It was night time and Kyo was training HARD. It had been several days since the confrontation with Riser and Kyo hadn't eaten or slept. Sirzechs had approved of Kyo taking on Riser's peerage solo, but Riser wanted it to be on his home turf. 

Riser also wanted the wedding to be that day as well. Otherwise the game was called off. Riser was so confident that if he won, the wedding would come right after and Riser would do it to mock it in Kyo's face. 

Kyo however wouldn't let that happen. Rias, while she was still hesitant, took Kyo and the rest of the ORC to distant training house that'd been built a while ago there to help train Kyo. It was late as Kyo throws the barbell to the ground, making a large crash as it hit the ground. So far, he'd been able to bench 400 lbs in several reps. Now he was practicing his dodge attacks with a machine that shot bean bags. 

Kyo flew in the air and smacked the balls away with his gauntlets. He then lets out a roar as he shoots down and splits the machine in half. Kyo was breathing hard and fell on one knee. 

His gauntlets then glowed. "Kyo, you've been training nonstop for days now. It is time to rest." 

Kyo shakes his head. "Not until I'm sure I've reached my full potential." 

"My son, you won't be able to reach anything if you don't rest and recharge yourself. How do you think you'll be able to fight Riser if you're absolutely exhausted?" Erakhan questions. 

Kyo pants and stands looking down at his masculine body. "Fine. Only for a few hours." Kyo then grabs his towel and wipes himself off. He heads inside and sees Rias walking down the steps in her nightgown. 

"Kyo?" 

"Hey." Kyo nods, still somewhat out of breath. 

Rias comes down and looks at him. "Been training, I see?" 

"I won't let Riser marry you out of force. We both know that peace isn't what he has in mind when it comes to you." Kyo states. 

Rias then takes his hand. "Come with me." Rias then leads Kyo outside to the railing as they look up at the stars. "Kyo, I appreciate how you stood up for me against Riser. I really do. But you must realize that Riser isn't just any opponent. He's never lost a Rating Game and his title fits his power." 

"What does that mean?" Kyo asks. 

"His ability is the same as the beast his family is named after." Rias explains. "Phoenix. Giving him immortality." 

Kyo looks up at the stars. "Immortality, huh?" 

Rias nods. "He's indestructible. He regenerates immediately from any attack. Riser's win/lose ratio is 8 to 2. His peerage has always had the highest score. How are you supposed to lose if you're immortal?" 

Kyo ponders this and then turns to her. "He WILL lose Rias. Time to show that cocky bastard where his place is. You shouldn't have to be forced into a marriage that you don't want. Just like I didn't have to get forced into torturous sex and brutality by my family." 

Rias then remembers Kyo telling her of his past. "Kyo...I am so sorry." 

"For what?" 

"For being involved with me. Sometimes I wonder if maybe you joining us was a bad decision. It's not you, but just everything you've had to face head on because of us." Rias says holding her arm. "I just don't want to see you hurt." 

Kyo holds her shoulders. "You won't. I promise you: I will never fail to protect you or anyone in the ORC. You, Issei, Asia, Akeno, Kiba, and Koneko are my family. And I'll protect every single one of you for the rest of my life." 

"Why? You've done but get yourself in danger because of us. Why protect us? Why protect and fight for me?" Rias asks. 

Kyo smiles. "Because I love you." Rias gasps as Kyo then leaves without another word. Kyo enters his room and falls on the bed. His brow furrows and then he sits up. "Father?" 

"Yes, Kyo?" 

"Is there any way to make me more powerful?" Kyo inquires. 

"There is a way. But are you prepared to sacrifice anything in order to gain the extra power you seek?" 

"Whatever it takes, I'll do it. And I think Asia might be able to help too..."

The day had come. Riser and his peerage were ready and so was Kyo. Rias however was in a separate part of the household as she looked at herself shamefully at the dress she was forced to wear.

"(Sigh) This is a Rating Game. So why the hell am I in a wedding dress?" Rias questions looking at herself in the mirror. 

"Because Riser wanted it." Riser says as he appears in the room. "Just look at that dress, you really are a beautiful bride, my love." 

"I am not your bride and I am not your love." Rias scowls. 

Riser nods. "True, not yet you aren't but once Riser demolishes your dragon servant, you will be mine." Riser then disappears, making Rias worry for Kyo.

