48. Cheesy Logan

Olivia

"So, he's finally here." The doctor's voice broke the silence that had occupied the room for the past few minutes. I couldn't help but notice the amused smile playing at her lips as she and Logan exchanged a glance. She had wanted me to bring my partner along, and there he was, seated in front of her.

"Yes," I replied, redirecting her attention back to me.

"I see why you've been coming here alone. You didn't tell me that Logan Nero is your husband."

Ah, so that's why she had been looking at him that way. For a moment, I had almost thought she was checking him out in a different manner. Olivia, get a grip. The doctor is obviously not a single woman. And besides, Logan is someone popular, so it's okay for her to know.

"Sorry for not tagging along all this while. My wife told me you needed my presence," Logan responded calmly. I couldn't help but sense a puzzled look on his face. He had been teasing me to no end on our way here.

"Actually, it's no problem since you're here, Mr. Nero. Your wife's health condition and that of the baby are both normal. She has passed the first stage, and I'm sure she'll be able to handle the second and third trimesters." The doctor explained, now all serious as Logan listened attentively, as if he were in a corporate meeting. Silly me.

"So, is it possible to know the gender of the baby from now?" Logan asked, folding his arms across his chest. Oh, how the shirt he was wearing clung to his arms. If only he knew how well casual outfits suited him. I'd have to comment on that later when we're out.

"It's possible. She's in her fourth month, going on to five, so it's not a challenging task. Mrs. Olivia, could you take a walk around the hallway? I'd like to have a word with your husband," the doctor turned to me with a polite smile.

My gaze shifted to Logan, who was also looking at me with that same puzzled expression. "Alright."

"I'll be out in no time," Logan murmured, lightly squeezing my hand. I offered him a smile and a nod before making my way out.

As I closed the door behind me, I took a deep breath. The atmosphere of the hospital wasn't exactly welcoming to me. The scent of hospital chemicals and such always made me uneasy. I rubbed my palms over my baby bump, which had grown quite large. How time flies. Just a few months ago, we were trying to keep the truth hidden from the family. But now, everything is out in the open. The reality of what lies ahead still nags at the pit of my stomach.

My phone chimed just as I was about to start my stroll, as the doctor had suggested. I smiled as I read the message Jamie had sent.

"I'm still alive, you know."

I was thinking about calling her later today. We haven't been in touch for a while. I typed away, "Expect me later. Make something delicious for me and my baby."

I hit the send button with a grin. I could practically hear Jamie's voice on the other end, probably cursing me out. It wouldn't be surprising if I got a call from her immediately.

"What's making you happy?" Logan's voice whispered at the crook of my neck from behind. My body melted at his familiar touch.

"I was talking to Jamie," I replied, tilting my head to feel his warmth and catch a whiff of his cologne.

"Oh. I haven't heard the two of you talk for a while. Is everything alright with her?" He asked, pulling away slightly, and I turned around.

"Yeah. I'm sure she's fine. I'll check up on her later. Are you done talking with the doctor?"

"Mmm," he said, his gaze slightly distant.

"Mmm?" I repeated, giving him a quizzical look.

"Yeah. It's nothing serious. She just told me not to let you out of my sight for even a second." That comment made my cheeks heat up. Logan sure knew how to melt my heart.

"I don't think the doctor would say something like that," I replied as we walked towards the elevator, our arms linked together.

"She did say that..." He trailed off as he pressed the elevator button. Once we were inside, I unlinked my arms from his and turned to him with a questioning look.

"I want to know what you two discussed about," I declared. Logan's eyes lingered on me, and he inched closer, trapping me between the elevator walls and his body.

"Your lips are tempting me this morning," he said in a seductive tone, sending shivers down my skin and butterflies dancing in my stomach. A smile played on my lips as I allowed him to have his way with me.

He circled his arms around my waist, pulling me gently against his body, and I wrapped mine around his neck. We gazed deeply into each other's eyes, lost in the connection we shared. All I saw in his eyes was a swirl of affection, a bond that tied us together. "What did I do to deserve you, Logan?" The words slipped out of my lips before I could filter them.

