Haunting Of The Black Cat
I sighed, it came more as a breathy snort in my new body. I scanned the room, it was encased in a black silence, aside from the snores coming from the bed, where a lump slept under refreshing sheets. I would've slept there but my pride wouldn't allow it.
I heard a fluttering, and then a tapping... Similar to glass. My hackles rose as I stood on my four legs, I was in the middle of the room. I looked and saw a raven, it was large and I got a feeling of familiarity with it.
My heart rate picked up as I realized, it was the same raven I saw before waking up in this body. My vision started blurring, I shook my head to clear it and saw I wasn't in Daniel's room anymore.
I was in an endless void of purple fog, and black hands emerging from the ground and trying to reach me, I hissed and felt relief that they could never quite reach me.
In this void there was no sky, no ground, nothing here but me, the hands, and the raven.
In this world - if you could call it that - I could see the raven's eyes were red, and it was eerily large.
Then the unexpected, the raven cackled, slowly at first but it grew in noise and hysteria, the laugh was feminine and horrifying.
"The black cat sings of her woes~" the raven sang happily
"The black cat is not aware of her foes~
the black cat should watch her back,
because soon enough we'll have her back~!" the raven finished, cackling all the while.
My heart constricted and had I been human perspiration would have been like a second skin by now.
I stared at the ground, my head was feverishly pounding, just as I felt like I was on the verge of remembering something I felt a hand seize me, pulling me.
Instead of slamming into the ground I felt myself be pulled into the endless void, it felt like being submerged into a bowl of jelly, I coughed and breathed in, only to choke on the lack of air.
Panic surged through me, I flailed, my black paws scratching for something, anything and all I felt was the endless feeling of suffocating on nothing, of being crushed to death in nothing.
Fear blinding me as I wailed loudly, the tortured sound being muffled by the body-less hands. I felt the hands once again constrict around me and I heard a crack, next I felt blinding pain.
Then, nothing.
I couldn't open my eyes, but air painfully slid into my lungs. The feeling was familiar, and I felt my body was splayed out somewhere cold, my eyes just barely cracked open, however it was enough for me to understand that I was somewhere cold.
All I could see was white, and all I could do was pray that I would die painlessly.
Then again, that was all I could ever do.
