Because She Had Rights.
There you were,
You were labeled a mistake and unwanted,
By the woman you were inside of.
So she got you out, before your time...
Because she thought she had the right.
She took everything from you,
Thoughts,
Emotions,
Sights,
Memories.
The first dance with Daddy, you would've never forgotten.
Your first crush, and feeling butterflies around them.
But she took them away...
Because she thought she had the right.
She stopped your heart,
One last beating heard.
The final sound,
Movement,
Sign of life...
Because she thought she had the right.
But a right for murder?
How IS it right?
For an innocent life, to be killed?
You didn't do anything to deserve it,
You, to God, were perfect.
And...
One last question, little one...
Didn't you have rights too?
Dear readers, this is a poem about abortion, which is very sensitive to me and I know it is to others too. I wanted to right something very personal, and hopefully moving. It is set as I am speaking to the dead child after the abortion, talking about the "mother". I hope this was moving to someone out there,
Stay awesome...
