fic | misbehavior ☀️

Jungkook sighed in frustration before saying a collected "Thank you" and slamming the telephone down. He rubbed his temples and told his PA that he'll be leaving early. He lifted the briefcase stored underneath his desk and sped out of the building. Jungkook hailed a cab and told the driver to take him to Busan Elementary School.

On the way there, his cellphone rang. The 32 year-old answered the call from his wife and smiled when he heard her voice. "Hey," he said it as if the frustration left his system. "how are you?"

"I'm good sweetie. I just called because I received a call from the school and—"

"Yeah yeah, I'm heading there right now." In just a second, the foul mood returned to him once again. "Kookie, don't be too harsh on him. I wasn't lying when I said he's a complete replica of you during our younger years."

He sighed and calmly told her. "Do you know how many times I've been called out of the office this week? It's been four, honey— FOUR."

"I know it's really frustrating for you, but try not to reprimand him too much. It might encourage him to act like that even more." Jungkook slightly nodded. "Okay, I'll try. But I will talk some sense into this kid."

"That's no problem for me. I just don't wanna hear, 'Appa spanked me on the ass because I misbehaved' from him when I get home, 'kay?" He fake laughed and told her, "Fine. I'm nearby now. See you later, Liz. Love you."

"I love you too." He hung up and paid the taxi driver before heading out of the cab. Jungkook's worried that he's already getting famous as the parent who walks in during school hours, just because his son misbehaved yet again. Honestly, it would've been much better if the kid got suspended so he wouldn't have to go back and forth.

When he stepped in the principal's office, he was greeted cordially by the woman. "Hello Mr. Jeon, thank you for coming. Please have a sit." Jungkook saw his son sitting across him with a black eye. The atmosphere in the room grew quite intense.

"Your son here, was seen in the hall punching his classmate. His classmate gave him a black eye which only escalated the fight between them. For the record, since your son has constantly misbehaved, we decided to give him a full-day suspension." The principal handed him a paper which implemented the ban. Jungkook nodded in response and accepted the paper.

"Kwan's classmate and his father will be here in a minute. Do you mind waiting?" Jungkook shook his head and politely said no. For the meantime, he faced his son, who clearly looked away in shame and anger.

"Kwan. Look at me." He said in the most stern way as possible. His son looked at his father straight in the eye, but his eyes were getting glossy. "Does it always have to be like this?" The 3rd grader bit his lip.

"Does it always have to be a hard time for appa? Do you know that I still have work to complete and to present, but I'm stuck here because of you and your episode in the hallway? Hm?" Kwan did not respond.

"Kwan." Jungkook's harsh tone surprised the kid. "H-He insulted me okay! He told me I was trash and that I don't belong here!"

"What he said was wrong, but that doesn't excuse your act of punching him."

"But I had to stop him from saying bad things to me!" Jungkook narrowed his eyes. "You didn't have to punch him. There are other ways to defend yourself." He said that just in time Kwan's classmate and his father arrived. Surprisingly enough, he saw Yoongi standing by the doorway with his son.

"Mr. Min, thank you for coming, please have a sit." The principal politely and warmly greeted the parent, shaking his hand. Yoongi was calm and collected, but he was also surprised that his son got into a fight with his close friend's child.

"Kwan, would you mind sitting beside your father so they could sit across?" The kid immediately took his seat and crossed his arms. He averted his eyes away from Yoongi's son, who did the same gesture. "Jungkook-ah, sorry for the trouble." The maknae from their friend group smiled bashfully and waved his hand dismissively.

"It's not your fault Yoongi-hyung. Kids these days, causing trouble." He laughed nervously and spared a glance at his son. The principal cleared her throat and said in an authoritative voice, "Now Hyunjoo, would you care to explain what happened?"

"Kwan punched me in the face. I didn't even say anything bad! He just wanted to bully me." Kwan literally jumped out of his seat, ready to lung at Hyunjoo but Jungkook kept his strong arm against his son, forcing him to sit back down. Yoongi felt bad that Jungkook had to deal with the kid's tendency to be violent; then again, it's a mini Jungkook who used to be a bully and a mini Lisa who likes to speak her mind.

