Olivia

The tension between Logan and me was palpable as we sat at the breakfast table. Each passing glance between us only intensified the nervousness that coursed through my veins. I tried my best to focus on my food, but my appetite seemed to have vanished, replaced by a swirl of emotions and unanswered questions.

I couldn't help but wonder what Logan was thinking, what he felt about our unexpected closeness last night. Did he regret it? Was he as affected by it as I was? The weight of uncertainty sat heavily on my shoulders, making it difficult to carry on with our usual morning routine.

Logan, too, appeared to be lost in his own thoughts. His eyes would occasionally meet mine, and for a brief moment, I caught a glimpse of longing and hesitation in his gaze. It was as if he wanted to say something, but the words remained trapped within him, concealed behind a mask of composure.

I was lost in my thoughts while the family converse. I didn't expect me to involve me in their affairs. After breakfast, Amelia announced the next task. "Okay, everyone let's head out"

I couldn't help but furrow my brow in confusion. "Head out where?"

"I guess you have not been notified yet. It's the weekend. Sanitation day. We all tidy up the house" Liam answered me who has never uttered a word before  during lunch or dinner.

I blinked in surprise, realization dawning upon me. Sanitation day. It is another tradition of theirs?

"Sanitation day? I haven't been informed about it" I emphasized my eyes going to Amelia.

"Liam just did. It's a way for us to bond and keep our home clean and organized." Amelia explained.

As we gathered cleaning supplies and divided the tasks, I found myself paired with Logan. It was an unexpected twist. We entered one of the rooms together, armed with dusters and cleaning solutions. There was an uncomfortable silence between us, the sound of our movements filling the air as we began our tasks.

A small gasp escaped my lips as our heads collided, and a rush of warmth flooded my cheeks. We both took a step back, rubbing our foreheads in unison.

"Ouch," I murmured, trying to suppress a giggle. "Sorry about that."

Logan chuckled, his eyes crinkling with amusement. "No need to apologize. Looks like we both underestimated the size of this room."

I couldn't help but smile at his lighthearted response. The tension that had been lingering between us dissipated, replaced by a shared moment of laughter. It was a small mishap, but it brought us closer, breaking down the walls of formality that had surrounded us.

As we continued our cleaning, our movements became more synchronized, our conversation flowing freely. We shared stories and anecdotes, finding common ground and discovering shared interests. The awkwardness of our initial silence transformed into a comfortable camaraderie.

With each passing moment, I found myself appreciating the genuine and caring side of Logan. He had a way of making even the most mundane tasks feel enjoyable. The way he carefully dusted the shelves or meticulously arranged the items showed his attention to detail and his desire for things to be just right.

As we finished tidying up the room, our eyes met, and a shared sense of accomplishment washed over us. The room felt brighter, not only because of the physical cleanliness, but also because of the connection we had forged. It was a small step, but it held the promise of something more.

"Great job," Logan said, his voice filled with sincerity. "We made a good team."

I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through my chest. "Yes, we do."

As we moved on to the next room, I felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. The day held countless possibilities. It was the library. I couldn't hold in my excitement seeing a full library in front of me. "Don't tell me you've read all this books?" I asked as I roamed around the room. There isn't much dust which means the library is been taken care of.

"Come on. I'm not Shakespeare am I? I've read quite a few. I don't really have time to engage into reading books. But I do remember when I was a boy, this room used to be my safe haven"

I turned to him in surprise excited to hear more about him. "So this library has been in existence for a long time" Logan nodded his head picking a book from one of the shelves.

Logan's fingers gently traced the spines of the books as he spoke, a nostalgic glimmer in his eyes. "Yes, it has. This library has been a part of the family for generations. My grandfather was an avid reader, and he passed down his love for books to my father"

I listened intently, captivated by his words and the way he spoke about his family. It was a side of him I hadn't seen before, a glimpse into his personal history.

Logan continued, his voice filled with warmth and fondness. "When I was young, I would spend hours in this library, exploring different worlds, going on adventures with fictional characters. It was my escape, my sanctuary. The books became my companions, guiding me through the pages and teaching me valuable lessons about life."

I smiled, imagining a young Logan immersing himself in the world of literature. It painted a vivid picture in my mind, one where his curiosity and imagination were allowed to roam freely within the pages of countless books.

"And now," Logan said, his voice filled with a touch of wistfulness, "I want this library to be a place where our child can find solace, where they can embark on their own literary journeys."

His words resonated deeply within me. The idea of nurturing a love for books in our child, creating a space for them to explore and grow, filled me with a sense of purpose and joy. It was a beautiful vision, one that brought a sparkle to my eyes.

Together, we carefully dusted the shelves, treating each book with care and reverence. As we arranged them, our hands occasionally brushed against each other, sending a gentle jolt of electricity through my veins. It was a subtle connection, a silent acknowledgement of our shared dreams and aspirations.

With the library now clean and organized, we stood side by side, basking in the tranquility of the room. The shelves stood tall, their contents inviting us to delve into their pages, to explore the worlds they held within.

As I proceed to walk out of the room. Logan called my name. "Olivia" something was dancing in his eyes which I couldn't decipher.

"Do you want to go grab lunch outside"

A smirk appeared on my lips. "Thought lunch is supposed to be eaten at home?" I questioned when deep down, my inside was swelling up with excitement.

"It's not everyday. There are days that I don't eat at home" I raised my brows in question. "That means you also break the rule sometimes"

Logan chuckled, his eyes twinkling mischievously. "Well, I must confess that I occasionally indulge in breaking the rules. After all, a little adventure and spontaneity can add flavor to life, don't you think?"

I found myself nodding in agreement, feeling a surge of anticipation. Lunch outside sounded like a delightful change of pace, an opportunity to explore beyond the confines of our familiar surroundings.

"Alright, let's do it," I said, a playful smile tugging at the corners of my lips. "But on one condition."

Logan raised an eyebrow, curiosity evident in his gaze. "And what might that be?"

I took a step closer, allowing a teasing tone to color my words. "You have to promise me that you won't make fun of the quantity of food I eat"

His smiled widened. "I don't remember making fun of you but then deal. I will try  not to engage in that"

I threw him daggers. "You should not try. You have to do that. Or I will murder you" He stopped in his tracks his eyes dancing with horror at my threats. "In your sleep I mean"

Logan feigned a look of horror, his hand dramatically clutching his chest. "In my sleep? That's a cold-blooded threat, Olivia. I'll have to watch my back now."

I couldn't help but burst into laughter at his exaggerated reaction. The sound filled the air, mingling with the warmth of the sun that bathed us. It was a carefree moment, a playful exchange that brought us closer together.

"You better watch out, Logan," I replied, playfully narrowing my eyes. "I have ninja skills that you know nothing about."

He chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Alright, alright. No making fun of you and I'll be on my best behavior. Deal?"

"Deal," I said with a smile, the lightheartedness of our banter lifting my spirits. It was in these moments that I realized how effortlessly we could find joy in each other's company, even amidst the simplest of conversations.
