Chapter 10

"Haha, ginger!"

♢ ♢

It was the day of the first task an I, of course, was nervous but my bad feeling had died for the large part. It was still there, but for now, it was staying quiet. Cedric had asked me to meet him. He said he wanted me to walk to the champions tent with him so he could tell me something.

I still hadn't figured out the voice in last nights dream. I only knew that I woke up sweating, gasping for breath, crying and there were slight scars on my arm where their words were burnt into me.

I was planning on telling Cedric, but then decided against it, as he had enough on his mind worrying about the first task but I still wasn't sure what the first task was.

I spotted him leaning against a post, looking around, he was paler than normal. "Hey" He smiled at me, nervously.

I smiled back and gave him a brief hug. "You nervous?"

"What gave it away?"He chuckled as we headed for the champions tent.

Shrugging, I let a smirk crawl onto my face. "I don't know, maybe it's the liquid running down your leg"

He nudged me, knocking me slightly, "Haha, very funny" He grumbled. He scratched the back of his neck. "Oli..."

My eyes fell into slits as I gave him a sideways glance. "What?" I asked curiously.

"Don't freak out, but, the first task...it's Dragons.." He muttered. Sighing, I nodded.

"I know. I've known for a while, Seamus and Ron told me. Why didn't you tell me?" I looked at him as the cheers of the crowd got louder and louder.

He let out a long sigh. "I just didn't want to worry you..."

Nodding my head, I smiled and gripped his hand slightly. "You can do it. Use your wand, don't forget any spells and you can do it. Everyone's rooting for you, Ced"

He nodded. "Wand..Spells" He repeated it over and over, reciting it out loud.

The champions tent appeared quite small, but as Cedric held the material that was the door, I saw that the interior was much larger than the exterior had portrayed. "Wow.." I mumbled in awe as the material fell behind me.

We waddled over to the bed which accommodated his robes which he quickly slipped on once I'd turned around.

"So who you going to be sitting with?" He asked as he pulled the shirt on.

I shrugged -though he couldn't see- "Probably Nigel and whoever he wants to sit with"

"Ah...Nigel...He likes you I've heard" Cedric said as he messed about with his shirt. I raised my brow as I looked at the ceiling.

"I don't think we're thinking of the same Nigel, Ced" I admitted with a small chuckle.

Cedric let out a grunt before he wandered forward, obviously done messing with his shirt. "Oh.."

"I'm talking about small, ginger Nigel" I told him, gesturing his height.

Cedric picked up the pair of gloves that were laid on the bed and sat on the edge, one glove on his knee, the other being slotted onto his hand. "We weren't thinking of the same Nigel then..Huh? Little Nigel's cool though, yeah?" He asked.

I returned a chuckle as he clenched his fists, stretching the gloves. "Yeah, little Nigel's cool"

Time had passed and the stadium was roaring with life. "You're making me dizzy" I whined as Cedric paced around the tent whilst I sat on the small bed which was provided.

"Hm?...Oh, sorry" He mumbled. I stood up and walked over to him, giving him a huge hug.

The hug lasted longer than intended as he held me tight. "You'll do great. Believe in yourself. But, I should probably go." He nodded, his hands falling lose around me as I peeled myself away.

Just as our hands fell away from each other there was a snap. As I spun around I was met with a rather large camera in my face, joined by Rita Skeeter. She was a famous (By enlarge) writer for the Daily Prophet. I only knew of her because Silus used to read her articles.

She laughed and smiled, her small red lips parting to show her fresh white teeth and her rosy red cheeks rose. "Oh, young love!" She laughed, throwing her arms in the air.

"If something should.." She hesitated slightly. "..go wrong, you two just might make the front page!"

"You are not aloud here. This tent is for champions and friends" Victor Krum stepped forward and spoke. Rita just tried to smirk and look pretty before finally saying,

"No matter, we got what we came here for." Her magic quill then stroked the face of Victor who took a step back to get away from it. "Actually, I got double of what I came here for!"

I looked back at Cedric. "Anyways, I better go, good luck!" I smiled. Cedric smiled back before I made my way out of the tent.

On my way out, I ran into Dumbledore and Barty Crouch. "Ah, Miss Wales, what were you doing in there?" He asked, his voice was wise and old.

"Oh, well...I-Cedri-" I stumbled and stuttered.

He chuckled and waved me off. "Oh, you don't have to explain to an old man. Though, I do know love when I see it" He smiled, shooting me a small wink.

My jaw dropped and I shook my head. "Me and Cedric aren't--I mean, we're just friends" I blurted out.

Dumbledore laughed. "Oh my apologies, Dear, I suppose this is what I get for involving myself in business I shouldn't"

I smiled back. "I should go.."

"Enjoy, Miss Wales" Barty grabbed my arm as I headed away, smiling and giving me a slight nodded before he let go of my arm and allowed me to scurry away to find Nigel. Scanning the crowd for a small, ginger boy was hard as everyone began merging into one until, finally, he caught my eye. I rushed towards him, shouting his name.

