One Day, On An Unknown Planet's Moon

(Yellow)"You were told to be prepared cycles ago. There will be no more excuses. Get it done. And don't expect me to look kindly upon this transgression. Embark at once."

(Nephrite)"B-But my Diamond, the planet has or-"

(Yellow)"Yes I know there's organic life on the surface, it's an invasion."

(Nephrite)"Yes, but-"

(Yellow)"You will stick to my orders and you will destroy them!"

(Nephrite)"I'm not saying I won't, but couldn't we go at this another way?"

(Yellow)"No. I will not repeat myself."

(Nephrite)"...Alright, I will drop the subject. I forgot that organics could pose a threat to the colonization."

(Yellow)"Well, you'll have to remember, won't you?"

(Nephrite)"Yes..."

(Yellow)"The dullness of this exchange tires me. Just land the dropships and do your pathetic job for once. Or I'll shatter you and your crew myself!"

(Nephrite)"Y-Yes my Diamond!"

The transmission ended, and the Diamond feel back into her chair with a sigh of frustration.

(Black)"Having some trouble, Yellow?"

She jumped at the sudden sound, but quickly went back to her normal state of mind, a big, grumpy lady. I always found that funny.

(Yellow)"Black, what are you doing here? I'm busy right now."

(Black)"Can't I visit my big sister every once in a while? We don't talk that much anymore."

I had heard the term "siblings" on a planet a few years ago, and have been using it ever since. I call Yellow and Blue my older sisters, and White my mother. The last two don't mind, they kind of enjoy it, but Yellow seems to be annoyed by it, so I do it every time we meet.

(Yellow)"Well, couldn't you pick a better time? I'm trying colonize a planet."

Three yellow dropships flew past the base, and towards a planet in the distance.

(Black)"I noticed. Looks like your soldiers are having second thoughts."

(Yellow)"Yes, it's becoming more and more often, and irritating..."

I floated up, and sat down on her right shoulder. I looked over a screen she had up, which displayed a green bird-like creature.

(Black)"Is that the thing giving your Gems so much trouble?"

(Yellow)"Yes, one of them. They have similar abilities of Quartz soldiers."

(Black)"That a fact? I never thought that an organic could copy us."

(Yellow)"..."

(Black)"...So last month, I learned something I could do."

(Yellow)"Uh huh."

(Black)"There was this Gem in my court that broke the law, killed another Gem out of anger. When I was about to...fix that mistake, my hand shot out a purple light."

(Yellow)"Uhh huh."

(Black)"And when this light hit the Gem, which was a Quartz, she began to...change."

That seemed to get her attention, as she finally separated her eyes from the various screen around her to look at me.

(Yellow)"How so?"

(Black)"Well first, she started to grow spikes all over. Then, her hair engulfed her whole body. After that, she became some type of...mindless beast. She ran around the colony, wrecking everything in sight, almost killed a few."

(Yellow)"What happened after that?"

(Black)"I managed to destroy her form, and I put her gemstone in a bubble, then sent it to my room. It's now in my facility for the Cluster Gems. I'm thinking about calling it a 'Zoo'. I saw one in a planet not too long ago. They capture the lesser creatures, then put them on display for their young to point and laugh at."

(Yellow)"What about that Gem?"

(Black)"Oh right, she still hasn't returned to normal, I think it's permanent. I was able to check the data on her gemstone, and it's all scrambled up, probably just as bad as being shattered. I call it, 'Corruption'."

Yellow had a certain look in her eye, one that indicated that she was in deep thought. Her diamond-shaped pupils fixated on me, only on me.

(Yellow)"Black?"

(Black)"Yeah?"

(Yellow)"Could you do me a favor?"

(Black)"Sure, what's that?"

(2 Weeks Later, Homeworld)

(Yellow's Pearl)"Do you have an appointment with our Diamond?"

(Nephrite)"U-U-Uh...Y-Yes...?"

(Yellow's Pearl)"Well? Do you, or do you not?!"

(Nephrite)"Yes! Yes I do!"

(Yellow's Pearl)*Sigh*"Then which Gem are you?"

(Nephrite)"N-Nephrite Facet-XJ C-Cut-762..."

(Yellow's Pearl)"I swear, if you keep up with this stuttering, we'll be here all day!"

(Nephrite)"Nephrite Facet-XJ Cut-762!"

(Yellow's Pearl)"Finally! You were supposed to be here two minutes ago!"

The two Gems entered the room, where yellow sat, along with several, black jars with red lids. This had never been seen before. If a Gem needed to contain something, they'd just put it in a bubble.

(Yellow's Pearl)"My Diamond, this Gem has a scheduled appointment with you, and you should know that they gave me a lot of trouble with-"

(Yellow)"Which Gem is it?"

(Nephrite)"Nephrite Facet-XJ Cut-762..."

(Yellow)"Right...you're THAT one."

