(Earth, months before the arrival of Slap Trap)

Gems are born fully grown, knowing exactly what they are made to do, and how to use their powers. Steven, however, isn't able to fully control, or outright use his abilities since he was part Human.

One day, the Gems were going on a special mission to restore the Lunar Sea Spire, which was once a Crystal Gem base of sorts during the war.

The Gems were going to restore it themselves, but Steven insisted on helping. On the same day, he received a backpack in the shape of a cheeseburger, and wanted to prove his worth.

(Steven)"Woah, the Sea Spire!"

(Bismuth)"Geez, it didn't look this bad last time we checked."

(Garnet)"I'm sensing structural instability."

(Hematite)"That's not good. Let's hurry before it falls apart even more."

They made their way towards the spire, but came to an abrupt halt when they reached the cliff.

(Amethyst)"What's the hold-up? We can clear this easily!"

(Garnet)"No. The magnetic field that sustains the whirlpool creates a vortex that will pull us below."

(Lapis)"I could just fly across."

Two masses of water sprouted from her gemstone, and she started to float over the gape, only to be pulled down. Amethyst summoned her weapon, a whip, and caught her by the ankle.

(Lapis)"Ok, this is going to be harder than I thought. What now?"

(Hematite)"We could find a big enough boulder, or-"

(Steven)"Oh wait!"

He reached into his backpack, and took out several sweaters.

(Amethyst)"What are those for?"

(Steven)"They were for keeping warm, *Ties them together* but check it out."

He threw one end around a pillar, and with a deep breath, he jumped.

(Gems)"Steven!"

He was getting pulled down, but with his pure strength, he managed to get up and over the ledge.

(Hematite)"Hey, it worked!"

He stretched his arm around the pillar, and did the same, followed by Amethyst, holding the others while she was at it.

(Inside the Spire)

(Amethyst)"Man, this place is more janked up on the inside."

(Bismuth)"Shame to see my work like this."

(Steven)"You built this place?"

(Bismuth)"Well, not just me. There was a whole bunch of Bismuths here, working day and night building hallways and statues for the higher class Gems to walk around talk about how great they are, but that changed during the war!"

(Amethyst)"Guys, we got a problem."

In the room laid dozens of small blue creatures.

(Steven)"What are they?"

(Hematite)"Crystal Shrimp. Some creatures on this planet sorta changed when...the war ended."

(Steven)"Can't we just squish 'em?"

He was about to step on one, but the clown Gem pulled him back.

(Hematite)"The wouldn't do that if I were you, those spikes on their backs are dangerous, even for Gems. We're gonna need a better way to get past, this is the only way to the top."

(Lapis)"Why don't we just break through the ceiling and fly up then?"

(Garnet)"If we cause anymore damage, the Spire may collapse immediately. We should go back and-"

(Steven)"BAGEL SANDWICH!"

Steven took two bagel sandwiches out of his backpack, then threw them on each side of the room. The shrimp proceed to eat them, leaving a clear path for the Gems.

(Garnet)"Brilliant."

(Amethyst)"Oh hey, what do you know."

(Lapis)"How did you know that would work?"

(Steven)"Well, if I were a shrimp, that's what I would do."

The next challenge for the Crystal Gems was waiting for them upstairs. A wall had collapsed, letting a small river flow out and block their path. But, this was an issue Steven wasn't required for. Lapis simply carried him over, and the other Gems were strong enough to jump across.

Finally, they made it to the top, where the moon was just about to be right under the pedestal.

(Hematite)"Here we are, and not a second too late. The moon's almost above us!"

(Garnet)"Steven, the statue."

He reached in, and after a second of panic, he pulled out the Moon Goddess Statue, which when placed on the pedestal, will restore the spire for another 6,000 years.

(Steven)"Here it is! I thought I forgot to bring it, wouldn't that be something?"

(Hematite)"Excellent! And sense he was able to get us all this far, I believe that he should have the honor."

(Bismuth)"I think he's earned it."

(Amethyst)"Go for it, Little Man!"

With stars in his eyes, he triumphantly placed the statue on the pedestal, just as the moon moved in the proper place. A blue pillar of light shot from the pedestal, and the statue's gemstones caused the light to engulf the entire construct. Stones floated from the ocean depths and returned to their original spots, cracked and shattered statues looked like they were never touched, and all of the Crystal Shrimp fell to the bottom of the ocean, where they'll survive on smaller sea creatures from now on.

The Lunar Sea Spire was restored.

(Lapis)"I never got to see the inside like this before the war. It's...beautiful."

(Bismuth)"Too bad the others can't see it like this, but hey, it's 'Bismuth' as usual!"

She tends to make jokes like that.

(Garnet)"Let's not forget that it was all possible with the help of Steven."

(Steven)"I shouldn't take all the credit, none of this would have been possible without the help of Cheeseburger Backpack!"

They all laughed, and made their way home.

(Hematite)"Hehehe.../Wrong, this place would be in the ocean if it wasn't for me! Your puny Human mind forgot and left the damn statue on your bed, and I placed it in your bag while we were in the Warp. I'm the only one capable getting things done right, but I'm forced to work with you fools until I get the chance to leave, which won't be too long now...hope you're ready Black, cuz I know I'm ready for ya!"
