70. One big family
Olivia
Three months later
I stared at my reflection in the mirror. I saw a different woman. I knew I had changed both physically and emotionally within the span of a year, from the time I met Logan up to this stage. I couldn't be thankful enough. I had a good set of people in my life and a caring, loving husband like Logan.
Words couldn't express how grateful I was for having him in my life. Every day was a new discovery of him. Our love grew stronger with each passing day. And then came our little prince, Tristan. My eyes traveled to his sleeping figure on the bed. Three months had gone by so fast. Logan was actually serious when he said he'd pamper him. That was exactly what he did. Sometimes, I used to feel guilty when he stayed awake with me as we tried to put Tristan to sleep at night. But Logan would still insist that he doesn't mind. He wanted to be there for me and our baby.
As for the family, they showed immense support too, especially Amelia, who made sure to check my health every week. She had turned into my personal doctor. The bond of the family had also grown stronger. We laughed and conversed at the dining table. No more strict orders. Father played around with his grandchildren. The once boring Nero household had turned bright. I knew I had done a great job. My efforts and determination hadn't gone to waste.
A knock sounded from the door, followed by Logan's head popping in. "Are you still not ready?" He asked as he stepped in. The family had organized a party with only family members. No one informed me about it. I woke up and found a bouquet of flowers on the bedside with a card. Later on, Amelia and Sarah came to the room with shopping bags that contained a new set of clothes. I literally got emotional and shed tears.
I was really taken by surprise because I knew how much money was spent on the last event, which was Tristan's baby shower three months ago. It was a memorable day that would forever be engraved in my heart. The way I was showered with love. Grandma also showed up. Logan was the one who made that possible. He didn't tell me about his plan. We shared laughter and joy. Logan's father and Grandma seemed to have reconciled, judging by how they bonded during the event.
"I'm done. I'm just reminiscing the past," I confessed. Logan wrapped his arms around me from behind and rested his head on my shoulder. I placed my hand atop his.
"What were you reminiscing about?" He hummed.
Logan broke free from the hug and spun me around. "You look breathtaking," he said, leaning forward to plant a kiss on my forehead. The gesture I had gotten used to and would never get tired of.
"Our journey together. And thank you. You're not looking bad yourself. How is the preparation going downstairs? Are all the family members ready? And I'm still angry at you for not telling me about the party. Not even a hint." I withdrew my hand and sat at the vanity mirror in fake anger.
His chuckle resonated in my ears. "I love it when you pout."
I whirled my head and threw him a glare. "Suits you well."
"Well, you better calm down. I know you're faking it. I had to play along with the family's plan. They want to surprise you."
"But we had a party before. I don't want to stress them out. You have done so much for me."
Logan folded his arms across his chest. "Are they complaining? Do I complain?" He reached for my hand and took them in his while also boring his eyes into me.
"I don't mind spending all my money on you and Tristan. You two are my responsibility. So, stop saying I have done so much. This is literally nothing. You deserve all the love. You have brought light into the family. Allow us to appreciate your effort for bringing light to the Nero household." He cupped my face and ran his thumb on my cheeks.
"Thank you for coming into my life, Logan," I said, melting into his touch.
"And thank you for giving me a priceless gift," he added, his eyes shifting towards Tristan. I followed suit.
"Look at how he's sleeping peacefully as if he isn't the same person that deprived us of our sleep at night."
Logan chuckled in return. "It'll get better. Let's head out before Amelia or Sarah follow us up and accuse us."
"Accuse us of what?" I raised a brow.
The smirk that dangled on his lips tells me he was going to say something naughty. I scooped Tristan in my arms. "For... You know...kissing or maybe—"
"Having sex," I completed for him. "Just say you want to kiss and have sex with me," I added.
"Don't let my devil show up. We'll end up not leaving the room." I grinned at the way his eyes darkened. I walked past him towards the door.
"You won't get it on a silver platter. You have to beg for it. See you downstairs." I waved. I didn't get to close the door when I felt his hand grab mine.
"Not when we are tied together. Everywhere you go, I follow."
We made our way downstairs. Soft music played in the background. The night was still young, and everyone was elegantly dressed. I shared a hug with Amelia and Sarah. Jamie and Brian were also invited. An idea suddenly formed in my head as I saw the two standing side by side. Amelia had taken Tristian from my hand. My son had won the family members' hearts, especially Amelia's. Maybe it was because of how much Quinn liked him; she calls him her little brother.
"What do you think about pairing Brian and Jamie?" I whispered to Logan as I pulled him to the side. He cast a look at their direction.
"I don't think it would work. Jamie will literally kill him. Brian has a big mouth," Logan answered.
"That would be interesting. Jamie also has a big mouth. They can kill each other. Let's pair them up," I nudged him on the arm.
"What do you want me to do now?"
"Get Brian on board. I will get Jamie on board from my side," I said before walking away towards Brian and Jamie.
"Thank you for coming, Brian," I greeted.
"Never mind. If Logan hadn't sent me the invite, I would have kicked him in the gut," he replied.
My eyes widened playfully. "I know you wouldn't do that. He's your best friend after all. By the way, did you two come together? I see you're standing together?" I questioned, purposely pointing a hand at the two.
