Chapter 1
"I suppose you want answers."
♢ ♢
The black door pulled me towards it with a violent tug.
Unsure of myself, I glanced back down at the note. It was the right house and so with shaky hands, I banged on the door with my heart beating at a million beats per minute, as if it was about to leap from my chest.
The door swung open violently, revealing a tall figure dressed in black. This person had black, greasy hair that framed their face. And their cold eyes stood out from their blank face, expressionless, until their eyes met mine. They stepped forward into the light, revealing their identity.
My eyes went wide and my jaw fell to the floor as he looked at me with a similar expression. Professor Snape had answered the door of the address Silus had given.
He quickly ushered me inside, "Come in, quickly!"
I obeyed and rushed inside, the door slamming behind me with a loud thud. My knees were trembling and my hands shaking as I gripped the note tight in my hand.
Snape pushed past me and rushed into a room, "Follow me" He muttered as he passed, his tone dark.
His house was dark and old, paint peeling from the walls. No paintings hung from the wall, only books stacked everywhere.
He led me into a room that looked as if it held the title of a lounge, yet didn't fit the image of one.
3 arm chairs sat facing each other, a small coffee table separated and two dining chairs sat against the wall, next to the window. I would have considered the room dull if it wasn't for the books piled everywhere.
"Sit," he ordered. I sat down, complying. "What happened?" he asked, his voice staying one tone.
I took a large intake of breath before starting, "I got home and there was blood everywhere and he was...-Dead, this note was in his hand.." I passed him the crumpled note and watched as he scanned it, reading every word carefully.
His was sat on the edge of his seat and sighed, his elbows resting on his knees. He said nothing.
"Please, I need answers" I begged, "I have nothing left, I need to understand"
Snape nodded and passed the note back to me, "I understand how you feel but, at the moment, I can't help you"
My face scrunched up as tears leaked, "I've lost my only family, everyone knows more about my life than me!"
"Soon, I promise"
I sighed, staying silent for a while before looking up at him, "You're my Godfather, right?"
He nodded, speaking no words.
"How?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper.
Snape stayed silent for a while before speaking, "I was one of your fathers closest friends, when your mother found out she was pregnant with you, your father asked me to be the Godfather. As is common, should anything happen to you, I was to watch over you; however, at the time, I was unavailable and such you were passed onto Silus," He stood from the chair and turned away from me, his hands behind his back.
"You are to stay here for the foreseeable" He stated, "But this must be kept quiet, speak of it to no one"
I nodded, once again my life was about to get lonely, after having only just found a family I felt I belonged with, I was going to have to lie to their faces.
"There is a spare room which I think you will find suitable, I shall collect your things later--" A loud knock at the door disturbed him, causing him to utter that I go upstairs quickly.
I rushed up the stairs and reached the top, finding myself in a hallway. Like most of the house, it was dark and dull and completely reflected the entire of the street as well as the house. There were 3 doors, all labelled. One labelled, 'bathroom, another labelled, 'master bed-room' and the final one was labelled 'Spare-room', but there was something written under it.
There was a muffled voice from downstairs, "May we come in?"
"Of course," I heard Snape's plain voice say, as I heard the door close as the footsteps moved.
I walked closer to the, 'spare-bedroom,' and read the small writing. It said: 'Olivia's room'. The writing looked old, as if it had been there a while.
"Do you have guests?" I heard the man from earlier ask. I knew I should've been hidden away by now, but I was taking my time to get used to my new surroundings.
"No," Snape answered simply.
"Good, Draco, leave us" A loud voice said clearly, then a door slammed. Draco and his Father, I should have known, wherever darkness is, they are sure to follow.
In a panic, I opened the door to my room and closed it quietly behind me.
To my surprise it was decorated fit for a child, a small bookshelf stood, pressed against the wall, a few children's books scattered on the shelf. The bed was a double bed, dressed in plain white coverings. The walls were painted a light pink, it was as if this had been decorated for me when I was little. A small desk sat next to the door, little toys sat on it and one that I seemingly recognised. It was a small, hand carved dragon, I seemed to remember having one when I was little, I did not know how old I was in this memory, but I was certain this was the same little dragon.
The room was a pleasant surprise, but offered me more questions.
I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. Not loud ones though; soft ones.
I didn't know what to do, or how to react. I heard muttering and fumbling with the doorknob as I backed into the wardrobe. The door opened, revealing Draco. His face fell when he saw me, looking back at him with shock.
"Wales?" Draco spat.
"Sh!" I hushed him quickly, rushing past him to shut the door.
Draco moved away to look at me, "What are you doing here?" He hissed.
I sighed, "It's a long story -- Silus is dead..." I muttered.
"I'm sorry," He said, his tone actually sounding sincere.
I nodded, "I suspect that your Father already knows" I mumbled, sitting on the bed.
Draco sat beside me, "What did Silus tell you?" He asked.
I shook my head, "Yet again, nothing. I don't know anything. He mentioned something to do with looking after me originally was his duty, but I don't know what it means"
He looked at me with sad eyes, "I don't know what's safe to tell you, truth be told, I only know a little, you're intertwined with my family somehow, and you're important, but that's all I know, I'm sorry"
"I guess some things will never change" I sighed,
"What do you mean?" He asked with a raised brow.
"Everyone will always know more about me, than me"
We sat, saying nothing until Draco's father finally broke the silence, shouting at him to come on.
He stood up, heading over to the door before glancing back at me, "See you later, Wales,"
