During Black Diamond's final attack, almost every single Gem was corrupted into animalistic beast...ALMOST every Gem.

Thankfully for Rose Quartz, Hematite arrived just in time to rescue her and the destabilized Garnet, and bring her to a special fountain she had built with water altered by her healing tears, so that Gems could be fixed if she wasn't around.

Another survivor of the Corrupting Light was Bismuth, who was busy in her forge, and was completely unaware of what waited for her when she came out.

After traveling the planet for more survivors, they found a strange mirror with a cracked gemstone on the back. Once they removed it, a damaged Lapis Lazuli reformed. She told them that during the war, she had no part in it, but was attacked by a Crystal Gem, and Homeworld mistook her as a rebel, placing her in the mirror to get information. During the evacuation, an escaping Gem stepped on her, damaging her gem in the process.

So, with some convincing, she joined Rose and her companions, as well as healing her gemstone. Now all that was left was to collect the Corrupted Gems, and find some way to reverse the changes. Rose's tears only worked halfway, and they would always revert back to their animal form.

(In the Prime Kindergarten)

Some Corrupted Gem with a blue flower was promptly cut down by Bismuth's hand blade, poofing it instantly.

(Bismuth)"That makes, what? The thousandth one?"

(Hematite)"The hundred thousandth one."

He took the gemstone, and transported it back to the temple. During the war, Rose found a place near the ocean,and created a large temple in the shape of a fusion of herself, and Hematite, the strongest fusion in said war.

(Rose)"How could this happened...? How could Black commit such an atrocity?"

(Hematite)"Hey, don't beat yourself up over it, Rose. We couldn't save everyone with an attack that big."

The Quartz looked at her reflection from a deactivated Injector, on the verge of tears.

(Rose)"He could have just let us be...but, he wanted to have the last laugh..."

Garnet was now in the reflection, and placed a hand on her shoulder for comfort.

(Garnet)"It's okay, Rose. We both knew that this was a possibility, and that means there's a strong possibility we'll be able to restore our friends."

(Rose)"...That's right, thank you, Garnet."

The moment was interrupted by Lapis, who had been flying around the area for any Corrupted Gems.

(Lapis)"Hey guys! There's another Gem! An Amethyst!"

(Hematite)"Let me guess, corrupted?"

(Lapis)"No! This one's normal!"

(Rose)"What?!"

Without waiting for the others, Rose ran as fast as she could to the area Lapis was searching in. As soon as everyone else caught up, he was now watching something from behind a large stone. In the distance, they couldn't believe their eyes. There she was, an Amethyst, but there was something different.

The most visible difference was her height. Unlike normal Quartzes which towered over most, she would barely reach their knees. Her hair was shorter, and instead of the normal uniform, she had clothes similar to a Human child. She was looking into the exit holes one by one, she must be looking for the long gone Gems.

(Garnet)"Strange, why is she so...small?"

(Hematite)"She must've been in the ground for too long."

(Bismuth)"What should we do?"

(Rose)"Go say hi."

She left her hiding spot, and the Amethyst immediately caught sight of her. Rose put on a friendly face, although it was difficult to tell the difference between it and her normal one, and began to speak.

(Rose)"Hello there, little one. My name is Rose Quar-"

The small Gem suddenly jumped into her arms, nearly knocking her to the ground.

(Amethyst)"Finally! I'm not alone anymore!"

(Rose)"Alone?"

(Amethyst)"I've been looking around here for...forever! I knew there was somebody else here, I just knew it!"

Seeing this as an appointment time, Hematite, then Bismuth, ending with Garnet and Lapis, made their existence known to this Gem, who's face lit up with excitement.

(Amethyst)"There's even more?! This is the best day ever!"

(Bismuth)"Wow, never thought I'd see a small Quartz!"

(Garnet)"Never thought I'd see one so...harmless. Like a child."

(Hematite)"Just wondering but, do you remember what happened? Why are you out here alone?"

(Amethyst)"I don't know, I just... popped out of the ground!"

(Hematite)"Not how I felt. Like I was being choked to death, he didn't tell me THAT."

(Rose)"Amethyst, would you like to come live with us? You can stay in our home."

The tiny Quartz let out an exaggerated gasp,and white stars appeared in her eyes.

(Amethyst)"REALLY?!"

(Rose)"Haha, of course. Well, let's go home, we've all had a long day."

(Hematite)"...You guys go on ahead, I'll catch up later. I'm gonna give this place another once over in case we've missed anything."

(Rose)"Oh? Alright, don't take to long then."

He waited until they were all out of sight before walking back to the boulder they hid behind. He pushed it to the side, revealing a large hole. He jumped down and was in a chamber with green tubes all around.

(Hematite)"Ok Boss, let's find out what you wanted me to see..."

During the evacuation, he had hoped to aquire a Homeworld ship,but none on the planet were operational anymore. He was then told to find the Prime Kindergarten Control Room.

He placed his hand on the pedestal at the far end, and the room came to live. Several screens with data on Cluster Gems appeared, hundreds even.

(Hematite)"Huh? What am I supposed to do with this?"

But then, a massive screen in the front opened. It displayed a massive ball of melted gemstones somewhere on Earth, deep underground. It was some time of simulation, and it began to shape into a vague humanoid, becoming so large, that the Earth will be destroyed.

(Hematite)"...So, this is what what I need? Hm, lovely..."
