Y/N awoke once again. It was around 8 AM. He sighed to himself as he only got about three hours of sleep. He got ready for the day and went out. As he walked by, he saw Issei by the park with a girl in church clothing.

Y/N: (thoughts) What's Issei doing with a nun?

He saw a little boy nearby trip and fall. The nun got up and went over him. Y/N's eyes widen as he saw the nun's hand glow green and the little boy's injury had been healed. The little boy runs off and Y/N looks over there suspiciously.

Y/N: (thoughts) Is this that nun that was supposed to come here? Dohnaseek had been talking about it since our last contract together.

Y/N looked back at the nun's hands and saw two rings. One on each hands. Y/N knew what those were. He picked up a book full of known sacred gears over the years.

Y/N: (thoughts) That sacred gear...that's Twilight Healing. Raynare is gathering quite the powerful pieces.

???: Hey there cutie!

Y/N: Huh?

Yolko: Name's Yolko, dear. Let's say you come with me and have a little fun. What do you say?

Y/N: (glares and sighs) I don't have time for this. Get out of here.

Yolko: My!~ What a rude boy!~ I like those who play hard to get.~

Y/N: I don't have time for this.

Y/N runs off and leaves this lady that tried to flirt with him. He followed Issei and the nun and saw that they stopped at the base of a hill that led to Raynare's base. The church.

Y/N: (thoughts) It's just as I thought. This is the nun Dohnaseek was talking about.

Y/N could overhear talking from around the corner and peers around. Seeing Issei and the nun talking to each other. He found out that her name's Asia Argento. She asked Issei to come by the church anytime.

Y/N: (thoughts) This'll cause problems for you Issei. This seems bad. To make matters worst, they both enjoy each other's company. 

He sees Issei wave and leaves the girl behind. Y/N's phone rings and he receives a message from Rias. He was asked to come to their school club house at the end of their school day. Seeing Y/N had no plans for the day, he agrees.

Timeskip-Dawn

It was now dawn and Y/N had now arrived at the school. Just before he was about to cross the school gates, he was sealed in place.

Y/N: (sigh) Did you really have to do that, Miss Sitri?

Sona: Why are you here, kuro no kenshi.

Blonde kid: Wait? This guy is the Black Swordsman? Hah! He doesn't look like much!

Sona was usually tired of her pawn's, Saji Genshirou, antics so she released the sealing spell she had placed upon Y/N and said swordsman dashed in front of Saji and put Elucidator up against his neck. Sona's peerage was about to attack, but Sona held her hand up to halt them while doing so with a small smirk on her face.

Y/N: You know...if you keep up that attitude you may die. In fact...there may be contract on your head.

Saji: (sweating bullets) W-Wait really?

Y/N: (sheathes Elucidator) No not really. But seriously, keep up that attitude you may die.

Sona and Tsubaki kept eyeing the sword on his back. The black one to be specific.

Sona: (thoughts) So he's still been using that sword for all these years, huh? (normal) I see you've still been using that sword my family forged for you.

Y/N: Of course. I can never forget what you're sister and you're family has done for me. This sword will always remain precious. Anyway, to answer your previous question, Rias has a contract for me so she asked me to head over to the old school club house.

Sona: Is that so? You may proceed then.

Y/N proceeds through the school gates and heads in the direction of the old school house while the rest of Sona's peerage, except Tsubaki, wonder why their king had just let a mercenary through. On school grounds no less.

Saji: Umm, Sona-kaichou? Why did you let him in?

Tsubasa: I would like to know that as well. Also, what did he mean by grateful to you're family?

Sona: ...My sister found him when he was just fourteen. She took care of him for a year. Despite being rejected from joining her peerage, Y/N here respects our family and is one of the few humans that respect us.

Saji: And where did he get those swords?

Sona: My sister had some of the best blacksmiths forged one of the most finest swords. That one, the one he wields is known as Elucidator. When sister had presented that to him, he showed great care for it. The blue one was earned from his first contract which was defeating an ethereal swordsman.

Saji: So is you're sister like his mom or?

Sona: You could say that. Now then, back to work everyone.

With Y/N

Y/N was now in the ORC's building. He knocked on the door once and someone opened it. As soon as he stepped inside, he drew Elucidator and was met with Kiba's own sword.

Rias: Kiba!

Y/N: Why must you attack me?

Kiba: You have answers I need! Who are you!? There is only one person who could infuse magic into their sword and that was my best friend! Who are you!?

Y/N: I cannot answer that question.

Kiba: Tell me!

