Your POV

As you dashed across the rooftops in the night sky, you began to growl softly to yourself. You landed on the edge of a nearby roof overlooking the loading area of the Bullheads and your mind wandered.

You: Damn, how did Ruby manage to track me down so quickly? Wait...why did she follow me and how'd she know I was gone?!

You took your mask and hood then hopped down and walked towards the Bullhead to get on board. As you were about to enter, you heard a cheerful voice that was all too familiar to you.

Ruby: "Y/NNNNNNNNN!!!!" *rubs at you and tackles you into a hug* "There you are! Where did you run off to?!"

You: *grunts when your head hits the floor of the Bullhead but chuckles a bit* "Hey Ruby, I needed to get something last minute before the initiation begins."

Ruby: "Ohhhh, I see. Oh! You'll never guess who I met tonight when I was looking for you!"

You: I have an idea. Oh really, who did you meet?

Ruby: "I met the Black Reaper!" *gets off you and helps you up*

You: "Did you now? What did you think of him?" *mentally smacks yourself* Why'd I ask that?

Ruby: "Wellll, he's a lot moooorreee...violent then I thought. Though, his weapons and fighting are really cool!"

You: "He sounds interesting, but why'd you chase me down at night without getting changed?"

Ruby: *looks at her outfit and rubs the back of her head then looks at you* "I uhh...h-heh, kinda forgot."

You sighed softly and facepalmed and shook your head slightly then looked back at Ruby.

You: "At least you're alright and did not get hurt."

Ruby: *pouts* "I can handle myself, you know?"

You: *ruffles her hair* "I'm well aware Ruby, I'm just saying that I'm glad you're okay."

Ruby: *smiles* "Thanks Y/N, are you ready for tomorrow?"

You: *nods and loos out the window* "As ready as I'll ever be."

Time Skip: Morning

The next morning, you groaned softly as you slowly woke up. You sat up slowly and stretched up, popping a few of the bones in your arms when you did.

You: "Well, that was certainly a good night sleep." *gets up and starts getting ready for the test ahead* "Wonder who my teammates will be."

You walked out towards the cliff when Glynda had informed everyone to meet. You were a bit early, partially because you didn't really care about meeting new people, as far as you were concerned, you could only trust Ruby, Yang and Tai. As you waited, you pulled out your scroll and plugged in your headphones to listen to some music, starting to hum along.

As the drum roll started on that day, heard a hundred miles away
A million shells were fired! And the green fields turn to grey

The bombardment lasted all day long, yet the forts were standing strong

As the song came to an end you looked around and noticed everyone had shown up. Well, almost everyone. There were two people missing.

You: "Where is..."

Yang: "Hey Y/N! There you are!" *smiles and pats your back hard, but playfully*

You: *grunts but chuckles a bit and turns around* "Hey Yang, Ruby. I was beginning to wonder when you two would show up."

Ruby: "Yang here wouldn't wake up and she kept pestering me all night!"

Yang: "Oh come on sis, you need to lighten up a bit. Try and make some new friends while you're here, okay?"

Ruby: "I don't need to make new friends, I have you and Y/N after all."

Yang: *frowns* "Still, you BOTH need more friends actually."

You: "Woah! Leave me outta this one Yang." *backs up a bit*

Yang: "Nah ah! You both need to make new friends. Especially since you'll end up on a team of four anyway." *smiles*

You: *sighs in defeat* "You gotta admit Ruby, she's got us there."

Ruby pouted and folded her arms under her chest and looked away from Yang angrily but quickly got over it. You faced forward as Glynda and Ozpin walked forward and began to explain to everyone how the test will operate.

Ozpin: "One the other side of this forest, there is a shrine with artifacts. Your objective is simple, bring back an artifact of your choosing."

You: Seems simple, too simple for my liking. What's the catch?

Ozpin: "You will be assigned a partner during this trial, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your teammate and partner for the next four years."

You mentally face palmed and groaned quietly to yourself. You shook your head slightly and thought how bad it would be if you had to team up with a complete stranger that you didn't even trust.

You: This is just greeeaaaatt. Hopefully I'll get someone who at least can handle themselves.

Glynda: "With that out of the way, we will monitor your progress form here, and now begin sending you all off. We wish you all the best of luck."

After Glynda got finished speaking, students began to be launched off the platforms under their feet, being sent hurdled into the air towards the forest. It was not too long before you were send flying through the air and as you neared the forest, your mind wandered about how life would be for you from this point one.

Chapter Five End

Okay so I now it's been a stupid long time since I last updated this and I really have no reason for it. I hope you'll all forgive me, I'm going to begin updating my stories more frequently than I used to since I am on summer break. I will try to manage at least one update per day with the exceptions of weekends, Saturday and Sunday. But hopefully you all enjoyed this, I know it's short but I have a bunch of things planed for part two of this chapter which I should have out later this week if I'm not too busy.
