Y/N watched as the match raged on in the alternate plane. Issei and Koneko had went to the gym in hopes of conquering it. They had encountered Riser's rook and a few of his pawns. The pawns, Mira, Meru, and Kira. And Riser's rook, Shui. Y/N glanced at the Riser's pieces.

Y/N: (thoughts) Shui looks like Chun Li from Street Fighter. My only problem is this guy's harem. He's into lolis too!? What the hell is up with this guy?

He glanced over to the other projected screen. This time it focused on Kiba. He was waiting in the woods that was by the ORC's building and had already set up traps. He then saw three members of Riser's peerage show up in the woods, pawns to be exact, hoping they could sneak behind. A trap activates and a red magic circle appears on a tree, launching several magic daggers in the direction of Riser's peerage. It was a simple trap so it was easy to dodge. Y/N glances back to the projection that was showing Issei's and Koneko's battle and he sees Riser's rook was engaged with a heated battle with Koneko. In the background, he sees that Issei was currently being chased around by the two little pawns, Meru and Kira, who had chainsaws. They seemed to be pretty happy chasing around the pervert, much to Issei's dismay. Y/N noticed that Issei got distracted when Koneko suffered a blow from Riser's rook.

Y/N: (thoughts) It seems that Issei isn't paying attention to Kiba's lesson. Always be aware of your surroundings.

Y/N looks back over to Issei's end and he was still being chased by the little pawns with chainsaws. He sees the perverted grin growing on his face and wondered why. Issei charges up his sacred gear and he overflows with power, a red aura surrounding him. He lunges up into the air as the two pawns had jumped into the air. He lunged towards them and he slapped his hands near their neck and butt. A medium-sized magic circle with the Gremory family symbol appeared. He then grabbed the staff that was coming towards him from the other pawn, Mira, and punched it, destroying it. He then palm strikes her shoulder and a Gremory family seal appears. The perverted pawn then started to cackle to himself as he yelled and snapped his fingers.

Issei: (on projection) Dress break!

And just like that, the fabrics of Riser's pawns were blown off and were now in the nude. The pawns shriek in fear and embarrassment as their clothes were blown off by a low devil boy. To make it worse, it was the perverted Red Dragon Emperor.

Said Emperor was now cackling and gazing at their bodies with his signature perverted grin. Y/N sweat drops to himself as he watches the battle.

Y/N: (thoughts) Did he really have to go that far? 

Tsubaki: How vile.

Sona: Perhaps this magic power naturally imprinted itself into his brain since he's been around girls so much...though I suppose it's also his personal desires. (looks to Y/N) Why is your childhood friend such a pervert?

Y/N: I don't know. He chased girls around for their butts in the first grade. I apologize for his pervert nature.

Sona: You know, you can take off that hood of yours. No one's really in here besides us.

Y/N sighs to himself and takes off his hood. While Sona did not like him, she could admit that Y/N was quite handsome. Tsubaki on the other hand was blushing like crazy. When she first met Y/N, she immediately fell in love with him, but now finding out about his past, she knows that he had feelings for his other childhood friend, Irina Shidou.

Y/N ran his hand through his black hair and gazed at the projection. Issei used to be much taller than him, but now they're both the same height, but Y/N was slightly taller by 2 cm. Then Y/N thought back to some of the bittersweet memories he had. One vivid memory was going to his house one day and the two were going to watch a popular anime. Y/N couldn't remember what it was called, but he smiled at the bittersweet memory as it reminded him of happiness. A happiness that would never return. The path he walked...he couldn't go back to the previous path. He knew that all too well. While most contracts were eliminating strays, monsters, dragons...Y/N has killed people. Murder. Then again, he killed those stray priests and Fallen Angels without mercy. His mercenary career was originally intended to seek out the ones responsible for the Holy Sword Project. His main target...Valper Galilei. Y/N clenches his fists at the thought of that name.

Y/N: (thoughts) Valper...when I find you...now amount of mercy from you will save you. You will die by my hand.

On the projection, Koneko and Issei nod to each other and start to flee the battle. What to come next was unexpected. A green magic circle had appeared over the gym and a bolt of lightning struck the gym, destroying it.

Y/N: (thoughts) So this is Baraquiel's daughter? The Priestess of Thunder? 

The battle had only begun. Y/N then returned his gaze to the projection that showed Kiba's.

Y/N: (thoughts) Kiba...show me the strength that you learned...show me the power that you learned from me.

His attention was then returned to Issei's screen as Y/N's eyes widen. Koneko was eliminated. Riser's Queen, Yubelluna had attacked and struck a powerful magic attack in her direction. Issei runs over to Koneko and cradle's her wounded body. Koneko's body then disappears as her body was taken to the infirmary to be healed as she suffered too much damage. Y/N stood there. If only he could be in the Rating Game himself so he could help out the Gremory peerage in hopes of securing their victory. Sadly, he was only human.

