Age

It is hard to tell, many say he is a few hundred years, while others say he is only a few years old. It is even harder to tell seeing as he takes on the shape of a child when in human form.

Personality

Rito is the definition of what you expect a kitsune to be, mischevious and cunning, the fox spirit is a playful and lively being that abselutely loves to cause mayhem in the lives of the mortals he guards over. But what he does have that makes him even more annoying is the fact he can be a lazy bastard at times, more often then not seeing napping or just laying about minding his own business.

Even so, while he might love to prank and mess around, he is cunning and loyal, taking his duties seriously and would use every trick and tactic in mind to get what he wants, not loking it if someone harasses 'his' mortals other then him, even though he doesn't hold any particular love for humans, it is more along the lines of his pride being questioned if he alowed some bandits to harm the people around him. And he can be a bit of a greedy little brat, if he sees something shiny he likes he will do anything to get his hands on it, be it stealing, bargening or tricking into the owner to give it to him...

Backstory

Not much is known about the kitsune, other then the fact that locals say he has been around for as long as they could remember, some say he is a guardian of their village and temple, while others claim him a demon sent to one day punish them. To which Rito finds amusing, seeing as he was in reality neither, he was just around as he liked the quiet and 'normality' of the village, even if it was boring sometimes, it motivated him to 'liven' the village up with pranks and other tricks of mayhem.

The first thing Rito can say he remember was a den, under a beautiful sakura tree, it was his old home, where he asume his mother gave birth to him. But he can't remember to have met either if his parents, being alone for as far as he knows. He grew up learning his skills, hiding about and stealing to survive, until one day some villagers realized what he was, and claimed him a demon. They started to hunt him down, a small mob gathering with spears, knives and torches.

Rito had to flee the town, and he traveled for some time, until he stopped in another small village, which was being harassed by a small group of thugs. He noticed that a young shinto priestess from the local temple was being cornered by three of the thugs, clutching a small golden statue in her hands. Annoyed by the thugs, Rito had decided to scare them off, using his natural skill of illusions to scare them off. The priestess had been so grateful of his act of kindness, even when Rito denied her claim and said he simply wanted to silence the annoying voice of the bandits.

The priestess was determined and convinced that Rito was an act of the Kami sent to help her in the time of need, so to show her thanks she made the temple make a statue of him in his kitsune form in the main yard of the temple, to make the people see that he was a guardian of the good rather then a being of chaos. Rito was a bit baffled by the pure sould of the priestess, but the kindess she showed touched him, so after learning her name he promsied to look after her descendants for as long as they walked this earth.
