It was dark. Only darkness in the cursed realm. How Cole knew he was there was a mystery to him, but somehow it was clear. Cole was inside his team's worst fear.
    Floating around aimlessly, Cole wondered if he would ever get out of this place of darkness. It was so dead, cold, grey, lifeless. In fact, Cole had barely seen anything in the minutes, days, weeks, months, years he's been there. Except for a strange shadow that seemed to follow him. Cole would whip around and realize that once again, he'd been mistaken. Or so he thought. One day, a black hand grabbed Cole's shoulder. He stared with fear at-the shadow? "What do you want?" He asked, the first time using his voice in who knew how long. The shadow just smiled a cruel smile and pounced, making Cole gasp. In one fluid moment, he'd entered Cole's body. As Cole turned around, his eyes glowed red. But nobody was there to see them.

Jay's P.O.V.
I open my eyes, which were squeezed shut, and see- nothing. Hazy dark light surrounds me. Looking around, I spot Kai hugging Lloyd, Skylor rubbing her head, Zane and Pixal standing close. Next to me, Nya is still holding my hand, pale and wide-eyed. Slowly getting to my feet, I ask, "Did-did we make it?" My voice echoes as though we're in some sort of giant cavern. "Hey, this is kinda cool, actually. It's like the time when Kai and I went to that venomari tomb and then Kai got sprayed and I was all like no I'm the green ninja and then there was that echo! Remember that, Kai? Remember?" "Shh!" Kai frowns and puts a finger to his lips. "Be quiet!" "We made it into the cursed realm," Skylor speaks up, "but we need to be careful. There are all sorts of evil beings down here, my dad included." "Does that mean my dad might still be alive?" Lloyd asks, his eyes full of hope. "Umm,"I say, not wanting to break it to the kid that his old man has almost definitely kicked the bucket. "Only time will tell," Zane interjects, saving us all from having to tell Lloyd the awful truth.
"Right now we need to focus on saving Cole." Nya says, startling me. She's been silent until now. "Everyone start looking."
Lloyd, Skylor and Kai go to the left, Zane and Pixal to the right, and Nya and I keep walking straight. Our footsteps are muffled by the sound of thousands of tiny whispering voices. They overlap into some sort of loop until I can tell what they're saying.
"Intruders, intruders, intruders, intruders."
"Nya, we might want to walk faster."
"Shh, I think I see something." We've suddenly walked out into a large catacomb. It's filled with tens of thousands of ghosts. We both gasp in shock and stand there for a second, seeing all the dead people. Nya reaches over and takes my hand again, I think unconsciously, as I feel the world spinning. "You've seen much worse than this, Jay. You can handle the cursed realm." She reassures me, but her voice is shaking. Then, with a start, she tells me. "I think I see Cole."
Kneeling with his forehead touching the wall in a crevice of the rock is a muscular boy with shaggy black hair. Nya pulls me over to where he is. "Cole, is that you?" Nya asks softly. The boy slowly raises his head.
It's Cole.
"Cole!" Nya almost shrieks as she basically jumps into Cole's arms, hugging him. I feel a pang of jealousy but remind myself he just died. "Nya!" Cole says, with an almost mad delight, as he pulls her closer. Then, he sees me.
"Him!" Cole roars, pointing one finger at me. "He killed me! I am not going back with him!" "Cole, it was an accident! It wasn't Jay's fault!" Nya says and storms back to my side, lacing her fingers with mine. "I understand if you are mad at him right now, God knows I was, but Jay is innocent! He's sorry! We talked and-" "Oh, so that's how it's gonna be!" Cole yells, staring at our intertwined hands with what can only be described as rage. "I'm gone for whoever knows how long and you've  already moved on! Well guess what? I haven't! But you two can just go back to the bounty and be happy, and I'll stay here. Who needs a ghost, anyways?" He turns to leave us when Nya shouts, "Cole, wait!"
He stops. But then I notice everything else has too. "Well, Nya, you know how Skylor told us to be quiet because we didn't know what could be here? Well, that wasn't exactly quiet." We both turn to the great room with dread. All the ghosts in the room are looking right at us. Their eyes turn red. Then with one swift movement, they all say in raspy voices, "INTRUDERS!"
The ghosts move.
"Run!" I scream and keep screaming, warning the others of the danger. "Allninjatothemeetingspotwefoundcolebutarebeingchasedbyaghostarmy!" Nya seizes Cole and starts dragging him towards the exit. "Come back to Ninjago with us! Please!" Cole merely nods. Frantic, we race back to the place we landed in and are met up by our equally breathless teammates. Nobody has time to acknowledge Cole because Skylor tells Lloyd: "quick, shoot your green energy in a circle around us!" Lloyd does as he was told and Skylor hastily begins the return spell. Just as she finishes the last word, the horse of ghosts closes in on us...
And then we're free-falling through a whirlpool of light.