Kyo stood on the battlefield and summoned his gauntlets. "Game on." The first to show were Riser's eight pawns. 

"Alright, who's first?!" Kyo shouts. Two of Riser's pawns then jump in the air and dual kick downward at Kyo only form him to disappear and split kick them away. Four more pawns then run full speed at Kyo as he takes them down with a dragon blast. 

"DEATH DRAGON DARK BLAST!" Kyo then sends a ball of energy that blows them away and makes them sprawl, bruised and beaten. The last two pawns then link arms and one throws the other at Kyo at great speed. Kyo crosses his gauntlets and blocks the attack before grabbing the girl and throwing her back at her partner, knocking them out cold. 

"Riser's pawns retired." Grayfia announces. 

Kyo watches as the pawns disappear and smirks. ~Just warming up.~ 

"Don't get cocky, Kyo. You may be powerful, but do not become prideful. Think tactically and view your opponents stances as they attack. That will give you the advantage to see an opening." 

Kyo nods. "Got it." 

Riser's two bishops then appear. Kyo could smell something weird about the blonde one. ~She's got a scent that's similar to Riser's. Must be his sister. Doesn't mean I'll hold back.~ 

The two bishops then send waves of energy at Kyo, making him slide and dodge the attacks around the arena. 

Kyo then jumps up and charges his own attack. "DEATH DRAGON EXPLOSION!" 

Kyo looks to see that one of the bishops was roasted and Riser's sister was smoking as well. They both then disappear. 

"Riser's bishops retired." 

Riser's knights then appear and take out their swords. Kyo cracks his neck and gets in a defensive stance. They then charge and Kyo dodges their attacks. 

Kyo then takes one of the knights' swords and puts it on his back before kicking them both back. Kyo takes the sword and says, "MERGE!" 

The sword then becomes white and attaches itself to Kyo's left gauntlet. 

"Try this on for size!" Kyo then charges and sends a large blast with his newly acquired sword. 

The knights then get sent into the air, allowing Kyo then to summon his wings and fly up. He grabs them both by the head and smashes them to the ground. 

"Riser's knights retired." 

Kyo smashes his fists together in satisfaction. "I'm real pumped now." 

Riser's rooks then appear and eye Kyo. Kyo makes the first move and charges, jumping up and smashing the ground. The rooks dodge and both strike Kyo with equal force, blowing him back. 

Kyo slides back on his knees, spitting a bit of blood. "Not bad." One rook then charges at Kyo and starts attacking him with various punches. 

Kyo then catches her fist and kicks her into the pillar behind him. 

"One rook retired." 

Kyo turns towards the other and catches her flying kick and throws her to the ground. "DEATH DRAGON INCURSION!" 

"Last rook retired." 

Kyo pants and falls on one knee. 

"You're tiring out, boy." Riser laughs over the speaker. "Just give up already! It is pointless to continue to fight when you have no strength." 

"Shut up, Flame Boy!" Kyo grunts standing. "Is still have a few tricks up my sleeve that I will use on you! So send your queen already so I can fight you!"  

Riser's queen Yubellana then appears. "I commend you Death Dragon. But you will go no further after fighting me!" Yubellana sends a blast of purple energy at him that Kyo dodges and flies into the air. 

Kyo's wings then glow red as he then shouts, "DEATH DRAGON WING ATTACK!" Kyo spins and sends large wave of red at Yubellana that envelopes her makes her scream in agony as her clothes get torn. Yubellana collapses and disappears. 

"Riser's queen retired." 

Kyo descends and pants. ~Damn. I'm running low on power. But I still have several cards up my sleeve.~ 

Riser then appears and claps. "Well done. I am impressed. And I'm RARELY impressed. But this is where you will lose, boy." 

Kyo then grins. "No, Riser. This is where I get you!" 

"DEATH DRAGON BALANCE BREAKER!"

(BALANCE BREAKER TRANSFORMATION MUSIC) 

Rias and the others were shocked. "The Balance Breaker?!" Kyo then stands in black and red scale armor. 

"FILTHY BRAT!" Riser yells as he summons his wings of fire and shoots into the sky. Kyo takes off after him as they clash in the air. 

Riser then sends a wave of fire at Kyo, making him blast it away. 