"Nigel!" I called. "Nigel!!" I shouted louder, he turned around and began looking for me, trying to find me in the crowd. "Nigel!" I yelled once more, waving my arms in the air. He smiled and nodded at me when he spotted me.

We both headed towards each other and once he reached me, he wrapped himself around me. Nigel was a good kid, kept to himself, did as he was told. He was like my little brother and was close to me. "Hey, kid, y'alright?" I asked, smiling as he let go of me.

He nodded and smiled as I ruffled his hair, making a mess of it. "Who we sitting with?" I asked as we headed towards the top/back of the stadium.

"Oh..I thought it could just be us two.." He smiled slightly.

Nodding, I smiled back. "Of course, kiddo"

Once we'd settled with a spot at the back, Nigel whipped out some rather large binoculars.

Laughing slightly, I pointed to the binoculars. "You came prepared" He grinned and looked at the stadium. Lots of people had turned out and there were lots of banners everywhere. Lots for Krum, lots for Fleur and lots for Cedric but not many for Harry, not many at all.

"Haha, what'cha got there, Ginger?" Someone laughed spitefully at Nigel. Looking around I saw, Crabbe, Goyle and  laughing. However, Draco was looking at something else and seemingly hadn't noticed me.

Nigel slowly lowered the binoculars. "They're..binoculars..." He mumbled. Binoculars were a muggle creation and Crabbe and Goyle weren't exactly fans of muggles.

Nigel was a half blood, well, at least that's what I'd heard. We'd never really spoke about that. His Mum was a muggle and his Father was a Wizard, that's all he'd told me.

Crabbe laughed and snorted. "Get those from Mummy?" Nigels face dropped. I pulled him closer to me.

At this point, Draco turned around and looked at me. "Olivia? What's going on here?" He looked around at Crabbe and Goyle laughing.

"Ginger's got binoculars! Filthy half blood!" They spat, sniggering together.

My brows furrowed. "Pick on someone your own size" I spat though my words weren't venous enough as they continued to laugh.

"Get out of here!" Draco spat. Shoving Crabbe and Goyle away from him. Causing them to walk off, giggling to themselves.

There was some shuffling before Draco slotted himself next to me. His pale, white hair escaping out from underneath his luxurious black hat.

"I should..I should go" Nigel mumbled, quickly taking off. I moved to follow after him but Draco grabbed my shoulder and shook his head.

"Stay." He grumbled.

Dumbledore's voice began to echo and boom around the stadium and the chants quietened down.

"I'm sorry about Crabbe and Goyle.." He said, his voice low and quiet.

I carefully readjusted myself and shook my head. "It's not me you should be apologising to"

"I know but..It's better than nothing" He mumbled. "How are you doing with Snape?" He asked, slowly edging closer to me, his voice getting softer.

Sighing and shrugging, I looked down. "Fine, I guess.." I paused. "I mean, other than the fact we don't ever talk and when we do he seems increasingly uninterested."

"Better than him hating you, right?" He asked.

I let out a breathless and sarcastic laugh. "Yeah, yeah. Oh, wait, I'm pretty sure he does, but whatever" We went silent as a cannon sounded. There was only a few moments before Cedric ambled out. His wand in his hand, his knuckles white from the grip.

"Has he not told you anything else?" He asked.

I shook my head. "No he hasn't, Malfoy. But you seen keen for me to find out so why don't you tell me?" I shot him a glance as Cedric made his way towards the egg. The dragon hot on his heels.

"look, I would but it's dangerous.." He admitted, his face falling to the floor as he leant against the railing.

Rolling my eyes a little, I sighed. "So dangerous, yet everyone else seems to know?"

He turned to face me, this time leaning on the railing with just one arm. "Few people know, Olivia. I wasn't given the knowledge ligghtly, okay?" He said back, his voice starting harsh but ending soft. My body shuffled to look at him.

"So who hands this knowledge out then?" I snarled slightly.

He turned back away from me, causing me to follow and look at Cedric. "I can't say or they'll hurt me and you..."

With a sigh of frustration, I watched Cedric. He jumped into a small gap between two rocks, taking a second to recover from the hits and throws he had be subject to. I noticed there was blood near his ear and wondered if he was okay. He stood up and shouted a curse I couldn't hear over the roars of the crowd that had sparked back up. Suddenly, the dragon stopped moving, freezing in place as Cedric wasted no time in rushing towards the golden egg and once he laid his hands on it, everyone screamed and shouted.

Chants of: "Diggory! Diggory!" Erupted and a smile lit up my face as he gasped for breath. I clapped and grinned as he held the egg up victoriously.

Draco moved away from the railing. "Well, looks like he did it..Without losing an arm or a leg." His comment was sarcastic but I didn't care. Cedric was okay and he managed to complete the first task but my body soon filled with apprehension as I thought about the tasks to come.

"Hey Draco.." I said as he began walking away.

He stopped and turned around. "What, Olivia?".

"Um..I hope you didn't get into trouble the other night." I paused, hesitating.

He shook his head, turning back around. "I was fine" And with that, he walked off, pushing through the crowd of cheers. I watched as he pushed people out of the way, heading to his next destination, wherever that may be..
