Chapter 23: Heading to Westeros!
=========================
Daenerys is sitting in the council room back in Meereen as she sips on a glass of wine, it's been seemingly forever since Kenway left and she still hasn't opened the letter he left for her, the seal is still intact, so no one has read it, but she got the message when the ships he had built sailed to her, Daenerys heard footsteps coming into the room and already she knew who it is.
Daario: Your ships are nearly ready. I saw them paining the sails.
Daenerys watched him as he walked to the small table nearby with glasses and a jug of wine placed on top, he took a glass then poured out the wine as he continued to speak to her, Daenerys not looking forward to what she has to say.
Daario: I'm curious to see how the Dothraki do on the poison water.
He finished pouring the wine into the glass then put the jug back down where he picked it up from, Daenerys though saw the best chance to tell him and decided to just ripe the bandage off.
Daenerys: You're not coming with us.
Daario looked to her as she looked a head of herself, before turning back to him, he didn't want to believe it, he's already lost her to Kenway and now she's leaving him behind, he decided to try and come up with a different approach.
Daario: New strategy? You want the Second Sons to attack from the West Coast? If we take Casterly Rock, the Lannister's will have nowhere to run when you hit king's Landing.
Daario walked towards her trying to see if he was over thinking it and what he just said was the real plan, ever since Kenway left, he's been trying to slip back into her bed but nothing he said or could do would make her replace Kenway, apparently she just doesn't need him with her anymore.
Daenerys: You're not going to Westeros. You're staying here with the Second Sons. There's finally peace in Meereen. You will keep the peace while the people choose their own leaders.
Daario was high rate, he loved this women and at one point she felt the same about him till some Northern Wolf washed up on their shores and turned his world upside down, so his reaction was a little out of turn.
Daario: Fuck Meereen. Fuck the people. I'm here for you, not them.
Daario put his wine glass onto the table between them as she stayed seated with her wine still in her hand as he stood in front of her, upset he's losing the women he's grown to care about over the years.
Daenerys: You promised me. "My sword is yours. My life is yours." This is what I command. If I'm going to rule Westeros, I'll need to make alliances. The best way to make alliances is with marriage.
Daario seemed to calm down from the fact he's not joining her on her voyage for now as he sat down in a seat behind him and already knew the answer to his next question.
Daario: Who are you marrying this time?
He already knew the answer and so did Daenerys, they all knew who'd she be marrying when she gets King's Landing, it'll be the King of the North.
Daenerys: Kenway, together we will unite Westeros.
Daario sighed while standing to his feet and walking a little away, he didn't like Kenway and Kenway didn't like him, it was nothing to do with Daenerys for Kenway, Kenway just didn't trust Sell Swords, their loyalty lies with the highest bidder, for Daario, it was for the girl.
Daario: Really? The man who left you alone. Abandoned you, with a child no less.
Daenerys looked up to him after sipping from her wine, she did have a baby, a little boy, with Kenway's grey eyes, no one needs to know he's a bastard, by the time the world find out about the boy, they'd be wed anyway.
Daenerys: Don't you dare bring Aemon's name into this.
Aemon Targaryen, third of his name and heir to the Targaryen name, the young boy has a bright future a head of him, he's only a baby now, still not having have met his father, how she even ended with his child she isn't too sure, maybe it was fate, maybe the witch lied to her, either way, she has a baby son with the man she loves.
Daenerys: I can't bring a former lover to Westeros. Kenway might snap and kill you.
She chuckled to herself while taking another sip from her glass and looking up to him, she can't lie, watching two men bicker over her was quite enjoyable but in the end, Kenway's better then Daario in every way, he's a King, he has power, he has strength and he's bigger, not to mention his larger body build as well.
Daario: Fuck him, he's a man like us all and he left you behind without a single word.
She was getting a little fed up with him talking about Kenway like that, Kenway did say "Goodbye", just via letter, she remembers he told her that the thought of leaving her hurt him too much, so the fact he left with a letter didn't worry her so much, it bothered her sure but she understood, he did it because he loves her.
Daenerys: in just over the cycle he's been gone, he's already taken back the entire North of Westeros. What have you done exactly?
Daario scoffed listening to Kenway's accomplishments as he hadn't really done much over here, just cleaned up the odd thing here and there, Daenerys knew that and smirked to him trying to win a competition he cannot win.
Daario: The dwarf told you to do this?
The sell sword couldn't seem to come to grips with the fact that the Mother of Dragons is done with him, yes they had their fun but now she has a family, a family and a future a head of her, a lover is not what she needs.
Daenerys: I've already told you why I'm doing this. It's for your own safety and to keep the peace. Don't get angry.
She said to him standing and walking a head of them a little towards the wine table, stopping about half way turning to him after hearing him let out a bothered sigh of content.
