Chapter 3: LockDown
And speaking of a lockdown, the state of New Jersey was going through a strange virus that acted like the flu. So the whole state was under a lockdown ordered by the governor of the state. It was all because of that captain. He acted strangely like he was infected by rabies and attacked his nurse. Soon everyone acted strangely with the symptoms of the virus. Because, the black pearl was donated to the museum in the city and anyone that came near it acted very sick. Something wasn't right, but the doctors didn't think it was the new Black Pearl.
Durning lockdown, a young woman in her mid twenties, was staying with her folks during the lockdown and even her older brother Billie.
Mr Thomas was exhausted of hard work that he went for a nap, Billie just wandered off.
Rose, her mother came in and turned on the tv while Sarah was reading a book.
It was the same announcing about the virus and the lockdown, but nothing else.
Soon, Jarret, Sarah's father, came in from the bedroom waking up from his nap.
"Has there been any other news on the tv?" he asked, "other than the same old message they keep playing over and over again."
"No, it's on every channel." Rose said.
He sat down groaning. He took a chip of the salsa and gaged once he chewed. "How old is this?"
"What do you mean?" Rose asked, she grabbed the jar and looked at it, "it's only two days old."
"Well it just tastes funky. Does anyone know where Billie is anyway?"
"Out." Sarah shrugged.
"What do you mean out?" Both her parents gasped.
"I don't know. He just took the car and left."
Both of her parents looked concerned now and checked out the garage and did see his vehicle was gone. They head back inside and tried calling Billie, but he won't answer.
"Whatever is going on out there I don't like it," Sarah's father said, shaking his head, "everything feels off.... whatever this is I don't think it's just the government trying to spook us all this time."
"What could they be hiding?" Sarah asked her mom.
Rose shook her head, "I've no idea, honey. But it can't be good."
"It has something to do with those discoveries they made. Those blocks of ice they fished out of the bay," her father said.
Rose looked at him, worriedly. Her husband often was big into conspiracy theories.
"We don't know that, they've not given any details about that."
"It's too much of a coincidence. Mark my words. Whatever they found has brought trouble."
"I doubt it. But then again, they did discover unknown diseases buried in the ice in Antarctica." Sarah added.
"Exactly!" Her father said.
Rose shook her head, "stop it, honey. Let's not speculate."
"Just remember I said it. I know there's a connection. And it's a lockdown so whatever it is can't be good. It's probably some global pandemic."
"It's probably another Covid 19," Sarah shrugged, "no big deal, dad."
"They weren't quite as bad as this during covid 19," he shook his head.
"They're probably being even more cautious since what happened then, is all," Rose said.
"Yeah, I wouldn't take it seriously, dad." Sarah had faith in God that everything will be alright. Nothing bad could possibly happen, except maybe false information from the government. Like they did with the Coronavirus.
Rose was still worrying about her son and tried calling him again but her husband thought maybe he was just out with friends and acting up.
Soon he came home shaking.
"Mom? Dad? I need help." He was holding his arm that was bleeding.
"What happened?" Rose ran to him, frantic, "did someone hurt you?"
His father stood up, "calm down, Rose, let's get him cleaned up."
"I think he needs to go the hospital. The wound looks infected already... which isn't possible."
"Some random old man came out of nowhere and bit me! My friends took care of him, but ran from me saying this is like the Walking Dead. I think the old dude was on some fricking bath beads or something!"
"We need to take you to the emergency room," Rose said, fearful for her son, "you need a tetanus shot."
Sarah noticed and felt sick looking at his arm. She couldn't stand the sight of blood. Suddenly Billie fell back and passed out on the floor.
"Sarah, go in the bathroom!" Jarret her father panicked. He sensed something bad was gonna happen. "And whatever you do, DON'T COME OUT!"
Sarah ran upstairs and locked the bathroom door shaking.
Jarret then picked his son up and carried him to the couch while Rose tried to tend to his wound.
Jarret then texted Mr Gold his friend and Neighbor that if he heard anything from their house that he would come and save Sarah and protect her. He didn't respond at the moment, but he knew he would get the text.
"Back up, Rose," Jarret said, "I just saw him twitch..."
Rose was confused, but she did as he said, "Jarret, he's our son though, he needs help."
"Something tells me he isn't normal now."
Billie groaned getting up. His mouth started to foam up and growled at them both. He then lunged at Jarret and bite down his neck.
Jarret cried out in pain and tried to push his son off of him. Rose screamed, but Jarret yelled at her to run. She didn't want to, but she tried to run for the stairs. However, her son then chased after her and attacked her mindlessly.
Sarah heard the screams and was shaking trying to calm herself down. She was even praying to God that whatever was the danger it would leave.