Rias: Kiba that's enough!

Kiba looks back and calms down. He looks back towards the hooded Y/N and makes his sword disappear and takes his seat next to Koneko, who puts her hand on his shoulder. He turns to her and gives her an appreciative nod. Y/N's focus then returns back to Rias. Issei was next to her and looks back at the Black Swordsman with many thoughts going through his mind.

Issei: (thoughts) Just who are you? You're so familiar somehow.

Rias: I apologize for my knight's outburst.

Y/N: It's quite alright. What have you come to talk about?

Rias: Ah yes, right. I have spoken with my brother and he has given me the funds. Who are the ones that sent Dohnaseek to attack Issei?

Y/N: Raynare. She seeks to conquer this small town. (thoughts) Probably shouldn't tell them about Azazel.

Rias: Of course it was Raynare. Should we attack her, my brother is offering 55,000 yen per hour.

Y/N: ...Then consider the contract taken. Tell me you're attacking and I'll be there.

Rias: All right then. Glad that's taken care of.

Y/N: I shall be off now.

Just as Y/N was about to leave, Kiba stood up and asks him a question. One that Y/N doesn't want to answer.

Kiba: Who are you? You have answers that I need. Please...I just want to know whether my best friend is alive or not.

Y/N: ...I know who it is. I will tell you this. He is dead. And how I know how to infuse my magic is because I worked my ass off. If that's all then I'm leaving.

Those words had hit Kiba hard. He didn't want to believe it, but he just needed to hear it from the Black Swordsman himself as he suspected him to be who he was looking for. Y/N didn't want to reveal his secret just yet.

Rias: Oh wait!

Y/N: Yes, Gremory?

Rias: My brother has a contract for two stray devils. They just so happen to be in the same place. Could you take care of the other? This is a good opportunity to show how a peerage fights after all.

Issei: Wait...what?

Y/N: Sure. How much?

Rias: Bounty is 40,000 yen.

Y/N: Deal.

Issei: Is money all you care about?

Y/N: I'm a mercenary. It's how I get by.

Rias gives Y/N the Gremory seal so he could teleport with them. They teleported to a forested area. They stood in front of an abandoned building. They enter inside and two girls appear behind a pillar. Issei's perverted side quickly comes through.

Issei: Tits!

Rias: Stray devils Vice and Ursa. You both have abandoned your master, and have let your powers run rampant. You will now face judgement for your sins. In the name of the Gremory family... I will destroy you!

(A/N): Note. Ursa was not in the anime/manga. I just needed an extra enemy so Y/N could show off his skills to the ORC.

Vice: Oh, what an impudent little brat you are. 

Ursa: Shall we dye all of you in bright red, just like that hair of yours?

They both caress and rub their breasts. Issei was being his normal perverted self while Y/N on the other hand was just itching to unsheathe his sword.

Rias: That is the line of a desperate small fry.

Issei: So this is a stray devil? (perverted look) She just looks like a sexy exhibitionist to me!

Y/N: (thoughts) Jeez man, how perverted can you be?

The two stray devils continue to caress their breasts and they rise with giant hands soon coming out, revealing a massive body to be under them. This shocks Issei as he now sees this is kinda terrifying.

Rias: Black Swordsman?

Y/N: I'll take care of the other.

Y/N dashes as his sword, Elucidator, glows blue and swings it down diagonally, using the sword skill {Vertical}. The stray devil quickly dodges as Y/N chases her around, swinging his sword. Kiba looks in shock as he recognizes those movements.

Kiba: (thoughts) There's no doubt about it. That's the Sword Skill Y/N called, "Vertical." Y/N...is that you?

The stray devil known as Ursa kept dodging Y/N's attacks. She gets back and finally casts her magic. Small magic circles appear on Ursa's breasts and they fire out magic attacks. Seeing this, feels disgusted.

Y/N charges up his sword and dodges before leaping forward and upward strikes. This skill was called, {Rage Spike}. He gets back and does his most powerful move. He does the ten-hit skill {Nova Ascension}. He slashes top right to bottom left for the first attack. He pauses for a millisecond before he slashes horizontally then bottom left to top right. His fourth hit is a repeat of the first one and then the fifth hit is a repeat of the third one. He slashes from bottom left to top right as the sixth hit, followed by a clockwise turn to send a energy wave as the seventh hit. Y/N then spins counterclockwise and does the same as the seventh for the eight hit. On the ninth hit, Y/N does a front flip and slashes from top right to bottom left. The final hit, Y/N thrusts his sword forward, similar to that of {Vorpal Strike}.

