she said these words, an unsettling feeling came from behind me. Turning around, I was surprised to be met with several figures all stood amidst a build-up of fog. Straight away, I noticed the woman I'd spoken to earlier, the one with the boils on her face, the one who lead me here in the first place!

However that wasn't the worst of it. What really shocked me was right in front of me. ZZ! The Wheel of Fortune's user was in front of the group. However it was clear something was wrong with him.

Holes littered his entire body except his face. His expression remained blank and emotionless as he stared right at me. I analysed the holes before asking "What happened?! Are you alright?!" ZZ didn't give a response, instead he just let out a growl, fog pouring from his mouth as he did so.

Behind me, Enya laughed "It seems your friend has become another thrall of my Stand's ability!" I snapped in her direction, giving her a glare as she continued. "That's right, my Stand Justice is even capable of controlling CORPSES! As long as said corpse has a wound to infiltrate! Now then, you shall join both him and Hol Horse in death!"

As soon as she said this, ZZ along with the other zombified villagers lunged forward, fog streaming from their bodies. I easily managed to dodge by jumping up and summoning Ace of Swords. I had my Stand summon a pair of scimitars and in a swift motion, I lashed out at the zombies.

In an instant, I was able to slice the head off one of them, causing it to collapse to the ground. The other blade slashed across another of the zombie's chest however this time I wasn't lucky. What was a small slash took on the form of another gaping hole, making me mutter to myself "Crap."

The zombie in question lashed out, this time though it was with its tongue, the tongue shot out like a sharp spike, trying to impale in my hand. However one quick counter-attack was aimed at its waistline, severing its legs from its body and causing that to topple to the floor as well.

I looked to remaining zombies, ZZ included. For a moment, I faltered, not out of concern. I hardly knew ZZ. However the nature of Justice as an ability confused me. It didn't stop me from holding back for long though.

Dismissing the scimitars, I summoned and threw a handful of knives. Each one embedded themselves in the heads of ZZ and the remaining zombies including the one who's legs I'd severed. Each one was sent backwards, falling onto their backs, steam pouring from their bodies.

This didn't waver Enya's arrogance though. "Try as you might Gladius, it makes little difference! Cut down my zombies all you want, they'll just get back up. Not to mention I have the whole TOWN at my disposal!"

I retorted "If that's the case, then I'll take YOU OUT!" Spinning to Enya, I threw a knife directly at her head. However before it could land, one of her zombies dived in front of her, taking the blade to its chest and falling face-first on the ground.

I once again conjured a glaive and had my Stand dive upwards. Swinging downwards at Justice itself. I hadn't forgotten before, however I snapped "This isn't over you HAG!"

My Stand's glaive swung down however much like before, the blade passed right through the skull without leaving so much as a scratch of damage! My eyes widened as by now, fear was beginning to build up.

That's when I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder!

Turning my head, I saw ZZ with his hands clasped tightly on my shoulders, his tongue now shot out in a sharp spike, impaling itself through my shoulder! I snapped "Get off me!" Spinning around and throwing another knife through his head. He was flung back into the wall. However it was too late.

Enya was in hysterics now. "HAHAHAHAHA! I GOT YOU! Now, much like Hol Horse, you shall now see the true terror of my Stand!" As she said this, I noticed much like with Hol Horse, the blood in my shoulder began evaporating into the fog around us.

I yelled "This isn't over! I'll cut you to ribbons!" I had Ace of Swords summon a knife which I once again prepared to throw at Enya. However, before I could react, she let out a laugh and against my will, my arm was thrust forward from the shoulder.

Without any control, I found myself lunging in front of the knife! It embedded in my leg causing me to hiss in pain. The process repeated again, blood evaporating only to be replaced by a hole! Enya grinned maliciously

"I could continue to play with you like a puppet. But I'm growing bored now. You can die." My rage only increased, I had Ace of Swords summon a mallet as I yelled "I'll cave your skull in you bitch! You'll be with your son in hell!"

I wasn't thinking, I shouldn't have summoned that weapon. Because without any control, my shoulder was pulled up, causing my head to be directly in the mallet's path! I just about managed to get rid of it. Not quickly enough though.

Before it disappeared, it collided with the side of my head hard enough to send me crashing to the ground! Had I not dismissed it, I likely would have died. However even now, I was fighting to keep conscious. The last thing I saw was Enya leering down at me before things went dark. Her last words were spoken with a smirk.

"Justice prevails..."

Author's Note: And that's it for this chapter. I apologise for my absence, I've been quite busy these last few days. I'll admit though, the Justice arc is one of my favourites in Part 3. I do hope you enjoyed and as always, thank you for reading.