It was a miracle that her gemstone on her chest didn't crack from the sheer stress from being in a Diamond's presence. When her captain mysteriously disappeared, she and the rest of her crew were moved to a lower position, making it more rare to even be mentioned by such important people.

(Yellow)"Do you know why I have brought you here?"

(Nephrite)"N-No, my Diamond, I do not."

(Yellow)"Well, whatever you may be hoping, it's wrong. Recently, I have received an influx of complaints from your manager. She says that your attitude and work ethic has been, declining, to say the least. Furthermore, she has also reported that you have been saying things in secret. What exactly have you been saying?"

(Nephrite)"W-Well...I, uh, was just..."

(Yellow)"I asked you a question, so you should respond instead of whispering!"

(Nephrite)""I-I was just thinking about the planets we've been colonizing! They almost always have life already on them, and I felt like it is kinda a bad thing to-

(Yellow)"Stop. I simply cannot understand you if you babble like that. Perhaps you aren't taking this seriously? In that case, you're only making this worse for yourself."

(Nephrite)"I-I apologize, my Diamond! I'm just so nervous, I never thought in a billion years I would be in your presence, and-"

(Yellow)"Pitiful. You are embarrassing yourself with these excuses. Nothing you have said so far has changed my mind on the matter, however, from what I understand, this is your first offense. Something must be done to ensure I never have to deal with this again."

She turned her attention to the black jars, and began to shake them one by one.

(Yellow)"Which one of these contains...?"

The sound coming from each one made Nephrite flinch each time it broke the silence, they didn't sound full, whatever was in each one was most likely near the bottom. There was at least 7 of these jars, all lined up neatly atop a newly built shelf.

Nephrite noticed the Pearl. She had this strange look on her face, like she knew exactly what was in each jar, and how the pilot would react to finding out.

(Yellow)"Hmm......no, not this one.....no......not this one either....ah, there we are."

She took the 6th jar from the shelf, opened it, and lowered it to Nephrite, who couldn't see what the contents were unless she leaned forward to get a better view.

(Nephrite)"U-Um...wh-what do you want me to do...?"

(Yellow)"Put your hand inside this jar, get a good feel around it."

(Nephrite)"Y-Yes...my Diamond..."

She hesitantly moved her hand into the jar, and when it reached the bottom...something felt sharp. She slowly moved her hand around, and the nosies that came out sounded like when you sweep up broken glass. If she looked down now, she had a plain view, but she dared not look anywhere else that wasn't Yellow's face. Her knees threatened to buckle down and stop working, but she had to do this.

(Yellow)"See? You're not in any pain, everything's fine. What do you feel?"

At this point, she didn't try to make up an excuse, she could only say what she knew.

(Nephrite)"I...I am really scared..."

(Yellow)"Scared? No, no, I mean what you're feeling in this jar. Go ahead, guess."

She didn't want to guess. She just wanted to stop, go back to her crew, and never speak of this event for the rest of existence.

(Nephrite)"I...I-I can't...I just can't..."

(Yellow)"You can't?...Do you want me to tell you what you're feeling? I mean, I will either way. Here's a hint, the contents should be quite familiar."

(Nephrite)"Please don't, please don't...just don't! I don't want to know, please!"

(Yellow)"I'll tell you...it's a fellow Gem."

She stopped moving her hand. She tried to take her hand out but accidentally pulled the jar out of Yellow's hand. It didn't break, but the contents fell out. There were 27 pieces in total. They were all green, with some having black lines...it was another Nephrite.

(Yellow)"Oh my, silly you, you spilled it everywhere."

(Nephrite)"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean it, truly! L-Let me clean up this mess!"

She couldn't hold back anymore. Her face was now soaked with tears as she picked up each individual shard.

(Yellow)"Yes, this was another Nephrite, and quite the troublemaker. She was the first of her type to give me any sort of backlash. Especially...2 months ago."

It then hit her like a crashing ship. The Nephrite that went missing, her old captain, this was her. She remembered years ago, her and the others would talk about her. No enemy was able to sneak up on her, and since her gemstone was on her back, they used to theorize that it was a second eye. Now, here she is, just a bunch of shards, probably going to be used in another one of Black Diamond's experiments.

(Yellow)"And if you're wondering, those shards are now drained of their energy."

(Nephrite)"Y-You mean...?"

(Yellow)"That's right, she's gone for good."

This caused her to cry even more, trying not to ball up right there. Finally, she put the shards back into the container, where it was set back on the shelf.

(Yellow)"Never embarrass yourself again, I'd hate to make you another example. Make sure you tell the others what you have seen, so that they don't misbehave. Do you understand?"

(Nephrite)"..."

(Yellow)"I said...do. I . Make. Myself. Clear?"

(Nephrite)"...Yes...my...Diamond."

(Yellow)"Good, then go back to work."

(Nephrite)"Yes, my Diamond..."

As she left, one thing was in her mind. One simple sentence. Three short words.

(Nephrite)"I...HATE you!"