The devil is instantly defeated and he looks back to the others to see that their still fighting the other stray devil. While Y/N did watch the fight, he mostly watched Kiba. 

Y/N: (thoughts) What happened to you Kiba? Why don't you swing you're sword with grace? You're posture is not what it used to be.

Y/N then stood next to Rias. Rias who was so focused on the fight at hand he didn't see Y/N next to her. She jumps a little while Y/N just stares at her in confusion, tilting his head.

Y/N: Did I do something wrong?

Rias: N-No it's not that. I just didn't expect you to finish that fast.

Y/N: Honestly, I was disappointed. I used my most powerful single-hand sword skill and it killed her. Shame really.

Rias: (thoughts) H-He wanted to fight even longer?

At last, Rias calls off Akeno to stop her relenting onslaught of magic attacks on the stray devil. Rias walks closer to the devil and puts her hand on her hip.

Rias: Do you have any last words?

Vice: You bitch...

Rias: Is that so? (forms magic circle) In that case, time to be extinguished!

Rias then releases the magic circle and a blast of red destructive magic destroyed the stray devil. Y/N felt satisfied with his work and was about to leave.

Rias: And where are you going?

Y/N: Home. Wire the money to my account. I'll send it to you.

Kiba: Wait.

Y/N: Now what?

Kiba: Who are you really.

Y/N: (sigh) I can tell that you won't let me leave without an answer so I'll say this. Duel me and if you win...I'll tell you what you want. But not tonight. I've got another contract.

Y/N then walks away leaving a confused Rias along with the rest of her peerage, except Kiba. Kiba's eyes are full of determination. He had to win that duel with all his might. He needed to know who was the Black Swordsman.

Issei: What was that all about?

Kiba: It's nothing. Good night, buchou.

Rias: Y-Yes.

With Y/N

Y/N trudges through the forest. Although he could have teleported with the Gremory peerage, he didn't want to be bombarded with questions from Kiba. It did pain him from now answering his friend. Y/N always cared for Kiba and the others like family during his time in that warehouse.

As he walked, monsters started to appear. Trolls, wolves, and ogres appear. Y/N unsheathes Elucidator and his sword glows red, using the sword skill {Sharp Nail}. He slashes from the bottom right to the top left, followed by a horizontal slash from left to right. He then ends the skill with another slash from top right to bottom left. He turns his attention to the two oncoming wolves heading his way. He holds his sword out behind him and it turns blue. He does {Horizontal}, doing a horizontal slash that eliminates the two wolves.

He hears the growl of the ogre behind him so his sword glows blue again, doing {Vertical Arc}. He does a vertical slash from an overhead position with a little backward motion. He then follows it up with two vertical slashes and concludes with a powerful downward slash. Like the skill {Horizontal Square}, it ends with a rhombus like trail.

With one last troll left, he raises his sword up, with it glowing red, performing {Vorpal Strike}. He lunges forward, driving his blade right through the troll, killing it instantly. Y/N sighs to himself as he sheathes his sword as all the enemies have been defeated. He then thought to himself. Who were the ones that sent those monsters after him? He receives a message from Dohnaseek.

Dohnaseek: 'Mister Black Swordsman, come to our base tomorrow.'

Y/N: 'I'll be there.'

He puts his phone away and puts his hands into his pockets, trudging along home.

Timeskip

Y/N arrived at the abandoned church, walking up the slope to get there. He steps inside to see Dohnaseek in his typical outfit. A black trench coat and a black cowboy-styled hat. Dohnaseek motions Y/N to step into the basement with him.

One arriving at the end of the stairs, he's met with Raynare at the end of the room with what seems like an altar. Kalawarner, Mittelt, and Freed were at the end of the room as well. What made Y/N's eyes widen was the person chained to the wall. It was Asia knocked out.

Raynare: So, kuro no kenshi...do you like the view?

Y/N: What the hell is all this?

Dohnaseek: Raynare is planning on stealing this girl's sacred gear, Twilight Healing.

Y/N: Wouldn't that mean...

Raynare: Killing her? Yes. That is what that means.

Y/N: I see.

Raynare: I hope you keep you're end of the bargain. After all, the Gremory clan will be coming after us.

Y/N: Very well. I shall post myself here for right now. If they really are coming here, that means our duel will happen.

Raynare: What duel?

Y/N: I was on a duel with the Gremory's knight. Should he win, I shall give him some answers to my identity.

Raynare: Hmm. That reminds me...just who are you?

Y/N: I have no reason to tell you. If you excuse me.