Later on, Issei met up with Kiba as Issei left Akeno to take care of Yubelluna. Y/N was hoping for them to win the very least. He didn't want them to lose to the likes of a scumbag like Riser. Issei and Kiba soon traveled to the school's track field. There they encountered the knight of Riser, Karlamine.

Kiba and Karlamine were now in a heated duel. Kiba used the Sword Skill, {Slant}, blocking the broadsword of Karlamine. She was shocked to say the least. She only knew of one swordsman who knew these types of techniques.

Karlamine: (on projection) What the!? Where did you learn the that!?

Kiba: (on projection) ...It's merely a reminder of an old friend.

Y/N watched as Kiba used some of the Sword Skills that he was prone to using, such as, {Slant}, {Vertical}, {Vertical Arc}, and {Rage Spike}. This was a few Y/N taught to Kiba during his time at the house he was training the Gremory peerage.

Y/N knew that Kiba was a long way from catching up to him, but in time he will catch up. Kiba's sword had broken a few times and created new ones over the course of the match.

Y/N: (whisper) Sword Birth...

Sword Birth...a unique sacred gear that allowed the user to produce any sword at will. Well...except the holy sword, Excalibur. Y/N had no sacred gear, but the reason he was selected to be in the Holy Sword Project was because he had the potential to wield Excalibur. Alas, the experiments performed on him and his peers weren't enough so he escaped the their grasps and made him what he is today.

Issei was up against the rest of Riser's peerage. A knight, a rook, and the rest of the pawns. The bishop was Riser's sister, Ravel. However, she wasn't apart of the match so she was more of a bystander. 

Long story short, Issei and Kiba did triumph, but it didn't come without a cost. Kiba was also defeated, along with Akeno. The only ones left were Rias, Issei, Asia, and the enemy, Riser and his Queen, Yubelluna. The situation wasn't looking very good for the Gremory heiress. She was losing. Was Y/N's efforts in assisting them all in vain? He trained them the hardest he could. He put all of his knowledge in and effort into hammering it into Kiba's head. 

He resumed his attention to Issei who promoted himself to a Queen and went to assist the Gremory heiress. Alas, Issei's efforts weren't enough as Riser was practically beating him to a pulp. Rias took the drastic measure of forfeiting the match, saving the life of her pawn. The match ended. In the end, Riser Phenex was the victor of the Rating Game.

Sona: An impressive match.

Tsubaki: (notices Y/N's solemn look) Is something the matter, kuro no kenshi?

Y/N: Was all my efforts in assisting them all in vain?

Sona: No...it wasn't.

Y/N: Yet they still...

Sona: Well...the match is over. Riser Phenex won.

Y/N: No...not yet.

Sona/Tsubaki: Huh?

Y/N: The match isn't over yet. It isn't over.

Y/N then leaves the room, leaving the two devils to their thoughts and questions. What did Y/N mean that the match isn't over yet?

Timeskip

It was the engagement party tonight and Y/N was asked by Sirzechs to be his personal bodyguard aside from Grayfia. He arrived at the manor to where the party was being held at and was stopped by the guards.

Guard 1: Halt. What is a human doing here in the Underworld. Only those who have been invited may enter.

Y/N: (hands invitation) I was asked by Sirzechs to be his personal bodyguard. The Black Swordsman.

The guards took a look at the invitation and eyed for a few seconds. This was the genuine signature of the Lucifer so he Y/N in and led him to a room. In there waited Sirzechs and Grayfia.

Sirzechs: It's a pleasure to see you again, Sir L/N.

Y/N: Please, Y/N is fine. I am not a knight. I am just a simple mercenary.

Sirzechs: Thank you for coming. As you know, the battle isn't over, correct?

Y/N: It was far from over. You have some plan, don't you?

Sirzechs: Let's just say...you're friend will be making quite an entrance.

Y/N: (smiles) Is that so?

A loud bang could be heard nearby, signaling them that Issei has arrived. Sirzechs motions Grayfia and Y/N to follow, who nods back and Y/N pulls up his hood. As they walk to the banquet hall, Issei's words echoed in Y/N's mind.

Y/N: (thoughts) Heh. He never gave up. It's so like him.

They arrived at the hall and everyone didn't even notice that they had entered in. While most were confused as to why a low level-devil boy had crashed the ball, Riser was the most angriest out of all.

High Class Devil: Rias-dono, what is this!?

Sirzechs: A little entertainment that I prepared.

Issei: Who's that...and...the Black Swordsman!? (thoughts) Man, he is just everywhere...

Rias: (shocked) Onii-sama?

Issei: Which means...

High Class Devil: Sirzechs Lucifer-sama?