Kyo then punches Riser in the stomach before yelling, "DEATH DRAGON ROOOOOOAR!" 

Riser gets blown to the ground and struggles to get up. Kyo then shoots down and kicks him away. 

Riser gets up and they both charge, hitting each other in the face. Kyo spits out blood, as Riser just laughs. "You're pathetic!" 

The Phoenix then coughs blood. "This pain! Wait, IS THAT A CROSS?!" 

Kyo then holds up a cross in his right hand. "Our bishop was a member of the church. So I decided to borrow it." 

"This is impossible! Even wearing your dragon armor shouldn't stop that thing from destroy- WAIT! You gave that dragon your arm didn't you?!" 

"Both arms to be exact!" Kyo then punches Riser with the cross again. 

Riser coughs and looks at Kyo. "Stop this, you fool! This engagement is for the benefit of all devils! I mere servant like you has no business interfering with problems of your betters!" 

Kyo then grabs Riser by his collar. "I don't give a damn! Can't you see that?! Rias and the ORC are the only things that matter to me! And I promised that I would protect them! AND I KEEP MY PROMISES!" 

Kyo then sends another roar of darkness at Riser, making his clothes tear and collapse to the ground. 

"Don't hurt him!" Riser's sister then appears and stands in front of the dragon armored devil. 

Kyo then sees that Riser has had enough. "Hmph, fine. But I won't hesitate to end him the next time. Know that, sister of Phoenix." 

"The battle is over. Kyo Najasaki has won!" Sirzechs announces. 

Kyo then deactivates his balance breaker and falls as the arena disappears. He is then caught and looks to see Issei with his devil wings along with Koneko, Kiba, and Akeno. 

"Way to rock the house!" Akeno giggles. 

"You totally nailed it!" Kiba adds. 

Issei puts Kyo's arm over his shoulder. "That's my bro, for ya." 

"KYO!" Kyo looks and sees Rias flying up with tears in her eyes. Issei lets Kyo drop and fall into her arms. 

"Hey, Rias." Kyo grunts with a smile. 

Rias sniffles. "Kyo, you just saved my life. Thank you!"

Outside in the courtyard, a Griffin then appears. Kyo rubs its beak as it leans into him. 

"Isn't he cute?" Akeno says. "Well Kyo, since you saved the day it's only fair that you ride with Rias." 

"Fine by me." Kyo helps Rias onto the Griffin before hopping on himself and taking off.

Sirzechs and Grayfia look up at the sky and watch as Kyo and Rias fly off. 

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Sirzechs says. "I had that Griffin ready in case they needed to make a last minute escape." 

"Thank goodness it didn't come to that. We would've had quite the mess to clean up." Grayfia points out. 

"I wouldn't worry too much. Such a shame though, for such an engagement to fall apart like this." 

Grayfia nods. "Yes, you're right. It's very sad. You look devastated." 

"It's truly amazing." Sirzechs breathes. "The fact that the Black Dragon Emperor of Death and Darkness would come over to our side." 

"It's seems very likely that Kyo's brother will likely encounter the Vanishing One. The White Dragon, soon." Grayfia says.

"Man, what a view." Kyo says in awe. Rias touches his cheek. "What's a matter?" 

"Silly boy." Rias then touches his gauntlets. "To give up your arms just for me." 

"It's like I said before, I keep my promises." Kyo states. "No matter what cost it takes." 

Rias sighs. "Kyo look, the engagement may be over now, but I promise you this isn't the last we'll hear of it. Not by any means." 

"Then I'll give up my legs and my voice too. I told you before, I love you and I promise to save you for the rest of time-" Kyo gets cut off as Rias kisses him. 

Kyo was shocked at first but melts into the kiss. Rias parts and looks at him. "I love you too, Kyo. You should probably know, that was my first kiss." Kyo just stays awestruck before sliding off the Griffin. "KYO!" 

Kyo then spreads his dragon wings and zooms into the air. "I LOOOOOOOVE BEING A DRAGON!" Kyo zooms all over the sky in joy.

Later, Rias and Asia had moved in with Issei and Kyo. After that, Akeno and Asia were busy trying to heal Kyo's arms. 

Kyo looks at Rias as they both smile at one another. ~I promise to protect the people I love. Forever. No matter what it takes.~