Y/N turns around and leaves, leaving a very suspicious Raynare. She was deep in thought. Who was the mysterious Black Swordsman? No one really knew who it was beside the Sitri family, the great devil king, Sirzechs, the governor of Fallen Angels, Azazel, and the head of the Angels, Michael.

Timeskip-Night

Y/N patiently waits on top, hiding above the rafters of the church. Later on, Freed hides on top as well. He kept asking Y/N questions to which Y/N ignores. He just wanted to get this contract done and head home. He gets a message from Rias and he tells her that he would act apart of Raynare's plan for now before killing her.

A few hours later, the front door explodes with Issei, Kiba, and Koneko coming in. Y/N and Freed jump down from the rafters.

Freed: Whoa! Not so fast!

Issei: I knew it! The Black Swordsman really was in league with the Fallen Angels!

Y/N: This was merely a contract. (looks to Kiba) Do you wish to settle our duel here, Knight of Gremory?

Kiba: I would want nothing more.

Y/N: Shall we dance?

Kiba nods and they both charge at each other, a loud clang was heard. They were both launched back. Y/N raises his blade and it glows red, using {Vorpal Strike} and lunges forward.

Kiba parries the blade, but Y/N's blade narrowly misses his neck and it chips a piece of his skin. Kiba then removes the blade and raises his overhead, bringing it down trying to deliver a powerful slash. Y/N blocks it and kicks Y/N off. The two run at each other, swinging their blades. Each passing moment, the swing of their blades, clanging, sparks flying. As the two clash, both their lips begin to curve. They both missed their joy of duels.

It seemed so familiar to Kiba. Y/N had missed this exhilarating feeling. Y/N raises his sword and lunges, it glows blue, using {Rage Spike} he thrusts his sword up. Kiba parries it, launching the blade up. Kiba sees his opening. He thrusts his sword forward. In a split second, Kiba's sword was parried. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked to the two. Kiba was shocked. Y/N had pulled out his second blade. The Blue Rose Sword.

Y/N: I'm impressed. Very few people have made me pull out my second one.

Kiba: ...

Y/N: Entertain me some more.

Y/N twirls his two swords. The one on his right glows blue while the other glowed red. He then lunges forward, doing {Double Circular}. Kiba raises his blade and parries one of them with the other narrowly missing his side. Kiba rolls to the side and slashes horizontally. Y/N pushes the blade to the side with his left and tries to slash with his right. Kiba quickly swaps his sword over to his other and parries Y/N's right sword. Y/N jumps back before leaping forward, using {Vertical}. He swings it down vertically and Kiba goes to thrust his sword. Using Skill Connect, Y/N uses {Vorpal Strike}.

Kiba knew he lost the fight. He wasn't strong enough. The blade collides with Kiba and it shatters. Kiba falls to the ground in tears. He couldn't get the answer he wanted.

Kiba: (thoughts) Sorry everyone.

Y/N: (thoughts) Sorry old friend. (normal) You fought well...swordsman.

Y/N notices that Issei and Koneko had gone below. Kiba gets up slowly and Y/N walks over, offering his hand.

Kiba: Why are you...?

Y/N: My contract with theirs is over. Now it's time to finish yours. Besides...you have comrades to take care of.

Kiba smiles and nods and runs down below to help his friends. Y/N smiles to himself, but it quickly changes to a frown. He looks back at the entrance of the church and slowly walks out. He then comes across the barrier that the Fallen Angels had set up. The barrier was quite weak as he was able to shatter it with the Blue Rose Sword.

The barrier had shattered and the three Fallen Angels and Rias and Akeno look towards the intruder of the barrier.

Mittelt: Well lookie here! We've got reinforcements!

Kalawarner: You devil scum will die here now.

Dohnaseek stares at Y/N and was able to notice his black eyes. Dohnaseek knew what that meant and he nodded.

Dohnaseek: (smiles) I see. So it's time then?

Y/N: I'm afraid so.

Mittelt: What are you guys talking about?

Dohnaseek: It has been an honor working with you...Black Swordsman.

Y/N: Indeed it has...Dohnaseek.

Dohnaseek knelt on the ground, ready to accept his death. His teammates then fly down and meet his level. Y/N charged up his blade, using the skill {Horizontal}. Mittelt and Kalawarner look back only to see a flash of blue light and Y/N's sword had moved like it was slashed across horizontally. They tried to respond, but they couldn't. Their heads fell off and their bodies disappeared into black feathers.

Akeno: What just happened?