My brows creased in curiosity, seeing the way the two passed each other a look before turning their faces around. "No. I don't even know him," Jamie answered.
"I don't know her either." A smile curved up on my lips. This is getting interesting. I didn't get to say anything further when my attention was diverted by Amelia, who had dragged me away.
**
I didn't get to interact with the two, but I had my eyes on them. Logan seemed to be trying to create something between them. The party went on. Since it was only for family members, there wasn't much noise. We enjoyed ourselves, laughter filled the house. Quinn and Molly played games of hide and seek. It was a heartwarming memory I wouldn't want to forget.
"Hey, baby, let's get out of here," I heard Logan's whispered voice straight into my ears.
He grabbed my wrist and was about to drag me away when I stopped him. "What about Tristian?"
"Don't worry. Amelia will watch over him," he hushed again before I allowed him to take me along with him. I thought we were heading upstairs, but instead, Logan led us outside to his car. He opened the door and ushered me in.
I waited until he entered his side of the driver before I bombarded him with questions. "Where are we going at this hour? What if Tristian starts crying?"
"We won't stay for long. And it's a surprise," he replied with a wink before he ignited the engine to life, and we drove out of the house.
"Let me play some music so the journey won't be boring," he broke the silence that had once prevailed. Soft music played in the background. I rested my head on his shoulder and intertwined our hands together while he drove with the other.
"Logan?" I called.
"Hmm?"
"Thank you for renovating Grandma's restaurant." I realized I haven't thanked him properly. He had done so much for me and my Grandma.
"Well, it's nothing. I'm not the only one involved. All credit goes to father."
"You are a blessing in my life."
"And you are an angel sent from above to lighten up my dull life."
Logan drove for about fifteen minutes before his car finally came to a halt. I was about to get out of the car when he stopped me. "Allow me," he said, getting out from his side.
"Acting like a gentleman," I smiled and sat back down. Logan unlocked the car and pushed his hand forward. "Allow this handsome gentleman to lead the way," he remarked. My smile widened. I placed my hand on top of his and stepped out of the car.
"What are you doing?" Logan covered my eyes with his palms.
"Like I said, it's a surprise. Just keep on walking," he answered. What could he be up to?
"Be careful with your steps," he hushed out again. I didn't know where I was stepping or where Logan was leading me to.
We walked for about five minutes before Logan stopped. "Have we arrived?" I asked, getting impatient already.
"Hang in there a bit." Logan pushed forward again, and I found my legs stepping on something like we had entered somewhere.
"Don't panic," he said, withdrawing his hand from my eyes. Darkness greeted me.
"Where are you, Logan? Where is this place?" Panic rose inside me as I tried to make out the surroundings and also locate Logan.
"Say something, please, Lo—" I didn't get to complete my statement when the room lit up. A gasp escaped me seeing the surrounding before me.
"Logan?"
"Yes. Did I manage to surprise you?" He questioned, a smile widening on his lips. I was in shock. The surroundings was decorated with flowers. "But this isn't my animal clinic," I said, shifting my gaze back to him.
"Yes. But it's all yours now." And then he fished out keys from his pocket and handed them over to me.
"Logan! You're spoiling me too much." I didn't care whether he would be seeing me in tears. I allowed them to gush out. I scanned the surroundings. It was bigger than mine, with all the quality stuff inside. It even had a reception section. My heart swelled up with emotion.
"I'm short of words. I don't know what to say anymore." I choked on my words.
Logan went down on one knee, making me look at him in surprise. He can't...
"Olivia, I know we started on the wrong foot. Our journey wasn't easy, but we managed to pull through it. Your presence in my life has brought a lot of happiness and warmth into my life. Not only that, you have cracked the strong walls of my family with your kind heart. I can't thank you enough. Damn! I'm not good with words," he said with a chuckle. My face was already wet with tears.
"I promise to make you the happiest woman in the world. I cherish each and every moment spent together with you, and I will continue to. Together with our little devil, Tristan." It was my turn to chuckle.
Logan fished out a box. "Will you give me the chance to sweep you off your feet once again? Will you marry me, Olivia?" My heart almost stopped beating when Logan opened the box, and a ring surfaced. And then his words.
"Yes. I will. I will marry you, Logan. Even though we are already married."
"That one was due to pressure. I want this to be real." He slid the ring onto my finger.
"It fit perfectly." Tears clouded my vision as I trailed my fingers on the ring.
I wasted no time in wrapping my arms around him. "I love you so much, Logan. I can't wait to be your wife again."
"I love you more. And I can't wait for us to have our second baby." I pulled away from the hug and playfully hit his chest.
"Why are you bringing up another topic to spoil this sweet moment?"
"Having a second baby is also a sweet moment. Aren't you the one who said you wanted us to have more babies?" I cleared my throat. He was right. I did say that. I don't mind us having two or three more kids.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and stared into his eyes. He stared back, intently. "Thank you for coming into my life, Logan," I muffled out enough for him to hear.
"Thank you for being a kind-hearted person." I flashed him a smile in return.
"Now kiss me." I ordered. Logan rested his forehead on mine. "You don't have to ask." And then he connected our lips together. And that was how we sealed our love with a passionate kiss, in each other's arms.
THE END
