fic | neuschwanstein castle

"C'mon you guys! We're almost up," said an enthusiastic Jungkook. They were halfway up the steep hill of which they had to climb before they get to see the famous Disney-inspired castle. Some from the gang were doing okay with all the hiking, but there were 5 people in particular who... clearly needed more exercise.

"Jungkook, can we— can we slow down for a bit? The tour guide's not that far from us." Said Namjoon, who is currently drenched in sweat. The youngest from BTS did not even bother to slow down, even while he piggybacked his girlfriend Lisa. Taehyung and Jennie were casually walking up while taking careful shots of their surroundings.

Meanwhile Jin and Jimin badly wanted to walk steadily uphill, but knowing Jisoo and Rosé, they kindly slowed their pace for their already tired girlfriends. Namjoon, Yoongi and Hoseok were struggling to keep up as they were taking their time walking up.

"I want to sleep." Yoongi muttered. "I can push you off this hill and I wouldn't care, if you really wanted to sleep that bad." Hoseok retorted. The sleepy-eyed member shrugged and yawned, slouching his back. The leader tried his best to catch his breath.

Jungkook suddenly walked back down to Jin and Jimin. The two men looked at the maknaes in surprise. "Tired yet?" Jimin asked. Lisa chimed in and suggested, "You know— if you really want to catch up with me and Kookie, you might as well piggyback your girls."

Jin and Jimin looked at each other before simultaneously saying, "Good idea." Finally out of their boredom, Jin carried Jisoo from behind and Jimin let Rosé hop on his back. The two women high-fived each other before they told their boys to run up with Jungkook and Lisa.

"Oh my God, I don't understand how they can withstand the weight and the steepness." Jennie commented. Taehyung looked at her with a grin before bending down and offering her the same thing. "C'mon. I'll carry you up." His girlfriend shook her head.

"Don't be crazy. We might fall off if we're not careful." She said. "Wow Jennie, you should think before underestimating me." He smirked and hoisted her up before she could even protest. The other three couples were a little further up, so Taehyung made the bold decision to run, which made Jennie scream in excitement.

The three rappers from BTS stared at the four couples exasperatedly. "And now they're carrying each other up." Hoseok mumbled. Namjoon silently begged to go back down and take the bus or carriage up instead, but they were already far up as a group. He would only drag them down if he decided to go all the way back.

The four couples knew there were people staring, but none of them cared. They continued walking leisurely for a few more minutes until they came to a stop. So far this was their second stop. The tour guide waited until everyone rounded up in the spot. As everyone gathered, the tour guide explained some things about the distance and the shortcut for their way back. He also continued the lecture about King Ludwig II's sad life.

Namjoon, Yoongi and Hoseok took the opportunity to sit down on a nearby block of stone, but they and the girls listened intently to the lecture. Jin and Taehyung paid more attention to their surroundings than the lecture, but they were unconsciously listening too. Jimin and Jungkook were both on their phones even with the girls on their backs.

As they resumed the hike, the three rappers felt a little bit of their energy restored. Rosé was mesmerized by the tower that greeted them on the way up. "You guys, I'm so excited to see the view!" She squealed. Jimin snidely remarked, "Everybody knows you're the best view."

Jin suddenly fumed. "Shut up Jimin, I didn't raise you to be cheesy!" The latter flailed his arms in defeat. The Australian simply pulled Jimin for a hug and kissed his cheek. "Aww being cheesy's alright."

"At least he's not corny like you," Jennie added and Jin shot her an offended look. "Thank you." Said the shorty. For one last time, the tour guide shared the third chapter of the king's life. They learned that his death was shrouded with mystery and tragedy at the same time. Even until today, his cause of death remained blank.

"This would probably be me when I die." Yoongi said. Namjoon's next comment took him by surprise. "Confess to Nayeon and you won't end up like King Ludwig II."

Upon arriving, the tour guide explained to them how the queue worked. Apparently their tour inside the castle was led by an official Bavarian staff. They were the people in charge. The allotted time they had overall around the castle was until 3:30. Rosé made it her personal mission to go to the bridge and avoid people as much as possible. Everyone was supposed to meet the tour guide on or before 4:20 back down at their first stop.

"Damn it's hot," Jungkook said. Lisa took out a flyer and used it to fan him. He mouthed a 'thanks' to her before the machine displayed the group's number; 427. They each scanned their ticket and were permitted to go in. As instructed, those who carried backpacks switched it in front. Taehyung and Jennie kept their phones in their bags disappointedly, but they soon understood why when they stepped in the palace.

They had to go through a few steps before entering the corridor. They were greeted by the castle tour guide and each of them were handed an audio receiver. Hoseok looked at it in confusion and asked Namjoon what it was for. "The speaker will talk through this device and everyone has to press it up their ear in order to hear better."