Daario: I'm not angry. I'm full of self-pity. Who comes after you? Who can ever follow Daenerys Stormborn, the Mother of Dragons?
Daenerys wasn't one to fold to the kid words, one of the things she loves about Kenway, he doesn't sweet talk things, he takes what he wants and asks if he needs it later, he's a King, a nobleman, Daario isn't.
Daenerys: A great number of women, I imagine. Specific orders will be left for you regarding the welfare of Meereen and the Bay of Dragons.
She finished her wine and placed the glass down to the side, she'll be leaving this place soon for Dragonstone, the place she was born, Daario though had one more question before she left him behind.
Daario: The Bay of Dragons?
Daenerys thought it was appropriately named as her Dragons destroyed most of the Slavers ships in the bay that came to attack them seemingly all those months ago now, it was the evening before that she learnt of Kenway going home, she might have been a little upset and destroyed the ships, in hindsight, she could have used them.
Daenerys: We can't call it Slaver's Bay any more, can we?
Daario sighed once again, he finally seemed to know he's lost again to Kenway Stark, it's not something his pride wants to except but he is still technically in her employment and has new orders to follow.
Daario: You'll get that throne you want so badly, I'm sure of it. I hope it brings you happiness. I pity the lords of Westeros. They have no idea what's coming for them.
Daenerys smiled to him, glad to see he's came around to understand that she loves another man, it's not easy for her, it's an easy choice between both men but he is still a great warrior and a trusted friend, saying goodbye is never all that easy.
Daenerys: Farewell, Daario Naharis.
Daario just gave her a small bow in return before walking out of the room and leaving her for the last time, Daenerys however left the room and into the throne room stepping down the steps past her chair and catching the attention of Tyrion who's sitting by drinking a smaller jug of wine.
Tyrion: How did he take it?
Tyrion asked holding the glass between both his hands and leant forward, Daenerys continued to walk down to steps, pretty much aching to see Kenway again, he's only a couple month boat trip away now.
Daenerys: No tears.
Tyrion nodded a little watched his Queen step down the steps one at a time, while he looked to the stone floor in front of him, barely being hit by the sunlight shinning through the open hatch.
Tyrion: I know it was hard for you. You turned away a man who truly loves you because another man who truly loves you would have had him killed for having of touched you. That;s the kind of self-sacrifice that makes for a good ruler, if it's any consolation.
It wasn't difficult for her to choose Kenway over Daario but it was difficult to say goodbye to him, Daenerys though listened to the Imp while continuing down to steps eventually stopping just before him.
Daenerys: It's not.
Daenerys is honest with him, Tyrion has been nothing but helpful to her since he joined her side and she's come to see him as a loyal friend, someone she can be open and honest with.
Tyrion: No, I suppose not. I'm terrible at consoling.
Daenerys chuckled to the Imp as she stood in front of him, looking down to the much smaller man, she reached into her dress and pulled out a pin as she knelt down to him, Tyrion watched her as she reached to his dress shirt forcing him to look down and see a pendent just like the gold one, worn by the Hand of the King.
Daenerys: You are, luckily It's your counsole I need. Tyrion Lannister. I name you Hand of the Queen.
She smiled to him as she stood up, so did he clearly emotional by this gesture, he thought back to his time as Hand to the King and it was short lived, not that the King was any good, but Daenerys, she can make a great Queen, especially with a King by her side like Kenway, Tyrion forgot his traditions for a moment before dropping to his knee, silently thanking her for this honor as well as pledging his loyalties to her.
Daenerys: Come along. Aemon must meet his father.
Tyrion had already sent the raven to Winterfell sending Kenway the word she's coming to Westeros, he did send messages to them, keeping them involved in what he's accomplished and what he hasn't, right now though, Kenway's in his new chambers, candle light helping him read as the fire place is lit keeping the room warm, he's alone, not even Midnight by his side, in stead he put down the scroll, tears staining his eyes while his breath hitched.
Kenway struggled to breath after reading the scroll, his destiny, the prophecy, written out in front of him, his life with Daenerys, all of it in words, everything that has happened to him so far has come true, even him meeting Daenerys in Meereen, so it was hard to try and ignore the future written on the near 300 year old page.
Kenway: Fuck your words...
Kenway took the scroll trashing it in his hands and tossing the ball of paper into the open fire, he leant on the fireplace watching as the parchment burnt in the fire's heat, he wiped the couple of tears that fell away while standing up straight.
Kenway: ... I write my own destiny.
Kenway picked up his cloak wrapping it over his shoulders before leaving the room to find something to do, to take his mind off what he just read, he's been searching his entire adult life for those words, now he's read them, he wants nothing more then to erase them from his memory...