Issei: This guy is the Demon Lord!?

Riser: Sirzechs-sama, you needn't concern yourself with--

Sirzechs: (holds hand up) Riser. I watched the Rating Game out of curiosity. Probably because you were up against my dear little sister, not only who had no past experience, but whose army was less than half the size and aptitude of yours.

Riser: Do you have some complaints about the game?

Sirzechs: No. If I gave a word, I could make the very institution of the Rating Game disappear. But these are special circumstances this time. I would like to make a formal interruption. My dear little sister's engagement party...I hate to see it ruined by such theatrics. (looks to Issei) You, boy over there. I would like to see you use your dragon power with my own eyes. Grayfia told me a little about it.

Riser: I see. So he is...

Sirzechs: Dragon vs Phoenix. The legendary mixing of blood in an epic battle - how do you feel about this? Dragon boy.

Issei: Y-Yes?

Sirzechs: Will you show myself and everyone here your power?

Issei: Yes.

Rias: Issei, don't do it.

Riser: (smirks) Riser would like to see your final burst of flame before he settles down as a married man.

Sirzechs: Now then, Dragon boy, what would you like if you win?

High Class Devil: Sirzechs-sama! There is no need to reward a low-class demon!

Sirzechs: Low-class, High-class, he is still a demon nonetheless. Once I initiate a challenge, he must accept it. What do you wish for? Wealth? A beautiful woman? Anything.

Issei: No. I want Rias Gremory-sama...I want her back!

Y/N: (thoughts) Then prove it to everyone here, Issei. Show them the power you behold.

After the conditions were set, Riser and Issei were transported to an alternate plane to fight in. Dragon vs Phoenix. Y/N watches as Issei promotes himself to a Queen and activates his Balance Breaker. A red dragon-like armor appears on Issei and a countdown from ten starts.

Issei zig-zags all over the place, his power increased since his battle in the Rating Game.

Y/N: (thoughts) Issei shouldn't be able to do that yet...not unless.

Y/N then came to a realization. He knew that Issei had trained hard throughout the camp, but he knew that Issei was no where near the area to activate his Balance Breaker. There was one option though...a sacrifice had to be made.

When he saw both Riser and Issei meet in the air and they both punched each other, that's when he saw it. Issei had a cross in his left hand. Y/N knew that just holding a cross does some damage to a devil. Since he was able to hold one, Y/N knew that Issei had given up his entire left arm to the dragon within.

Soon after, the countdown stops and the armor deactivates, which sends Issei tripping and crashing into the ground. Riser picks up the vulnerable Issei with a wicked grin on his face, thinking he won. Issei then did the unexpected. He pulled out a bottle of holy water and poured it on Riser's face, but he boosted it's power before to increase the damage to do against Riser. Riser grasps his face in pain as the fire is trying to be extinguished by the water and his flames are also trying to be reignited. Issei then splashes more holy water on the cross in his gauntlet and boosted it's power and pummels Riser, ending the match.

Y/N watched as the rest of the ORC caught Issei and threw him towards the direction of Rias who caught him. Later, they met at the courtyard and Akeno takes out a small paper which spawns a griffon. Issei was suggested by the rest of the ORC members to take their president back to the clubhouse. Y/N watches from afar with a sad smile on his face. Friends like this...he wishes he had them. Footsteps could be heard behind him and turns his head around to see Sirzechs and Grayfia walking towards him.

Sirzechs: How goes the mission?

Y/N: My leads...while I do wish to destroy Excalibur...my one goal is to eliminate Valper Galilei.

Grayfia: But is the path of revenge really the one you want to go down?

Y/N: It's already too late for me. (looks at hands) My hands have already been stained with the blood of sinners. Heh. It's funny. A sinner myself hunting the down the ones who sinned themselves. What a joke.

Sirzechs: I heard that Azazel has been in Kuoh lately.

Y/N: Yeah...I heard. I did a contract for him a few weeks ago.

Sirzechs: I suggest going to him. Knowing his ways of getting information, he may most likely know the location of this Galilei character you're talking about.

Y/N: (nods) Of course. Thank you for all the assist you have done for me so far, Sirzechs-sama, Grayfia-san.

Sirzechs: You are most indeed welcome. Before you head back to the human realm, I suggest you head home to the Sitri household. You are still considered family to them.

Y/N: (smiles) Yeah...it's been awhile since I saw them. Thank you for having me.

Sirzechs: The pleasure was all mine, Sir L/N.

Y/N then leaves the manor and he finally arrives at the Sitri household. He knocks on the door and takes a deep breath as he hears the door being unlocked. The door opens up and reveals Serafall Sitri, the Leviathan.

Serafall: (smiles excitedly) Y/N!

Y/N: (smiles) Hey there...

Mom...