"Why not just speak louder?"

"You think everyone would hear when there's other groups in the same room?" Hoseok now understood why. The gang eventually moved on and followed the tour guide into the hallway. This hallway was known to be the servant's quarters. Visitors were given a peek through an opening in each room.

"Is this it?" Yoongi whispered to Jin. Jennie smacked him from behind. "Dumbass, be patient. This castle isn't just some kind of a shack. There's more to see if you keep your sleepy eyes open." The grandpa of the group didn't say anything anymore because the next area in the castle immediately took his breath away.

"Oh my God these walls all have paintings on them," Taehyung was awed by the design of this particular section. His eyes wandered at the several opera figures displayed on each painting.

When the group moved on to the next room, it shocked everyone even more. The guide explained that the floor was constructed with millions and millions of mosaic. The chandelier was made of pure brass and the gem-looking decorations were made of colored glass. The entire area in itself looked sophisticated.

"How much gold does the king have?" Jungkook asked. The rest of the gang stared at him. "Kookie, the guide just said that the chandelier was made of brass. Did you not pay attention?" Lisa told him and put her hands on her waist. The maknae of Bangtan shrugged and looked away. "Well I was staring at the chandelier for God-knows-how-long." He replied.

The members sighed and moved on along with the others after staring at the religious and heroic figures from Ludwig II's favorite operas. Jimin almost bawled his eyes out just by seeing the insane amount of woodwork in the Bavarian-Prussian king's room.

"This guy even has an adoration room of his own too." Rosé mumbled. Jisoo stared at the swan head that formed the tip of the faucet. "Gosh, what is with this guy's obsession with swans? I mean, it's all over the palace."

Apparently the guide heard Jisoo and responded, "Yes ma'am. It's his favorite animal." The eldest from BlackPink nodded shyly and went behind Jin in embarrassment. "Oh c'mon stop that, you were just curious." He said to her and patted her back. The group moved forward and saw themselves in another room adjoined to the king's bedroom.

"The next area we will pass by is where you can see the old telephone in the king's office." Said the tour guide. Namjoon was fascinated by the technology back in the 1800s. "As you can see, the telephone was still new during the king's time. Do any of you know who created the telephone?"

Immediately, the leader of Bangtan raised his hand and said, "Alexander Graham Bell." The tour guide nodded. "Yes indeed!" Everyone at the group stared at him and he forced a smile on his face. Namjoon thought it would be common knowledge, but apparently he was wrong.

The next spot they were taken to was the makeshift cave made out of plaster. There was a swan garden just outside of it and Jisoo sighed upon seeing another ornament of a swan. It was huge and encased in fiberglass. The tour guide told them the king used it to hold flowers back then.

Taehyung was amazed yet again by the marvelous artwork on the walls. The castle never fails to amaze him each step. It was sad that none of them were allowed to take photos. After hearing King Ludwig II's story, he felt like he saw himself in him. However he wouldn't lead like he did.

"This castle was clearly made for you, man." Jimin nudged Taehyung on the arm. "Yeah, except I'm gonna marry Jennie and then spend money helping people. Not building castles," Jennie smiled at Taehyung and he pulled her to his side. "and I'm replacing the swans with either tigers or dogs."

"Hey keep the swans, I like them." Jennie commented.

The members couldn't agree more. They have all reached the end of their tour. Hoseok rushed to the toilet to go pee while the others went to the gift shop to buy souvenirs. Before that though, they went to the balcony and took a picture of the view individually.

"Guys we need to wait for Hoseok! Stop crowding the view, there are people trying to take photos too!" Namjoon tried his best not to yell, but he told them loud and clear. The main dancer of Bangtan managed to arrive just in time when everyone decided to take a group photo.

Jin and Jimin were getting crossed by the people that were trying to push their way in. Some girls noticed that BTS and BlackPink were on a trip together, so thankfully they helped clear a path for them to take a group photo. That is, in exchange for a photo with them too.

"Okay guys stop moving. We only have a minute to get this picture over with." Namjoon said. Everyone stood still and smiled for the picture. They all managed to cooperate even with a couple of people staring. Yoongi yawned at the second shot, but he posed decently in the next few.

"Thank you very much for your patience." Lisa bowed and so did the rest. As promised, they took a picture with the fans and immediately left the vicinity. Jin and Jisoo had a look at the old kitchen, which had them in awe at all the gold pots and dishes.

"What I'd give to have a kitchen like this..." Jin gushed. Jisoo couldn't agree more.

The gang finally stepped out of the palace. Rosé blurted out, "Hey! Let's head to the bridge and check the castle in full view!" Jimin admired his girlfriend's energy even under the heat. It was tiring him, but at least they were at the top and it was windy.