"I should be asking you the same question. What have I been missing in my life all these years? I know we've had our ups and downs, but I don't mind any of that. I just want to be with you," he confessed, his voice sincere.

"And I want no one but you, Logan." Without a word, he rested his forehead against mine. It felt like we were exchanging information through the synchronized beats of our hearts.

"You don't know how much you mean to me," he whispered again, his voice like ice against my ear. I wouldn't let go of this man for anything.

I pulled away slightly, locking eyes with him. "I know," I said softly, placing my hand on his chest.

"I can feel it here. I love you, Logan."

I didn't know if it was the perfect moment to confess my love, but his touch and voice were penetrating my heart and body. I couldn't hold back my feelings anymore, not in the hospital, not in this elevator.

Logan's smile widened, revealing his teeth. "If you don't love me, who will you love? After all, I'm your husband and you're my wife." He kissed me lightly just as the elevator doors opened.

Outside, we were met with two pairs of eyes from two women. "Um..." I began, only to be cut off by Logan.

He intertwined our hands. "She's my wife," he declared. I turned to him in surprise.

"Wow, at this rate, everyone will know that Logan Nero is married," I said as we stepped into the car.

"I want the world to know. Besides, they wouldn't know that I married a stubborn wife," he replied, rendering me speechless.

"Did you just call me a stubborn wife?" I shot back, grabbing his arm in mock anger. He chuckled in response.

"Of course you are. I've had my fair share of trouble. I'm sure your parents received quite an earful while raising you."

"Same goes for you!" I shot back, folding my arms across my chest and turning my face to the other side. His laughter filled the car, fueling my anger even more. Did he really think I was a stubborn woman?

"I'll get out of this car," I warned, my hand on the doorknob, playing the part of an angry exit. Of course, I wasn't actually planning to leave the car.

"You've got nowhere to go if you do."

"Yes, I do. I'm going to Jamie's. So..." I turned the knob, about to open the car door, all part of my dramatic charade. I wasn't truly planning to go anywhere.

"Okay, I'm sorry. You're not a stubborn woman. Stop being angry." I remained unmoved.

"Olivia," he called, touching my hand. I pulled it away.

"I said I'm sorry."

"Your wife is being stubborn, so she won't forgive you," I retorted, maintaining my stance.

"It's your Logan. Your one and only." His words made a chuckle escape me despite my attempt at anger. I turned to him, glaring.

"Enough with the cheesy lines."

"The things we do for love," he said, his tone turning serious. My smile faded as I saw the earnestness in his eyes. The anger I was pretending to feel melted away.

"I wasn't really angry to begin with. I was just trying to play hard to get," I confessed.

Logan nodded. "I like that. That's what makes you special. So, where should we go now?" He leaned over and pecked my cheek, a much-needed kiss.

"To Jamie's house. I don't want to go back home just yet." I fastened my seatbelt.

"Same here."

"Meaning?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Wherever my wife goes, I follow. We stick together." His words reminded me that I hadn't told him about the plan.

"Amelia, Sarah, and I have planned a trip with the family," I announced.

"A trip? Where to?"

"Costa Rica. We want to strengthen the bond within the family. The plan is to use the trip as a solution. Sarah and Amelia can spend quality time with their husbands away from their busy work lives. And..."

"We would also spend our own quality time." Okay, that wasn't what I initially intended to say. But who is Logan without being all sweet? I squinted my eyes at him. "Does that mean you're in?" I asked.

"It sounds like a good idea."

"I know, right? I can't wait for Sarah and Amelia to convince their husbands!" I cheered, hopeful that they'd be successful so we could move on to the next part of our plan.

"Look at me," Logan said, interrupting the little daydream I had been lost in. My eyebrows furrowed in question as he stopped the car in the middle of the road.

In a swift motion, Logan cupped my face, drawing me closer to him. He gazed into my eyes with his captivating eyes and a smile playing on his lips. He closed the remaining distance and met his lips with mine. I responded instantly, and we shared a passionate kiss. Logan eventually pulled away, his thumb gently brushing over my lower lip. "You will be the death of me, Olivia," he whispered.