Rias: Care to explain, mister Black Swordsman?

Y/N: It's simple...their contract has ended. Now it's your contract to be finished.

The three then begin walking to the church. What awaited them? Who knows.

With Issei

Issei had come up and laid Asia's dead body onto the ground while Raynare was howling with laughter in the background.

Raynare heals the wound she suffered from Kiba. As she does this, she taunts Asia. Issei relents back. Asia just wanted to have more friends. Unfortunately, she died making one.

Raynare: That girl is dead, you know? Whether or not you tried to protect her is irrelevant. You were unable to protect. Back then...and now...

Issei: (cries) I know that. And I can't forgive myself. (clenches fists) I can't forgive you either...or myself... I can't forgive myself for this!

Issei's sacred gear then grows brighter, responding to his feelings. Growing stronger. He lunges at Raynare many times, his power increasing. She fires red light spears into Issei's legs which causes him immense pain. He grips them, trying to remove them all while Raynare taunts him. But, Issei was able to remove them. But by doing so he collapses onto his knees.

Through sheer will power, Issei rises and sprouts his wings. He walks slowly up to Raynare. His sacred gear responds to his anger, his will, and it evolves once more, changing into a fully covered gauntlet. His gauntlet yells out "explosion" and Issei. Raynare, now confused and slightly terrified, fires a light spear at him. He deflects it, only causing even more fear into her. She tries to flee but she feels her arm getting grabbed. Issei had latched his hand onto her arm and punches her, sending her flying through a window. He was about to collapse to the floor until Kiba catches him.

Kiba: You defeated a Fallen Angel all by yourself, eh?

Issei: Took ya long enough, pretty boy.

Kiba: The President told me not to interfere in your fight.

Issei: Did you win yours against...

Kiba: (shakes head) No. I lost, unfortunately...but next time...I'll be even stronger.

Rias had shown up and later, Y/N and Koneko show up as well, dragging a weakened Raynare behind them.

Rias: Nice to meet you, Fallen Angel, Raynare. (Raynare looks up at her) I am Rias Gremory. Heir to the Gremory clan.

Raynare: You're a daughter of the Gremory clan!?

Rias: (smiles) So pleased to make your acquaintance...although I'm sure we won't know each other for much longer. And also... (drops feathers) Your friends came to greet me...the Black Swordsman sent them flying away.

Raynare: (looks to Y/N) You! You betrayed us!

Y/N: I did not. Your contract was simply over.

Raynare looks in shock as her allies had been killed. All her plans were foiled.

Raynare: A daughter of Gremory...how dare you...!

Rias: Ever since you targeted Issei, we got wind of a Fallen Angel plot in this city. If only you hadn't interfered with us, I would have let you be.

Issei: Buchou...did you do all of this for me?

Rias: (notices sacred gear) Issei... That sacred gear...

Issei: Huh? Oh, yeah. It just changed shape suddenly.

Rias: Yes. I see. That's what happened. Fallen Angel Raynare. Issei Hyoudou's sacred gear was not just a simple Twice Critical.

Raynare: What?

Rias: It can measure its wielder's powers immeasurably for just ten seconds, to the point even a god could be destroyed.

Y/N: One of the thirteen Longinus Gears. The Red Dragon Emperor. The Boosted Gear. And because she let her guard down, you won Issei.

Rias: Yes. And now you will disappear, Fallen Angel.

Y/N: Gremory, (unsheathes Elucidator) I'll take it from here.

Rias: Are you sure?

Y/N: Yes. I'll know what she'll try to use. It won't fool me.

Rias: (pauses and smiles) I see. Go on then.

Y/N nods and returns his gaze to Raynare. She was terrified as she stared at the black dull eyes of Y/N. It felt like he was piercing her soul.

Y/N: Sayonara, Fallen Angel.

And in one fell swoop, Y/N slayed Raynare. He sheathes his blade and turns back to the ORC.

Y/N: I'm done here. I suggest returning the nun's sacred gear. Wire the money when you can. My work's done here. Oh, and Blonde Swordsman?

Kiba: Yes?

Y/N: If you wish to have your answers, come find and we'll duel once again.

Kiba gives Y/N a sincere nod and Y/N turns around and walks away. Forgetting the weakling known as Raynare, but not forgetting the determined looks on his friends faces.

Longest chapter I have probably written. Hope you guys liked it and sorry if it feels too rushed. My hands have been cramping from all this typing and I need to continue the Naruto book. The High School of the Dead will be continued, but right now, From The Ashes is a priority. Stay safe out there.