"Great. How long's the walk?" Yoongi asked. "If you heard our tour guide, he said that it's another walk uphill for 15 minutes. 10, if you're fast enough." The three rappers, the two female vocalists and Jennie gawked.

"Before we head up, did anyone drink water? 'Cause y'all gonna need it." Jungkook said and looked up to where the people were going. "I would gladly have a sip of that Alpine water. Best water I've ever tasted in ages." Taehyung remarked.

"Yeah, apart from the beer in Munich." Jimin chimed in. "Are you just gonna ignore the fact that we're walking for another 15 minutes— under this heat?" Jennie spat. "Jen, relax. We have one more hour until we have to meet our tour guide back down." Lisa said.

"Fine. I guess the hike is worth it."

"Are you kidding me? Let's have the maknaes carry us, what'd you two think?" Hoseok proposed the idea to Namjoon and Yoongi, who immediately agreed. The leader hopped on Jin, Yoongi on Jimin, and Hoseok on Jungkook.

"Aish, I don't wanna carry lazy-hyung right here! Tae, can you help me out?" The blank-faced member in Bangtan hesitated and deadpanned Jimin. "How am I suppose to help you when you're already piggybacking him?" The dwarf from the group facepalmed himself.

"You're only going to suffer for 15 minutes, Jimin-oppa." Lisa chuckled. Jin and Jungkook had problem carrying their two members. Yoongi was confused as to why Jimin needed help in the first place, but enjoyed the fact he got two people carrying his lazy-ass.

"This is our last hike. Just walk leisurely and don't trip trying to run up." Jisoo told everyone and started walking ahead along with the other girls. They conversed quietly about what they saw in the castle, while the boys from behind suffered in silence, weight and heat.

When they reached the bridge, Jungkook, Jin, Taehyung and Jimin put the three rappers down. They walked to the bridge and were greeted by the majestic view of Neuschwanstein Castle.

"It's so beautiful!" Chaeyoung was starry-eyed. Lisa couldn't close her mouth from the shock and awe that she's feeling. Everyone was living quite the Disney dream. Jennie took many pictures of the view and herself in it. By surprise, Taehyung bombarded some of her photos and even sneakily kissed her cheek in one of them. The next action surprised him when Jennie kissed him in front of the view.

Jungkook saw what his hyung has done and immediately leaned in towards Lisa, but she stopped him just in time to ask, "Can you lift me up Kookie? Let's have a pic together." She teasingly winked at him. Of course, he couldn't resist her and took the shot. Jimin and Chaeyoung enjoyed the view and the breeze. Both were sure that their galleries were full of pictures. Jin and Jisoo were leaning on the bridge and have taken a few pictures.

The three rappers stared in disbelief at the view before them before sneaking a few pictures here and there. "Damn... Momo would've loved to see this." Hoseok mumbled. Namjoon patted his shoulder assuringly.

At this point, everyone was content with what they saw and headed back down minutes later.

"The next time we're coming here, I'm taking the bus." Namjoon suddenly spoke to which Yoongi and Hoseok openly agreed. "Now who had fun today? 'Cause I'm pretty sure we all need ice cream!" Jennie cheered and everyone followed her to the eatery nearby. Jimin used what time they had to drink a liter of Paulaner beer. The girls went through their photos and shared them in Instagram shortly before they left.

"See you again, castle." Chaeyoung mumbled.

"The name's Neuschwanstein." Namjoon added. Jennie bit back, "No one cares. It's kinda hard to pronounce."

Taehyung surprised everyone when he said the name in the exact same way it should be pronounced. "Wasn't so hard." He said proudly. "A Daegu boy like you belongs to Europe." Hoseok commented.

"Get out of Asia Taehyung," Yoongi chimed in. "Yah! I remember our concert in France. It felt like you were a different person speaking French!" Jimin said. Taehyung was quite flustered.

"Guys stop fueling his ego, or he won't shut up about it." Taehyung lightly glared at Jennie but decided to let it go and hugged her from the side. The gang pretty much headed to the hotel on their beds before 9:00 as they were tired. None of them even bothered to eat dinner since their hunger could not beat the sleepiness that befall on any of them.

Heyyy so I made this chapter based on an actual trip I went in Füssen, München (Munich). Füssen means feet, and as you can see, where the castle stood was on the foot of the German alps. Anyway you don't need that info. The castle was really good both inside and outside. It's a shame that they don't allow photos, but it's understandable because they don't want the place to lose value. I recommend going there if you want a real-life experience of a castle. This is what everyone calls the dream castle because it literally is lmao. I'm sorry if the chapter seemed boring but I tried to be as descriptive as I could about what I saw inside. You'll see what I mean when you get in there yourself. :)