"Stop lying," Kwan gritted his teeth and glared at his classmate. "Kids, kids. Stop fighting, please. I need you both to apologize to each other so that this will be over with." The principal pleaded. Hyunjoo stayed quiet, but Jungkook could feel his son ready to prance again. Will this kid ever learn?

"Ms. Kim, I apologize on behalf of what my son said. I'm sure he didn't mean to say them, right?" Yoongi looked at his child intimidatingly and threatened to pull his ear if he said otherwise. Hyunjoo nodded hastily.

"I'm sorry for saying bad stuff at you. And for giving you a black eye." Said Hyunjoo. Yoongi sighed in relief and slumped his back on the comfy couch.

"Kwan? Would you like to say something?" The principal turned to Jungkook's son, eyeing him. Jungkook was ready to pinch his bare arm if he decided to do otherwise, but he sighed in relief when Kwan stood up, bowed, and said, "I'm sorry for punching you, Hyunjoo-ah. I... I was just angry that you said those words. So please don't say those again."

"Alright, it's settled then! Mr. Jeon, your son is still under suspension but he can resume the day after. Thank you for meeting with us. Mr. Min, pleasure to meet you. Thank you for coming by." The four males left the office and headed out to the main campus.

"Wasn't so hard now, was it?" Yoongi mused. Kwan felt much better, but it still didn't change the fact that he was suspended for a day. "Appa, I don't think Kwan meant what he said earlier. I think he just said that to impress the principal."

And then Jungkook heard it. The sound of Kwan's hand smacking through Hyunjoo's face. Yoongi's eyes abruptly flew open as he held mini Jeon back. Jungkook apologized to Hyunjoo and even Yoongi for his son's behavior. They both promised to catch up sometime this week in exchange, but for now they just had to prevent their children from attacking each other.

Jungkook and Kwan returned home with a bitter note. The father, clearly irritated, threw his keys on the counter and dragged his son with him to the living room. On the way there, his wife greeted him and their son with a hug and a kiss.

"How was the meeting today?" She asked ever so sweetly, her left arm still laced around his neck and her right on her son's shoulder. Jungkook smiled softly at the presence of his wife, but it faltered upon her question.

"It was okay," was all he replied. Kwan knew it was okay until he decided to act up again after. "he's suspended though."

"What?!" Lisa exclaimed. This time it was her turn to be angry and upset. "Kwan! What— what is it this time?"

"I punched Hyunjoo in the face because he called me trash."

"Honey, you didn't have to punch him. All these misbehaviors are stressing your appa out! Think about him. I can't go to your principal because eomma is very busy, but your dad here took out a lot of his work hours just to meet with your principal; all because you've been hitting other students!" She scolded.

"But eomma! He had to get it! I'm not just gonna stand there and let him insult me." Kwan retorted. Lisa did not fall for his excuse. "Punching him won't solve a thing." She said.

"Look, your father was like that too. He used to call me 'ugly Barbie' but I stood up to him many times. WITHOUT, punching him." Jungkook almost choked while drinking his water. "Your father used to bully people, Kwan. It's up to you how you respond to them." Lisa winked at her husband and he blushed.

"But mom! They won't avoid me if I just say stuff."

"Then the best way is to ignore them. Don't pay them any attention when you can just spend your day being positive! You know? Stop causing us unnecessary trouble. Your appa and I have been working hard and we want you to work hard to be better in school, okay? Now go make it up to your dad."

Kwan pouted but he eventually complied. He walked to Jungkook, jumped on the couch, and hugged his dad from the neck. Lisa smiled at the scene before her and brought them into a warm embrace. Jungkook kissed both their heads and told Kwan, "Next week I don't want any calls from your principal saying that you did something like that again, okay? You don't want appa to spank you, right?" Lisa rolled her eyes, but she chuckled when their son replied,

"Fine appa. I'm really sorry. I'll try to do better." Lisa pinched her son's cheeks and pulled them so that he formed a smile. "Our baby looks so cute he has your dimples!" She cooed.

"Eomma!" Kwan whined. Jungkook ruffled his son's hair and told him, "And you've got your mom's smiley face. Now go get changed. We're making dinner together." Kwan nodded eagerly and rushed upstairs.

Jungkook and Lisa smiled and leaned on each other, remembering how they got to where they are now.
