I wake up to a warm bed, my bed still. It's still light outside so I figure I took a small nap. Jason seems to have left me.

I sit up and reach for my glasses Jason seemed to take off for me and see the light in the bathroom. I glance at my alarm clock and sigh. 5:47 pm.

When I look back at the door, I find Jason standing there staring at me. He grabs my hairbrush from my duffle bag from earlier and then makes his way over to my bed.

I move up so he can sit behind me and I stare at him through the reflection across from my bed in the mirror.

He softly brushes through my hair before french braiding it off to the side. I watch him concentrate with his furrowed eyebrows and his soft blue eyes. I don't say anything, I just watch him.

“You’re very pretty Abigail.” He whispers softly, barely enough for me to hear.

But I hear it alright.

When he’s done he stands up and turns around getting down on one knee, as if he were proposing to me. I jump on his back and he stands up slowly after confirming that I'm wrapped around him securely.

“Jason..” I mumble while playing with his long brown hair. It's so soft.

He makes his way downstairs while carrying me, but he doesn't respond.  Except for one word with five words.

Later.

I huff and wait till we reach the cold living room where my dad and Miranda are talking softly to each other.

Jason sets me on the couch and sits down next to me. Not giving me a moment to lean on him he wraps a blanket around me. He finally settles and I just lean onto the back of the couch facing straight ahead to where the adults are speaking.

My dad starts, “Well that was that. We finally got rid of her… While you were sleeping I called you sister and told her what happened. She's coming home next week, like ordered…”

“T-taylor's coming home?” I choke out.

I got so used to it being Jason and I. I don't want Taylor home.

“Yes sweetie, that's what it said in the notice.” My dad replies with a look on his face.

Between me, Jason, and Miranda none of us look thrilled.

Jason takes a deep breath, “Abigail and I will get her room ready, tomorrow.”

Everyone nods and my dad goes onto the next topic, “I checked on the calendar, next Monday you have a doctor's appointment Abigail, so Jason and you will be excused so he can take you.”

I sigh and nod. Jason is the one in the family that worries about my health the most. It really.annoys me.

“Finally,” Miranda sighs and glances between Jason and I, “We want to know what's going on between you two.”

I narrow my eyebrows, “Jason's just being a protective brother.”

Right?

Both adults raise their eyebrows but let my answer slide, “Abby you can go now, Jason please stay. Oh and we’re going on a date in a hour, the house is yours.”

I get up, confused. Yet I go upstairs not questioning them, staring at Jason the entire time.

What is going on?
